Chapter 40: Family
Damien
This has turned out to be an interesting day, who would’ve thought that Reign’s grandparents and cousins would find her. I want to trust them but there’s a still a small part of me that is unsure. Ayres doesn’t seem to be on edge, he and Dyanera have been very calm and at ease. If there was something wrong, they would both be on edge. “No need to worry. Have talked with grandfather, they mean mate no harm, only want to help. Must listen to them; they know his plan.” Ayres assured me. “Damien, you need to put me down.” I heard her voice pulling me out of my thoughts. “Sorry babygirl.” I gently placed her on her feet. “You, okay?” She asked placing her hand on my cheek. I will never get tired of those sparks. I know she feels them also because she always inhales sharply. I thank the Goddess every day for making her mine. “I’m good my love.” I told her kissing her palm.
“Let’s eat!” Jyden clapped his hands and Koltyn rubbed his belly. Jyden and Koltyn offered their arms to Reign and led her to her seat at the table. As she was going to sit, her grandfather walked in, Reign froze. “Mama!” And she ran to the female next to her grandfather. “No, my sweet child.” The female whispered. “I’m your grandma.” She said wiping tears from Reign’s cheek. Reign hugged her grandma a little tighter, her grandpa stood behind them and her cousins on each side and the three of men embraced the two of them. A wave of happiness flowed through our bond, my mate was happy, her eyes sparkled with joy. Reign untangled herself from their embrace.
“C’mon, sit down and eat, ya’ll must be starving.” She said guiding them to the table. “Actually, rabbit is not bad at all.” One of the twin cousins, Noah I think, snorted. Reign scrunched her nose at him. “What?” He chuckled. “Dude, there is no way your cousin will touch rabbit.” Jyden ratted her out. “Wrong, I am more than happy to pet and cuddle with a cute fluffy cuddly rabbit.” She said sticking her tongue out at Jyd. “Noah, Jonah, not everyone can eat what you garbage cans eat.” Ryan chuckled shaking his head at them. “Grandpa.” They whined making everyone chuckle. “Uh, grandpa I’m sure they will be in good company with Jyden and Koltyn, they are our resident garbage cans.” Reign laughed. “We will not deny that we are still growing boys and need to eat at least ten times a day.” Koltyn said rubbing his belly. “Noah, Jonah, you can sit with us.” Jyden offered. All the females rolled their eyes at the four of them. “Will you two shut it.” I snapped. “Now please Ryan, Nessa, Noah, Jonah, have a seat so we can eat and catch up.” With that everyone sat, my parents at the head of the table and me and Reign on their right. The food was brought out and of course, Ana made Reign her favorite dishes. Ana and Cloie took care of Reign and me, much to Reign’s displeasure they cooked and cleaned. Reign would try to clean up, but they never let her.
“Grandpa, how long have ya’ll been traveling?” Reign asked. “More like running.” Noah scowled. “When dad found out that we didn’t agree with him he banished us and sent hunters after us. We didn’t stay in one place for too long. It took some time, but we found grandma and grandpa and they took us in. We told them what happened, and they said we had to find you. He and the Vampire King are still looking for you.” Jonah explained. “Dad,” Reign softly called, he turned to look at her. “They can stay here, right?” She asked. Dad couldn’t tell her no, she’s his youngest pup, she figured out with the help of Jaz and Ryott, that dad’s a sucker for their puppy eyes. “Awe, sweetie, don’t give me those puppy eyes,” dad sighed, “of course, they can, and we will provide them with protection.” He said standing up. “As of this moment, the Rose Raven family are now under the protection of the Moon Hunt pack. Once the issue with the Vampire King issue is handled and sorted, we will discuss your future with our pack until then you will be protected and care for. We will require the boys to work around the pack, what are your strengths?” Dad asked. “We like to fight; we were training with the warriors until dear ole dad banished us.” Jonah advised. “Well, then you two will report to Shadow, Jenny, and Moses, they are our deltas in charge of our warriors, trackers, and enforcers. Your day will begin at four am. Do. Not. Be. Late.” Dad told them raising his brows at them. “We would be honored. Thank you, Alpha Landon, Alpha Damien.” They said in unison. “Ryan, you and Nessa can help by giving us as much information as you can on this situation with the Vampire King.” Dad said, not really asking but more of a demand. “Of course, we will give you whatever information we can.” Ryan agreed. We finished dinner and made our way to the living room to continue our conversation. Jyden and Koltyn sat on the floor with Jaz and Ryott sitting in their laps, mom and dad sitting next to each other and Reign’s grandparent’s doing the same. I took a seat on one of the recliners and pulled Reign to my lap. I wanted her close to me. I was the first to break the silence. “What does the Vampire want with my mate?” I asked.
“Vampire King Luther Garan.” Ryan growled. “His father wanted my Nadia for his mate so that he could carry on with his twisted pure blood ideas. He has slowly, over the last twenty or so years, been eradicating those he sees as being non pure blooded supernatural’s. What’s a pure blood to him?” Mom asked. “Any supernatural not of a werewolf or vampire.” Ryan stated. “Sounds like a twister fucker.” Uncle Renzo gritted. “Pure bloods are supposed to be pure with only one species. Yes, but he believes that wolves and vampires can breed stronger warriors. They will have the strength of both a wolf and a vampire but also be able to go out in the daytime. How is he even sure that will work?” Dad questioned. “When he came to claim Nadia, as punishment for her disappearance he took our warriors and all of our females that were of age.” Nessa lightly sniffled. “Yeah, dad said that none of the babies carried both genes, only one or the other.” Noah said. “Like us,” Jonah sighed, “our mother is a vampire. We had to leave her behind.” He growled. “Dad forbade her from following or coming with us.” Noah said fighting back a tear. “Plus, she refused to leave him. Luther thinks that he needs a high rank male and female, preferably of royal blood.” Jonah eyed Reign. “But I am not a pure blood. My dad was human, so why come after me?” She asked.
“He was obsessed with Aunt Nadia and was angry when she left, he went on a rampage. He wanted to control her but your mom, well, she was not one to be controlled.” He chuckled gently. “And you’re not just any wolf, you are THE wolf.” Jonah said. “What does that mean? I am THE wolf?” Reign asked. “He wants to use her to breed the first Alpha wolf-vampire hybrid, the one who would become the King or Queen of all realms.” Ryan stated. “That’s why he never stopped looking for her. She was the last female Royal Alpha, until you.” “So, because she is the last royal, she-wolf, Luther is after her so that he can try and breed a super hybrid?” Jen asked. “Or at least what he thinks are going to be super hybrids?” “Yes.” Ryan responded.
Reign was off in her world thinking about whatever she’s thinking about. “So how long is a she-wolf able to have children?” She asked out of nowhere. “Well pretty much as long as they are fertile, which is longer than a human female.” Mom answered. “Are you still...fertile?” Reign asked a little embarrassed. Dad chuckled. “Actually, yes. I am still fertile.” Mom said gazing at dad. “Okay, okay, you two need to stop this!” Jyd whined. “This is just really gross. I don’t need that image in my...Awe shit, too late!” He rubbed his eyes with his thumb and index finger. “Sorry, just trying to figure things out.” Reign huffed. “You’re just being a big baby.” Jaz snickered. “Alright big baby, we will continue this conversation tomorrow. I’m sure everyone is tired. It’s been a long day for all of us.” I said. “Sounds good son.” Dad said smiling at mom pulling her into his arms and nuzzling her. “Dad, can you at least wait until your upstairs in your own room and please don’t come to us in a week and say that we have a new sibling on the way.” I laughed. “Awe Da! That is an image I DO NOT NEED!” Jyden yelped. He got up and dragged a giggling Ryott with him out of the room. Everyone laughed and started making their way out. Nessa pulled Reign into a tight hug, kissed her on top of her head and they and the twin cousins bid goodnight. I hope they can be trusted; I would hate to kill them, but I will not allow anyone to hurt my mate.
“Do you want to stay here or go home?” I asked Reign. I wrapped my arms around her waist and nuzzled her hair. Her scent is so intoxicating. Ayres has been trying to talk Dyanera into convincing Reign to have a pup and start our family. Dyanera, of course, scolded him and told him NO. He’s been sulking, he’s ready for us to start our family. I kept telling him that this was not a good time, especially not knowing what is going to happen with this whole Luther situation. If Luther thinks that he’s getting my wife without a fight, then he’s got another thing coming. I don’t care who he is. “Let’s go home. This has been a crazy day. I want some peace, quiet and you.” She said leaning into my arms. Then let’s go. I took her hand, and we walked home.
Reign
We got home a little after midnight, we were both tired from the day we had. We went from discussing meeting with Luther to finding out that my mother’s family was actually alive. My grandparents, twin cousins and an uncle, an uncle who basically tried to give my mom away. We still have a lot to discuss once we all get some rest. I just hope that they are here to help and not hurts us. I know Damien will not hesitate to kill them all.
The sun was starting to peek through the skylight, why does the sun have to be so bright? I opened my eyes to Damien watching me with so much love in his eyes. “What are you looking at?” I asked him, of course, I knew the answer, caressing his cheek. He took my hand and kissed my palm. I don’t think I will ever get used to the sparks that come from his touch. He pulled me closer to him. “I love waking up to you next me in our bed.” He said as he trailed his hand under the blanket down to my breast sending goose bumps all over my body. He rolled me on my back and kissed down my jawline to my mark and placed sloppy kisses over it sending waves of pleasure through my body. He continued to kiss my mark as he hovered over me and brushed my entrance with his rock-hard erection. He thrusted in me and made my toes curl. What a way to wake in the morning. We were in no hurry, we took our time, this was more than just a lust filled haze, more than just a craving for each other. This was our love, our future. We both released at the same time, but this was different. He's...stuck..
“Damien what happened?” I asked him a little panicked. “Sshh, baby. It’s okay. I promise.” He cooed. “I’m going to roll us on our side, and I’ll explain, hold on to my shoulders.” He slid his arms under my back, and I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he rolled us on our side and smiled at me. “Don’t be scared, babygirl, this is common. It’s called knotting. It’s when the head enlarges making it impossible to slid out. This is to make sure that enough of the male’s seed is released to ensure a pregnancy and can happen several times before it shrinks enough to slide out.” He explained. “Oh, how long will it last?” “The time varies, at least that’s what dad said. This is, of course, the first time I’ve knotted since I have only been with you.” He assured me gazing into my eyes.” So, then we just lay here and cuddle until you’re done, hoping that I don’t get pregnant or that maybe I do get pregnant?” I softly giggled. “Yup, pretty much.” He chuckled.
We laid in silence in each other’s arms for what seemed like hours. I wasn’t complaining, this was a quiet morning for us, so we weren’t in any hurry to go anywhere. “Babygirl.” Damien said getting my attention. “Yeah. How would you feel if you did get pregnant? We’ve never talked about.” He asked me. “I’ve never really thought about it.” I admitted. “But I don’t think we have to worry too much about it, I’ve been on the pill for about two and half years. I started developing cysts that caused bleeding and pain, several times I ended up in the hospital because of the blood loss. Being put on the pill stopped it all but if I go off it, then it will all start again.” I explained shrugging at him. “I should have told you, but I really didn’t think about, please don’t think that I was keeping it a secret.” I panicked slightly. “Of course, I wouldn’t think that. I’m not mad at you. I understand, are those the little pill packs I found in the bathroom drawer the other day? Yeah. I was going to ask you about them but well we got distracted.” He smirked. “Oh yeah, I remember that day, you caused a very great distraction.” I grinned. “What do you think about after all this mayhem is over, we maybe think about having some pups?” He asked me. “Well, should we have a baby, we would need a bigger place. The way I see it, God or Goddess will bless us with our children when the time is right for us to start our family. I mean I’m barely eighteen.” I giggled. “Don’t get me wrong, I do want to have a family with you but for now I think we need to wait. So, I will stay on the pill and when this craziness is over, I will stop and let nature take its course. Sound like a plan?” I asked him looking up at him through my eye lashes. “Yeah, sounds like a plan.” He said kissing my nose. “We will also need to talk to Aunt Ebony about the cyst issues. Dya may have helped healed those issues, but we would need to ask Ebbie.”
It pretty much took the duration of our conversation for the knot to shrink down enough for him to be able to slide out. We got up, showered, dressed, and made our way to the pack house for breakfast. There was chatter through the living and dining room. “Alpha Damien.” A little voice called. “Are you going to tag anyone?” The little male asked shuffling from foot to foot. Damien looked down at him with a slight frown. “Not at the moment.” He said patting his little shoulder. “When we stop the ones who are after Luna, then I will pick someone to tag and continue the game.” The little male’s eyes went wide, he scowled and puffed his chest out. “I will protect Luna.” He declared proudly. I walked over to him. “I appreciate your bravery but for now, you need to have your breakfast and get to school before your mom comes looking for you.” I told him bending down to his level. He still had his cute little scowl, but I didn’t dare say that as he kissed my cheek and said okay. “Back off little one, she’s mine.” Damien playfully growled at him and raised a brow at him. The little male growled back and ran off. Everyone in the dining room was chuckling. “Looks like you have some competition.” Dad said booming in laughter. “You need to watch out for that one.” I giggled at him and kissed his cheek. “C’mon you have nothing to worry about.” I whispered to him. He chuffed at me and kissed by lips gently.
“Good morning.” Grandma and grandpa said walking in. “Mornin’” I responded. Damien shook his head and grinned. “What?!” I frowned. “Nothing, just your drawl stands out in a room full of Scottish accents.” I frowned at him. “Awe baby, I love your drawl.” He told me rubbing his nose against mine. “You better.” Cloie walked into the dining room, her eyes were wide, and she sat down next to me. “Hey, Cloie, are you okay?” She shook her head. “Not sure, my wolf is antsy, she keeps pacing. She keeps repeating mine over and over again. My stomach is doing flips and my heart is racing.” She said trying to calm herself. “Have you told your mom?” “No.” She whispered. “It all just started, today is my birthday.” “I think you should find her and let her know, I think your mate is near.” Her eyes went a little wider than usual. “It’s okay, go talk to your mom and I will look for you after my meeting and we’ll go sniff him out. I will make sure he understands that he must treat you with respect and then we can celebrate.” I told her doing my happy dance. “He won’t want me.” She sobbed. I hugged her. “Of course, he will. He’d be the luckiest male in the world to have you as his mate and he’d be a fool to reject you. C’mon, let’s go find your mom.” I led her to the kitchen and explained to Ana what was going on. She was beyond excited for her daughter. “I will leave you two to talk and I will find you when I’m done.” Cloie smiled and nodded.
“Our mate is looking for us.” Dyanera said as I made my way to his office. His door was open, and I heard my grandparents, twin cousins, dad and what seems the whole gang. “Maybe we can move to the conference room, it’s a bit crowded in here.” I panted slightly. It felt as if the room was starting to close in on me. “Are you okay?” Grandpa asked rubbing my shoulder. “Yeah, just feeling a little closed in.” I tried to keep my breathing even. “She’s okay.” Jyden said walking over to me. “Believe it or not, she’s claustrophobic, I don’t know why I didn’t think about it sooner. Sorry sis.” He said watching me carefully. “It’s okay. I’ll meet ya’ll there.” I had to get outta there quick before I went to a full-on panic attack. Damien followed me into the conference room and stood behind me. I knew it was him, I could smell his pine forest and fresh rain scent. He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my mark. A wave of calmness flowed through me. “You sure you want to hear all this?” He asked. “No but this is something I need to do.” I told him leaning back against him a little tighter. “Is everyone ready?” Beta Lucas asked. “Let’s get started.” Grandpa started to recount what happened from the time my uncle promised my mom to the Vampire King to now.
