Chapter 26 – The Flight Home

We finally made it to the airport, everybody was on board waiting for us so we could get going. I know Reign was ready to relax with some peace and quiet. I was also ready to spend some alone time with her. It’s been almost four weeks since I arrived to claim my little mate, she fell asleep on the drive to the airport, she’s so beautiful, of course she would argue with me about that right now. She won’t even look in the mirror at herself but no matter what she may think of herself right now, she will always be my beauty. Ayres kept demanding that I claim her as ours he wants every male to know that she belongs to us. I told him that this is not the time, she’s not strong enough to handle the claiming right now.

“Damien, we need to wake her so we can board.” Jaz whispered. “No, I'll carry her.” I said as I slid out of the car holding her tight to my chest. I’m keeping her close, I’m not ready to let her go. I could have lost her on her that day, just the thought of that I knew couldn’t handle. The pilot announced our departure, finally, we are away from the craziness. All I can try to do is keep the crazy away from her until she heals. “Mr. Hunt.” The male attendant, Ronnie, called. “You can take Ms. Rose to the bedroom. I already put both your bags in there. Everyone is already resting.” He told me. “Thank you, Ronnie.” I told him walking in. He extended his hand to help. “NO!” I growled. “I don’t need your help. Nobody touches her except for me.” I snapped at him. Ronnie raised his hands in surrender. I didn’t want anyone touching her, she’s mine. Ronnie led us to the room we will be staying in until we land sometime tomorrow. “Mr. Hunt, just so you know, I bat for the other team. I like men, so you don’t have to worry about me trying to grope her.” He assured me. “But I can’t promise I won’t try to grope you.” He winked at me with a smile and started to walk off. My jaw dropped at what he said. Dear Goddess, I got rid of one problem, am I now going to have to get rid of another? “Mr. Hunt?” Ronnie called. “I was just kidding. I have a mate and I love him with all my heart. I would never come between mates. I was just messing with you, you looked like you could use a laugh.” He chuckled. I released a breath that I didn’t realize I was holding. I shook my head with a smile, nodded and bid him a good night. I am so glad no one else saw that, especially Jyden and Koltyn, they would never let me live it down.

Once I shut the door and I gently laid Reign on the bed, she looked so peaceful and relaxed. Damn, I had to take a piss, but she had a death grip on me. I leaned into her ear, “Babygirl, I need to go to the bathroom, but I need for you to let me go for a bit.” “No, please don’t leave me.” She sobbed. “I’ll be right back, I am not leaving you, I promise. I’m not even leaving the room.” I told her giving her a gentle kiss. She released her grip on me, and I quickly made my way to the small bathroom to clean up and do my business. I left the door open so she could see me. When I finished cleaning up, I went to lay down next to her and of course Ayres was being a horn dog. I continued to ignore him; he wasn’t making this easy. I climbed in bed under the covers with my mate, she moved closer to me and nuzzled as tightly as she could against me, my heart skipped a beat. Her breathing started to level out and her heart rated slowed too normal. She relaxed even more and then I started to relax and eventually I drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up the next morning, Reign was still asleep. I couldn’t help but watch her. She is so beautiful, her long black hair with pink and purple streaks, her skin was perfect tan color, and her lips were the perfect shade of pink. I wanted to lean in and kiss her when I heard her ask, “are you some kinda creepier? I thought you were still asleep.” I said moving strands of her hair out of her face. She was peaking up at me through her eye lashes. “I was but it felt like someone was watching me, so I needed to see who it was and look, it’s my creepy creepier.” She smiled up at me, she has the most infectious smile. I can’t help myself and “I’m your creepy creepier and will always be yours.” I kissed her nose.

“Hey sleepy head.” Jaz greeting as she walked in with a big smile. “Don’t you know how to knock?” I grumbled at her, never taking my eyes off my mate. “It’s not like you were doing anything.” She snarked back. “We should be home in a few hours.” She said pulling some cloths from Reign’s bag. “Out I need to help her get changed. You can use one of the other bathrooms to change.” She told me shooing me out of the room. “You know, I can help her, she is my mate.” I reminded her. “Yeah, but neither of you have seen each other butt ass naked, have you?” She said putting her hand on her hip waiting for my answer. I frowned at her and kissed Reign’s temple. “That’s what I thought.” She smirked and pointed to the door.

“I’ll have something ready for you to eat.” I told her walking out of the room. They came out of the room about twenty minutes later. Reign was leaning on Jaz for support, but she still lost her balance, and I caught her before she hit the floor. “Go slow babygirl.” “It sucks getting the snot beat outta ya.” She chuckled as I sat her down. I narrowed my eyes at her. “It’s not funny!” I huffed. “Don’t you understand that I could have lost you? Don’t you understand that Ayres and I can’t live without you! We can’t lose you!” I growled at her trying to fight Ayres off from coming to the surface. “You are our Luna, our love, our mate, our world. Ayres and I can’t live in this life without you. You need to understand how important you are to us.” “How can she not understand this?” Ayres growled. “Want talk to little mate. I explain!” He demanded. “No!” I told him and blocked him. She sighed at me and patted the empty spot next to her. “Damien, I was joking. I have to be able to laugh otherwise all I'll do is cry, yell and shut down. I don’t want to do that anymore, not with you.” She told me rubbing my hand. “It’s still not funny.” I said rubbing my twitching left eye. She cupped my face in her tiny hands. “All this mate stuff is still new for me and I’m willing to give it a chance, but I need for you to calm down. I know that there could have been a different outcome, but we need to be grateful for where we are now. Don’t get me wrong, I was scared shitless of what happened but being around you and my fuzzy ninjas has given me more confidence than I’ve had in the last two years. I owe that to you, to all of you.” She softly told me.

I gave her a smile and relaxed under her soft touch. As she went to drop her hand; I took her hand in mine and kissed her knuckles. I felt her shiver and sparks flow through both of us. I leaned in and whispered. I felt it too. Our faces were so close, our lips could make contact if either of us leaned in closer. I would have but an annoying voice filled the room. “Okay lovebirds, this is not the time or place for all this mushiness.” Jyden snickered putting his hand between our lips. “You know little brother,” I said never breaking eye contact with Reign. “You’re an annoying little shit.” “Then, I guess I’m doing my job.” He laughed sitting next to Ryott. She punched him in the arm. “Hey, that hurt, remember I’m delicate.” He whined. “Delicate my ass.” Koltyn grunted. “More like a wussy.” Jyden flipped him off. “I’m surrounded by children, are you two going to cause me trouble because if so, I’m tying you both up and throwing you in a closet until we get home.” I growled at them. They both laughed and flipped me off. I was stepping towards them, but a small soft hand grabbed mine. “You two just got lucky.” I point at them as Reign pulled me down next to her. “Are you hungry?” Right on que, her stomach let out a loud rumble. “I guess I have my answer.” I chuckled.

Ronnie brought coffee, juice, fruit, sandwiches, pastries and her favorite lemonade from Chick-Fil-A. The rest of the flight went pretty quiet. Jyd, Koltyn and I played video games while the girls talked and review some sheet music. They were starting work on new material; her eyes were still swollen but Jaz and Ryott would read everything off to her and play it for her on their guitars that they always carried with them. I could feel her frustration flow through her. I left Jyden and Koltyn to battle out whatever game they started. I sat down next her, snaked my arm around her waist and just let her lean into me. I felt her start to relax, I thought that maybe she would move away from me, but she leaned further into me, and she relaxed even more in my arms. I could sit like this forever with her in my arms and she eventually fell asleep.
