Chapter 25 – Discharged

Damien looked around the room scanning to see what could be used. “We’ll use a blanket to cover her when we get to the parking area. I’ll carry her to the car with her covered with the blanket.” He said grabbing the blanket the nurse gave him earlier. “Sounds like a plan boss.” Shadow chimed in, grabbing Damien’s dark hoodie. “Put this on just in case there’s someone between here and the garage. Alright then, let’s get going.” Damien said with a smile. “Yes, please, let’s get outta here.” I agreed. The nurse pushed the wheelchair, Jaz and Damien walked by my side, Shadow and Spyder behind me and Spencer walked in front of me with Fluff and Furry sniffing all around checking each and every hallway, exit, every nook and cranny didn’t go unchecked. We finally made it to the garage and of course there were all sorts of news media that had made their way to the parking garage. Hospital security and law enforcement were there to keep the media from getting too close. I began to panic. “D-Damien, please.” I was in his arms in the blink of an eye holding me tight against his chest. Jaz placed the blanket over me making sure that I was completely covered from head to toe. Damien leaned into my ear, “hold tight babygirl.” He whispered. “Spyder, take Jaz, get her in the car. When she’s in come back, you, Spencer and Shadow will walk out one on each side of us with Fluff and Furry. Tell the driver to keep the door open and make sure the path is clear from here to the car.” He instructed. “On it boss. Come on Jaz.” Spyder said leading her out the door. As soon as Jazlyn set foot out the door, the camera’s flashes went off all over the place.
“Jaz, Jaz, how’s Ryven doing? Is she being released? When will get to see and talk to her?” The reporters bombarded questions at her. As Damien carried me to the car, I heard the cameras and reporters asking questions over one another. I buried my head in Damien’s chest and kept repeating, “Please, just leave me alone.” “People, people.” I heard Jaz’s voice. “I promise that Ryven will release a statement in the next few weeks when she’s feeling better but for now, I ask that you give her the space and time she needs to heal. This has been a very traumatic event and we all need time to recover.” She pleaded. “Jazlyn, get in the car.” Spyder told her. “No! Wait!” I said softly. “Maybe I should say something to them. I mean, our fans did help save me.” She really wasn’t asking a question but more of a statement. “Babygirl, you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to.” Damien told her. “I know but I think I should really say something, maybe they’ll leave me be for a while.” I thought out loud. “Reign but the bruises and the swelling?” Jaz mumbled. I sighed and thought for a second. “I can pull the hoodie over my head and put on a pair of sunglasses and maybe a baseball hat. “I suggested. “That might work.” Spencer said. “You guys get her ready and I’ll get the press organized.” He said looking between Damien, Jaz and me. “Sounds good, Spence.” Damien said nodding to him.
“Maybe Mac, should hire Spencer.” Jaz chuckled. Spencer went out the garage and told everyone to back up behind the police line that he set up and that I would be coming out to make a statement. I saw Damien’s eyes glazed over, this was what Jaz called mind talking or something like that, her and Koltyn do it all the time. “Okay, come on, let’s get this party started.” Damien said carrying me to the door then placing me gently down and helped me walk out. Damien stood behind me helping me balance myself, Shadow was on my left, Jaz and Spyder on my right. As soon as I stepped out the questions started from every one of them.
“Ryven? How are you doing?” “I’m good thank you.” Before I could say anything else, reporters started dropping questions one right after the other. “Hey!” Damien bellowed. “Shut it! She will not be answering questions, but she will be making a statement. We have a flight to catch so you only have five minutes.” He stated sternly. His aura oozed power and commanded respect. “So, please shut your pie holes and open your ears.” I was pretty glad that I was hidden under his hoodie and sunglasses because I was laughing to myself. Mac wouldn’t be happy with talking to the press like that, but I really didn’t care right now. Damien looked at me and nodded. Jaz took my hand and Damien walked me a little closer to the press area.
“ First of all, I want to thank everyone for all the love, concern, thoughts and prayers, they have meant a lot to me and is very much appreciated. The events that have led up to now have been very unexpected and very traumatic for us. As of right now, the person who brought us here, well, we don’t know where he is. The police will be handing out his picture with information on how to contact them with any information you have. But please if you come across him, don’t interact with him, just contact the authorities.” “Is he the one who is responsible for the loss of your home and your puppy?” Someone asked. So much for no questions but then again, the press never listens. “Yes, we believe he is.” I answered. “Are you going to still be taking the next few months off?” “Yes, but it maybe longer than just a few months, it may turn into about a year. I think we all need a little relaxation and rest. Plus, I need time to heal, the beating I took was pretty bad. “ “Is there any way we can maybe…” The nerve of them asking a question like that!
Damien quickly interrupted. “NO! Don’t even ask it’s not going to happen. Would you want your loved one to be seen the same state? Just because she’s Ryven Rose doesn’t mean her life is open for everyone to gawk at.” He growled. “Guys, please. I know ya’ll want to know more and all but since this is still an open investigation, no other information can be given, and I certainly don’t want anyone to see me at my worst. Please respect my privacy and allow me the time I need to heal and get back on my feet or foot.” I snorted slightly. “With that, I am going to say see ya’ll later and again, thank you for all the love and support that has been sent my way. And to those fans that were there to help protect me, I owe you more than ya’ll will ever know and I love all of you.” I said as our private car pulled in front of me so that I could get in without having to move and blocking the press. They were still throwing questions at me and Jaz. I waved bye and said thank you again. Damien got in the car first and held his hand out to help me in the car. I sighed and buried my head in his chest.
He ran his fingertips up and down my arm, “everything will be okay.” He whispered pulling me onto his lap and cuddling me close.
