Chapter 36: Wedding Planning
Chapter 36: Wedding Planning
Reign
We laid in each other’s arms for another hour or so when his mom called wanting us at the pack house in thirty minutes. We got dressed and made our way to the house. Everyone was at the table eating breakfast when we walked in, all eyes fell on us. “Why are they staring at us?” I asked moving behind him a little. “Well?” Jyden asked raising a brow at his brother. Damien looked at everyone, held my left hand out, “She said YES!” The dining room erupted with cheering and hoots of excitement. Alpha Landon wrapped me in a tight bear hug. “Welcome to the family.” He smiled. “Now will you please call me father, dad, pops, daddy, old man, even old fart just anything other than Alpha Landon.” He chuckled. He wants me to call him dad. I haven’t said that word in a long time. I don’t think my parents would mind. I have a family now and they loved me. I have a man who loves me and wants to spend the rest of our lives together. “Okie dokie pops.” I said wrapping my arms tighter around his waist. I heard a low growl. “Calm down son.” Dad said laughing at Damien. “Sorry dad.” He said sheepishly. Dad released me from his bear hug and motioned for Damien to join us. “Tonight, we celebrate the mating of your future Alpha Damien and Luna Reign. And a belated 18th birthday.” Mom chimed in. “Let us start preparing for the ceremony!” Dad bellowed with joy, with that everyone started bustling around and chattering with excitement.
“Okay, we have a lot to do and not much time.” Mom said placing a plate of food in front of me and Damien. Since I got here, he and I always share a plate. He lets me eat first and then he eats what’s left and usually gets seconds and thirds. These males can eat. “Damien, we will all be heading to the city, we need to pick out dresses, shoes and other needed items for the ceremony and wedding. You boys need to get fitted for your suits.” She told him as she typed away quickly on her phone. “Ana will meet with the kitchen staff and plan the menu and we have to pick a cake design, which we also have an appointment with Ivy’s bakery.” She ticked off from what looked like notes she had made in a notebook. “Your father is already sending out the announcements and invitations to all our ally packs.” “Can we have everything ready in a week?” I asked. “Sweetie of course, we can, you just need to know where to go.” She wiggled her eyebrows and rubbed her hands together. “And you know where to go?” I smiled, she put her finger on her nose. “You finish your breakfast, and we will be leaving in an hour. I’ve already made our appointments.” She kissed the top of my head and disappeared. “This is going to be a long week.” Jaz laughed.
“Reign, sweetie.” I looked up and saw Ebbie walking into the dining room. “Hi Ebbie!” I chirped. “I hear congratulations is in order.” She smiled. “Thank you.” I smiled even wider. “Well, don’t let my sister wear you out.” She chuckled. “Who’s your sister?” I asked. She chuckled and pointed at the whirl wind that was mom Becca. “Mom is your sister.” “Yup, when you get back, come to my office, I want to check your leg, maybe see if we can fit you a boot for a few hours for the ceremony.” She explained. “Okie dokie.” I felt Damien chuckle, I was sitting in his lap. He squeezed my thigh and kissed my cheek. “Finish your breakfast, I will be back in about 45 minutes so we can go to into town.” He whispered. Oh shittles, there are those sparks again. “Okay.” I gulped as a shiver flowed down my spine. He stood up with me still in his arms and placed me in the seat we were sitting in. “Girls be ready in 45 minutes.” He told us. “Aye, aye captain.” Jaz and Ryott saluted. He rolled his eyes at them, kissed my temple, and went to do whatever he had to do with Jyd and Kolt. He left Shadow, Spencer and Spyder to watch over me. It’s something I should be used to but for some reason, I am annoyed.
“Reign. Hello.” I heard and snapping fingers in front of my face. “You, okay?” “Huh, yeah. Just for some reason I am annoyed that I have three fuzzballs guarding me.” I heard a low growl. Shadow hated when I called him a fuzzball. Oh, well, he will get over it. “Hahahaha. Whatever, I’m not ascared of you.” I sassed him. “You know he’s only trying to protect you?” Jaz said. “Yeah, I know.” I sighed. “I don’t know what’s wrong.” “It’s been a hard few months, it’s understandable.” Ryott smiled. “Just hang in there a little longer.” I shrug my shoulders and continue eating my breakfast. It was a little weird eating without Damien, we have eaten together since I was in the hospital. “Mate is coming.” Nera said with excitement. “How do you know? I can feel him and Ayres.” She purred. “This is getting way too weird for me. Why won’t you tell me who you are or what you are? Even who I am? I know I am some kind of shifter. You say I’m not crazy but here I am talking to myself in my head.” I sighed. “I know, I am sorry, but I can’t tell you anything more until we are fully mated. Which is only a few days away.” She squealed. “Oh, whatever!” I huffed.
The girls gave me a look. I waved them off rolling my eyes making them laugh. “Are you ladies ready to go?” Dad asked walking into the dining room with mom on his heels. She was on the phone talking a million miles a minute with dad gently tugging her behind him, so she doesn't fall. “Come along girls, Sully is waiting for us.” She said guiding us out the door. I looked around for Damien, but he was nowhere to be found. “Looking for someone?” I heard turning around quickly. Damien was standing by the car waiting for me. “Hey.” I smiled. Nera was purring and lowly growling. I guess she’s happy. “Ready to go?” He asked, I nodded and let him help me into the backseat of the SUV. He sat next to me, and I scooted closer to him and just let myself lean against him, enjoying his touch and his scent. “Oh, mom.” Jaz piped up. “A designer friend of ours sent a few dresses for Reign to try on. They are made exactly for her body type and build. He’s the one who has designed all our dresses for the last three years, so he pretty much knows our styles and likes.” She told mom. “But Sully.” Mom started. “I already talked to Sully, she spoke to him, and he’s sent her everything she might need to make any need alterations, but I doubt that she will need to Christian is always right on target.” Jaz said. “Well, okay, as long Sully knows.” Mom said with a small frown. “Awe mom, trust me, the dresses he sent are going to be perfect and they are in the pack colors. Thankfully, Reign’s favorite colors are part of the pack colors.” She looked at me with a grin. “When did you talk to Christian?” I asked with a raised brow. “A while back.” She said nonchalantly. “A while back. How long is a while back?” I asked again. “Uuhhh…I don’t know, maybe when we were at the house in the woods.” She said looking anywhere but at me. “Jazlyn.” I grumbled at her. “What? I knew things were going to lead us to this point. She huffed. “The way you wanted to rip that whore a part. Besides, the mate pull was already working overtime with the two of you.” She stuck her tongue out at me. I rolled my eyes at her and shook my head at her.
We sat in quite for the rest of the drive. Mom was on the phone talking with people setting up appointments, arranging the tables and seating. She definitely knew who to call and who to talk to. We finally arrived at Sully’s dress shop. “Sully! We’re here!” Mom called out as she walked into the shop. A tall brown-haired woman came hurrying out of a room. “Where is she? Where is our future Luna?” she asked looking around and made eye contact with me. “Oh my,” she said taking my face in her hands, “aren’t you a beauty.” She commented making me blush. “Oh, and she blushes, she is too adorable.” “Sully, stop teasing my little girl.” Dad scolded. “Oh please, zip it.” She batted at him. “Have mom and dad met her yet?” I looked at Damien with a little confusion. “Babygirl, this is my Aunt Sully. She's dad’s sister.” “Aunt Sully, this is my mate, Reign Rose Raven.” He said hugging his aunt. “Grandmum and granddad will be here in a couple of days.” He told Sully. “And no, they haven’t met her yet. Mom is going to love her.” She smiled. “Well, let’s get busy. We have a lot to do in the next a day or so.” She took my hand, leading me to another room. “Landon, you, and the boys know where to go. Jeff is waiting for all of you. Now get moving.” She shooed them away.
Damien didn’t look to happy about leaving me alone, well, not alone but not with him. “Damien, please.” Aunt Sully said. “She will be perfectly safe. I promise. There are no windows in the room and there is only one entrance and you’re standing in front of it.” She motioned to the entrance. “I will be right down the hall.” He leaned his forehead to mine. “Just call me and I will be here in no time.” He whispered in my ear. “I'll be fine.” I told him. “Besides, I know that Spyder and Spencer are around here somewhere, and they better not take a peek.” Damien growled. “I’m just teasing.” I patted his chest. “We will keep our position right outside the entrance.” They assured and took their stance. See. I giggled. Damien sighed, kissed my cheek, and went off with dad. Before he walked out, he turned to Spyder and Spencer. “If I find out you even turned your head wrong, you will be night patrol for the rest of your lives.” Damien warned. “We would never show Luna any disrespect.” Spyder assured with a nod of agreement from Spencer. “Good.” Damien winked at me and went with his dad. “Sorry about that guys.” I told them patting their shoulder. “Not to worry, we have much respect for him and you.” They chuckled. “Come along my sweet girl. We have a lot to do.” Aunt Sully said shaking her head. “These males are so protective and possessive. Jeff was the same way for the first 75 years of our marriage.” She giggled. “How long have you been married?” I asked following her into the dressing room. “Let me think.” She tapped her finger on her chin. “Seventy-five years.” She laughed. “It will never stop, no matter how old they are. Now, let's get down to business.” She smiled. So, we went about wedding business and preparing for the Alpha and Luna ceremony that will be held at the same time as our wedding. When we finally finished our fittings, we decided to head home, I was beat.
“Ana will have dinner ready for us when we get home.” Mom told us. She was texting and emailing the whole time. “Okay, everything is set and ready for Saturday.” She said excitedly. “Everything is ready.” I asked. “Of course, the food has been arranged by Ana, the flowers are being worked on as we speak and will be here on Friday afternoon so we can start the set up. We have plenty of tables and chairs. The decorations will be delivered at the same time as the flowers.” She continued. “Please don’t worry dear. This will be the most beautiful wedding and ceremony you have ever seen. I promise.” She assured. “I know, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for it to sound bad. It’s just, wow.” I sighed. “All you have to do is show and be your beautiful self.” Mom excitedly said.
“Are you having second thoughts?” Damien asked. There was so much worry and fear on his face. “What? No, no never.” I told him putting my hand on his cheek. “It’s just that Mac, Bea, and Duncan aren’t here and…” I paused for a bit. “Is there someone else you want here?” Dad asked from the driver’s seat. “Yeah, but I don’t think she would be able to make it on time. I’m not even sure where she is right now.” I explained. “I did send her a message before the whole attempted…” I trailed off. “Anyway, she’s been my best friend, aside from Jaz and Ryott, since her and I were in diapers. Her parents and mine were best friends as well. I stayed with them for a while after my dad died. Mom fell apart after he died. She could barely take care of herself much less me. So, we stayed with Jenny and her parents.” “How did you get started with singing?” Mom asked. “Well, I needed to get a job, so I was a hostess at a local restaurant that also had entertainment. One night, the singer didn’t show up and the band asked me to fill in. Apparently, they heard me singing in the dressing room when I thought no one was around.” I snorted. “Mac and Duncan were in the audience and things went from there. Mom wasn’t sure but Jenny’s mom did some digging on them and found they were telling the truth about what and who they were. So, mom agreed to let me try…and here I am almost four years later.” “Where is your friend, Jenny?” Mom asked. “She’s a freelance photographer. I just hope she can make it in time.” I shrugged. “I’m sure she will.” Mom smiled. When we got home, we made our way to the dining room where Ana had dinner waiting for us. “I think I want to take this back to the house.” I told Damien. “I’m pretty tired.” “Okay, we can eat at home, it’s no big deal.” He said grabbing our plates. “We will see you all in the morning.” We said our good nights and made our way back home, my private herd of fuzzy ninjas following close behind.
Wedding Day
Reign
“Okay you two.” Mom said. “We need to get you two ready, we have a lot to do and very little time.” She continued as she pulled us apart. “Awe, mom.” Damien whined. “I’m sure you can make it a few hours away from each other and then you will have a lifetime together.” She smiled as Damien kissed my forehead and released me to mom. “See you later.” He said. “Remember I. Love. You.” He whispered in my ear and walked off with dad. “Oh, he is just so yummy.” Nera whispered all giddy. “Behave yourself?” I said out loud. “We haven’t done anything yet.” Jaz huffed. “You didn’t hear that?” I asked frowning. “They aren’t going to hear me, only you can hear me right now, remember.” She scoffed. “Are you okay? Are you nervous?” Ryott asked teasingly as we walked to our room in the pack house. “You’re not getting cold feet, are you?” Jaz asked wide eyed. “Not at all. Sorry, I’m okay, I guess I’m just a little tired.” I said rubbing my head. “Didn’t get much sleep last night.” Jaz said wiggling her brows. I could feel the heat filling my cheeks. “Jaz, no we haven’t gone that far, not that it’s any of your business.” I said rolling my eyes at her. “Awe, c’mon sissy, you know I love you. I was just kidding.” She pouted. “Besides, he’s my big brother, I don’t need to know about his sex life.” She scrunched her nose. “I’m sorry, I just don’t feel like myself.” I sighed. “You’re just nervous, plus you have been through a lot these last few months. Why don’t you try and nap for a bit?” Ryott suggested. “Nah, I’m okay. I just want the day to hurry up and end.” I sighed. “Nera just been a major chatter box and prancing around. I think she's even given me a headache.” I said rubbing my forehead. “Well, go shower or take a soak in the tub and relax.” Jaz suggested. “And yeah, they do cause us headaches when they are excited or mad. You'll get used to it.” She told me and walked out with Ryott going off to do whatever it is they need to do. “Good to know.” I chuckled.
I looked around the room that Damien and I spent a few days in before we moved to our home. I found my phone; I hadn’t thought about my phone since I’ve been here. I grabbed it, of course it’s dead. I found the charging cord and plugged it up, once it had enough of a charge, I’ll check my messages. I turned on the tv and settled on my favorite show, I Love Lucy. My phone turned on and it went crazy with missed calls, voice mails, and text messages. I went through the ones I recognized, there were several from a number I didn’t know. I entered my code, I braced myself as I listened to the first message. “Hello sweetheart, you disappeared on me. Do you really think that I won’t find you and that mongrel asshole that interrupted our moment? This is far from over. You can hide from me for only so long. Remember, I love you and you will always be mine. I will find you and make you mine forever and I will kill that asshole.” Luther’s voice was raspy, deep, and held a hint of something sinister. I felt a wave of nausea come over me, I wrapped my arms around my stomach, my head started to feel fuzzy, and I felt like I was going to pass out. I fell on the floor, bring my knees to my chest, and wrapped my arms around myself. “We must get our mate.” Nera said as I cried, fear had taken over my body, just minutes ago I was filled with happiness. I didn’t have the strength to get up and find Damien. I laid there sobbing quietly, calling for my mate. “Damien, please come back. I need you. Please.” I whimpered, before I could say anything else, he was throwing the door open. I was still curled up on the floor. “Baby, what happened?” He asked picking me up from the floor and pulling me onto his lap. I nuzzled against him as tight as I could trying to hide from the world. “Please tell me, did someone hurt you?” Fear took over my body, he cradled me tightly and I could feel myself finally start to relax. Jyden and Koltyn had followed Damien, I held my hand out clutching my phone. Jyden took the phone in puzzlement. “Luther.” I said so low that no one else would have heard me but they heard. “Check the messages.” Damien ordered. Jyden played the message from the unknown number. “What the hell!? No wonder she’s freaking out! He left over fifty messages, he’s looking for her and you. He wants Reign and he wants you dead.”
“He doesn’t want her; he doesn’t love her. She’s just a possession to him, all he’s going to do is hurt her.” Jaz spoke up from the door walking over to me. “Jyd, take the phone to Shaggy, see what he can find out, maybe he can get an idea where the calls came from.” He instructed. “Koltyn, get her a new phone and number put it under my name. Make sure that Shaggy monitors her old phone and new one, just in case. I want this fucker found! He’s not coming near her.” Damien looked down at me, I was tightly nestled in his arms. I finally felt relaxed. “He’s gonna find me.” I whispered. “He will never touch you, if he does, he will die.” He said gritting his teeth. I looked up at him, his eyes darkened. “We will protect you; we love you more than life itself.” He grumbled his touch sent shivers down my spine. I reached up and stroked his cheek. It was Ayres.
“Son.” Dad called. “Come in.” Damien said as Ayres retreated. “How’s my little one?” He asked walking in with mom. “I’m okay.” I croaked out. “I just want him to leave me alone. I want this over!” I mumbled. “Do you want to postpone the ceremony?” Mom asked. “No!” I yelped. “No, please, the sooner the better. I want to move on with my life, our life. I want to feel safe. I want to be with Damien. I’m not going to let him take away my happiness, our happiness.” I said looking up at Damien and smiled. “Anything for you, anything you want, I will go to the ends of the earth to get it for you.” Damien cooed. He looked at mom and dad. “Let’s get this party started.” He cheered. Jaz called Ryott and they excitedly started fluttering around the room. Luther Garan is not going to ruin my happiness. I won’t let him. “Let’s get you ready, you’ll be a married woman in a few hours.” Jaz did a happy dance. “Dad, Damien, OUT! We need to make her gorgeous.” Jaz grunted at them. Damien stood up and placed me back on my feet, embraced me and gently kissed my lips. “I'll be downstairs waiting for you, waiting to start our life together.” He whispered. I nodded and held him tight. “I love you.” We both said at the same time gazing into each other’s eyes. Jaz pulled us up apart and pushed her brother out the door. “Give us a few hours and then you will have her for eternity.” She smiled. “He’s going to be all ours and we will be all his.” I heard Nera whisper. “We will be his and he will be ours. I got butterflies thinking that in a few hours we would spend our first night together. And once you and Damien mate, I can finally reveal myself to you and our mates.” Nera reminded me. “Things are going to change for us, as long as we are together, and our mate is by our side, we will get through anything and everything.” Nera assured me.
“C’mon, we only have a few hours to make you drop dead gorgeous.” Jaz said dragging me to the vanity. Jaz and Ryott were busy buzzing around the room getting everything they'll need to get me beautified, their word not mine. “Hello, may I come in?” Aunt Ebbie called from the door. “Come on in Ebbie.” Ryott held the door open for her. I had gone to see her early this morning before everyone was up and going. She wanted to do some x-rays and see if maybe I could use a boot under my dress so that I'm hobbling around on crutches. “Do I get to use a boot, or do I still have to use those things?” I asked pointing to the crutches with disgust making everyone laugh at me. “After looking at the x-rays and checking them three times...” she said rubbing her cheek. “...you don't need either anymore.” She said looking confused. “But you said that I would have at least six months of healing to do.” I frowned. “Yes, well that's what I thought but from the x-rays, the bones have healed, and if it wasn't for the pins and rod no one would ever know that you had such a horrendous injury.” She explained. “That's GREAT!!!” I clapped. “But why the confused look?” I asked her. “Well, sweetie, most humans don't heal from something like this in just a couple of months.” She replied. “In any case, you are good to go. I do want to do a more extensive exam to figure out what is going on. For now, let's get you married.” Aunt Ebbie smiled wide.
