Chapter 33 – Reign and Luther, part 2

Damien

I grabbed some snacks, drinks and made my way up to our room; our room has a nice ring to it. “Babygirl,” I called out putting the food on the bedside table, “baby you, okay?” I walked into the bathroom and found her on the floor curled in a ball. “Babygirl, what happened?” My heart fell to my stomach, she looked up at me and threw herself into my arms and held on tight like her life depended on it. She trembled in my arms. “Please don’t let him find me.” She begged. I tighten my grip on her. I could feel Ayres coming forward, he wanted to comfort her. He inhaled her scent deeply and nuzzled her closely. Ayres she whispered. “What did he do to you? He did more than slap you, didn’t he?” Ayres asked in his deep tone. She nodded her head. “He tried to...t-t-take...m-m-me.” She sobbed. “I told him n-no b-b-but h-he got a-a-angry and slapped me. I was able to f-f-fight him o-o-off until h-h-help got to m-me.” She hiccupped between sobs. “H-He wanted more from me than I-I was willing to give him. H-He didn’t like that.” Ayres held her tight and slowly released a low grumble. “He will never find you, he does, he dies. You ours and no one take you from us.” “Ayres...” she breathed out. “Little mate.” He responded with so much love. “We will always be with you, we will not leave your side not now, not ever.” He whispered in her ear. He held her in his arms for who knows how long, he just wanted to comfort and hold her. She’s as much his as she is mine.

“Wolfy.” She mumbled. “Wolfy?” He grunted. “Sorry.” She sighed. “No, only you call me that, I your Wolfy.” He chuckled. He wasn’t fond of the nickname, but he didn’t want to hurt her feelings, so he went with it. She giggled, it made us both smile. “Please let Damien back?” She softly asked. He grunted, he gave her a kiss and gave me back control. She looked at me as my eyes went from black back to my green color. I looked at her beautiful grey sad eyes and pulled her as tight I could, she nuzzled her head into the crook of my neck. “I’m afraid he will never let me go.” She whimpered. “He will not come near you.” I assured her. “You never have to be afraid again.” I told her gently putting her on our bed. I grabbed one of my shirts and helped her put it on. I rewrapped her hand. She was so tired, and she yawned. She sprained it when she punched the fucker. “Are you hungry? You haven’t eaten since this morning.” I told her.” The pack barbeque!” She gasped. “It’s okay, we can plan another one later.” I assured her. “Here mom sent some watermelon for you. Jaz told her you loved watermelon, she bought a lot of it and also planted some seeds and hopefully grow you your own patch.” I laughed. “She doesn’t have to do that.” She giggled. “Too late, she already had them planted and are starting to sprout in the green house.” “Your mom is awesome.” “Yeah, she is and now she’s your, more like our, awesome mom.” I reminded her. She smiled. “Yes, she is.” She continued to eat.

We watched tv, she stayed as close to me as she could, I wasn’t complaining one bit. I stretched out and she cuddled up against me with her head on my chest. Her heart rate and breathing were finally back to a steady rhythm, she was relaxed. She finally fell asleep. I just watched her sleep; I was being a creeper but so what? She’s mine and she’s the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. I can’t remember my life without her and don’t want to. How can I have so much love for a woman that I have only been around a few weeks. She’s become my whole life, my world, and my future. She shifted in my arms, opened her eyes, and looked up at me. Oh, how I loved her so much. She was going to smile but she quickly remembered what had sent her into a spiral of emotions, her eyes went wide. “Babygirl, you’re safe.” I whispered and pulled her tight against my chest. “Moses, Shadow, Spyder and Spencer and a few others are downstairs. No one can set foot on our land without us knowing, plus patrols are doubled and the human authorities have been notified and are on the lookout also. This pack will protect you with their lives.” I assured her. “Now here eat a little something.” I handed her bowl of fruit salad. We sat quietly eating, chatting, and watching tv when she started to tell me more about her and Luther.

“He spent so much time with us that I guess he developed feelings for me. I thought, why not? Yeah, he was older than me, but I didn’t really think it was a big deal. No one knew that we had started spending time together. We...I needed to figure out if I had feelings for him other than he’s, my bodyguard.” She said softly. “By the time we had been seeing each other for about six months, he was already talking about us getting married, how many kids we were going to have and where we gonna live.” She continued as she grabbed a glass of juice. “He was even planning my retirement tour.” She snorted out. I sat and listened; I didn’t want to interrupt her. I wanted to know more about Luther Garan. I held her hand and caressed her knuckles with my thumb. “I told him that my career was just getting started and that I had no intention of marrying, having kids or retiring anytime soon.” She said and I guess she felt me tense up. “Well, at least not with him.” She sourly snorted, I relaxed. “He got so angry; I could see the rage in his eyes. I told him that I didn’t think that we should continue any kind of romantic relationship, he wanted more from me than what I was ready to give and that it wouldn’t be fair to him or me. He flew into a fit of rage. He slapped me across my cheek, he said that if I told anyone about us and what happens between us, he would do a lot more damage and ruin my career and my image. I've worked hard these past three years to build what I have. I’ve lost my house and my KC. How could I have been so stupid? I knew he would keep his word, so as revolting as it was, I kept my mouth shut. Every time he got angry, no matter how small it was, it was always my fault. Every time he hit me, I lost apart of myself, and I hated him and myself for letting it happen. I hate feeling like a helpless damsel in distress.” She scowled. “I was relieved when Mac said that he hired a new security company, of course I had no idea that it would be your company.” She smiled shyly.

“You are far from being a damsel in distress.” I told her caressing her arm. “You’re just saying that because I’m your mate.” She frowned at me. I raised my brow. “No, I’m not just saying that because I’m your mate, I mean it. You inflicted some pretty good damage to him.” I chuckled. She scrunched her eyebrows. “What are you talking about?” She asked thinking like she was trying to remember. “Before we got to you, you punched him in the nose, breaking it.” I said with a glimmer in my eyes. “And you also broke...well...” I trailed off with a grin. She’s going to freak when I tell her. “Well, what?!” She demanded. “You broke his...” I smiled and looked down to my crotch area. She looked down, she covered her mouth with her tiny hands and squeaked. “NO, I DID NOT!” She squeaked out. “Yup.” I said popping the P as I munched on an apple slice. “He was all worked up after you punched him, some sick fetish, I guess. He still didn’t let you go, so you reached out, squeezed, and twisted in ways that a dick should NEVER be twisted.” I told her covering my dick with a shudder. “He let you go, and Shadow pinned him to the wall. We all surrounded you. The police took him from Shadow, but Ayres surfaced and lunged at him, lifting him by his neck.” He gritted. “If you hadn’t called me, I would have snapped his neck.” By the time I was finished telling her what happened, my fists were clenched so tight my knuckles were white. I took a deep breath to try to relax, it wasn’t working. Reign scooted closer and put her hand on my fist. She had such a delicate touch, so soft and tender that I felt myself relax under her touch. “You did good, just remind me to NEVER piss you off.” I chuckled.

“It’s not funny! I don’t remember any of that!” She huffed. “Hell yes, it’s funny! He had it coming, no real man would ever lay a finger on a female, ESPECIALLY one he claims to love.” I raised my voice. I made her flinch and she tried to pull away from me. “Dammitt!” I scared her. “You asshat! STOP SCARING little mate!” Ayres growled at me. I sighed. “I’m so sorry babygirl. I didn’t mean to scare you. Please forgive me. I would never hurt you.” I begged, kneeling in front of her. She slowly ran her fingers through my hair and rubbed my head, there were those damn sparks again. I heard her breath hitch as did mine. “Are we always going to feel these sparks?” She breathed out. “Pretty much, why?” I asked, was she changing her mind? Please Goddess don’t let her change her mind, it would kill me and drive Ayres insane. “You don’t like the feeling?” “No.” She said. I felt my heart fall. I guess she realized what she said. “No...I-I mean...I-I like the feeling. It’s just that I’ve never felt anything like this. I thought I never would, then I met you, you left me alone for three years, then Luther, you came back and now I’m here with you. Not that I’m complaining being here with you. I know that I’m supposed to be here with you. I’m just trying to absorb all this, I’m afraid that I’m going to wake up and I’m gonna be in some hotel getting ready for the next show. I don’t want you and all this to be a dream.” She whispered. “Babygirl, this is far from a dream. I am real. Our way of finding our one and only true mate is very different. We believe that our Moon Goddess chooses our mate the day we are born and chooses when we finally meet and come together. There have also been stories of shifters rejecting their destined mate because the shifter doesn’t think that their mate is worthy of him or her or because they are human or a different species.” Reign cringed when I explained rejection.
