Chapter 54: More Guards
Damien
“What do you want to do with Luther?” Shadow asked after Reign fell asleep. She was only gone for a few days, but it felt like a lifetime. “Keep him in the enchanted silver chains, dose him with wolfsbane and keep him in the cells. No one but high ranks see him. The girls don’t see him alone.” Jyden snorted. “Yeah, I know but it’s an order from their Alpha. That will keep them from arguing with you. Whew, thanks.” Jyden sighed. “Yeah, I know they’re gonna be pissed but they’re gonna have to wait until Reign and Madison recover.” I told him gazing down at my mate. “Ebbie is waiting in your room ready to examine Reign and the babies. Then she will examine Madison.” Dad said hanging up his phone. “Do we know anything about Madison?” Jyden asked. “Moses and the twin wonders are looking into her past.” Shadow assured. The twin wonders are Reign’s cousins. Haha. We need to figure out nicknames for them, we have three sets of identical twins running around. Grant and Grif are the blood twins and Spyder and Spencer are the shadow twins. “Good let me know what they find out. Also see if the blood twins can get more information about their mate. I need to make sure she’s not a threat to our family.” I was concerned she may have helped Reign but that doesn’t mean she’s not a threat. I need to make sure. “We’re on it, we should have more info by morning.” Shadow assured as we pulled up to the house. “Don’t let the blood twins know; they may think we’re out to hurt their Beloved.” I told Shadow.
I carried Reign up to our room, everyone we passed welcomed her home even though she couldn’t hear them, they wanted to welcome her home. They loved her, she won them over from day one. “Alpha,” a little voice called, I looked down and saw the same little male pup that vowed to protect his Luna. “Is Luna, okay?” He asked sadly. “She will be perfectly fine after she gets some rest.” I told him. “And when she’s better you can come visit with her.” He smiled widely. “You promise?” “Of course.” I assured him. “Now, Luna needs to rest, we will see you later.” He touched her foot. “I love you Luna, fell better soon.” He whispered. “C’mon Teddy, we will check back on her tomorrow.” His mom softly said to him and walked him out. We finally made it to our floor and as soon as I walked in, I was surrounded by all the females in our family. Apryl and Grams were at the front. “Oh, my sweet child.” Grams caressed Reign’s cheek. “My baby.” Apryl sobbed. “Where is that monster who took her!?” She gritted trying to control her shift, her nails extended, and her fangs started to push through her gums. “Mom, calm down.” Grace said soothingly. “She needs us to stay calm right now. He’s in our dungeon.” I advised her. “I. Want. Him.” Oh shit, her eyes started glowing red. “Mom,” Grace said again moving closer to her, “calm down. Reign will be okay; she needs to rest, and she will be back on her feet soon. Let Damien take her to their room, Ebbie is waiting.” Aleya said to her aunt. “Dad is guarding Luther; he won’t let anyone near him until Reign is better.” Apryl slowly calmed, kissed Reign’s forehead, and motioned for me to go. I’ve never had any kind of contact with vampires, but I hope I never piss one off. I laid her down, “come ladies let’s make sure our Luna and her pups are okay.” Aunt Ebbie barked orders to her assistants. “Damien, you can wait outside or...” she started but I interrupted. “No! I’m not leaving her or our pups.” I growled. “Calm down.” Aunt Ebbie held her hands up. “I’m sorry...I just...” “It’s okay, I was going to say you can wait outside or stay next to her in case she wakes up.” “Thank you.” She smiled softly at me. I crawled into bed and laid as close to her as I could without getting in Ebbie’s way. “Must kill one who hurt little mate.” Ayres growled. “When she wakes, we will discuss what will be done with him.” I told him. “What do with natural father?” He pondered. “That will be up to her, let’s relax and just hold our mate.” I told him, he sighed and plopped down on his butt and stood guard.
Aunt Ebbie ran her tests, took blood samples, and started an IV line to give her fluids, vitamins, and any needed antibiotics. “Okay, let’s check on these three little troublemakers.” Ebbie chuckled as small round little ass pressed against Reign’s belly. “Oh, so you’re a little smarty pants, huh?” She laughed. “I think this one’s going to be like his Uncle Jyden. Not even born yet and already being a joker.” Reign woke up and coughed through a laugh. “He’s not allowed to hang out alone with Jyden.” She giggled. There’s that giggle of hers that just fills my heart, we laughed as Ebbie looked for each one of our little ones. One by one they showed themselves, like they knew that we needed to see them, that we needed to know that they were okay. Our mooner was going to be our joker, the one who likes to dropkick his mom’s kidneys is going to be our fighter and probably first born and future Alpha and last but not least our little gymnast, who loves to roll around and do backflips. “They all look good.” Aunt Ebbie smiled, both Reign and I sighed in relief. “Ebbie, how’s Madison?” Reign asked. “She’s good, she needs to rest, get some good food in her belly, some vitamins and a little TLC and she should recover in few weeks.” “I’m sure my brothers have the TLC covered no problem.” Reign grinned. “They haven’t left her side. I think she’s even growled at them a few times.” Ebbie laughed. “They were crowding her. Having two mates can’t be easy, maybe Cloie can give her some pointers.” Reign chuckled and yawned. “Well, I’m going to leave the iv-bag going until morning. I will be back in a couple of hours to check on you. Until then, you stay in bed and rest. We will see how you feel in the morning.” Aunt Ebbie ordered. “Can I at least shower and use the bathroom?” Reign frowned. “Of course, but no shower just sponge off in the tub, don’t get the iv wet.” “Deal, I want outta these cloths he gave me.” I said scrunching my face. Oh, hell no! the only clothes she wears are mine. I picked her up, dragging the iv pole with us and took her to the bathroom. I linked Jaz and Ryott to bring clean clothes and some small snacks and juice. I filled the tub with hot water, bath bombs and some soothing essential oils. I helped her step into the tub and settle in. I took her bath sponge and cleansed her body, I washed her hair and rinsed her off. I helped her stand, wrapped her in her favorite fluffy towel and dried her off. After drying her off, I put one of my t-shirts on her along with a pair of sweatpants.
“My clothes are the only ones you wear, other than yours.” I possessively told her. “Thank you, I feel so much better.” She sighed leaning back on the headboard. “Are you hungry?” I asked her. “Duh, of course.” She made a face at me. “I didn’t eat what he gave me. I know these three are starving.” She rubbed her belly. “They were very good through everything, except when he would get near us. It’s like they were bowing up at him.” She smiled. “Such good pups, already trying to protect mumma.” I cooed at her belly; I saw them roll across her stomach. “Okay, you three need to settle down, let mumma eat and rest.” I playfully commanded them. I chuckled as they settled down. “I’m just glad that the Goddess allowed Madison her second chance with my brother’s. They will love her.” She smiled. “It’s late, you need to sleep. We can meet and talk more with everyone in the morning.” I told her moving the tray of food. “I’m going to clean up, I’ll be right back.” I kissed her lips. I watched her as she snuggled in and went through her normal routine of trying to find that one right spot, the one spot where she and the pups are comfortable. One of the pack females gifted her with a pregnancy pillow that she swore helped her sleep and it did, we ended up buy two more for her and the other girls. Now every female gets one as a gift when they get pregnant as a gift from their Queen, Beta, Gamma, and Delta female. The she-wolf that gave her the pillow got a massive gift basket with gift cards, bath bombs and whatever else a she-wolf with little ones may need for me time. I slipped into bed next to her, she scooted closer to me with her back to my chest, a pillow between her knees, my left leg under hers on the pillow and my left arm draped across her belly. It’s the best way for her to sleep, the pups always know when I’m not near and they certainly let her know. She finally fell into a deep sleep as I heard her soft snores. “Little mate cute when snores.” Ayres cooed. “Don’t let her hear you say that I’ll be the one on the receiving end of her annoyance.” I warned him. He rolled his eyes and laughed. Go to sleep furball. He growled at me, rolled himself into a ball and went to sleep. I buried my nose into her hair, inhaled and fell asleep.
“Damien, hunny.” I heard her sweet voice. “Babe, it’s early.” I whispered kissing her neck. “Dbear, I need to go pee, please.” She pleaded squirming. “One of your pups is squeezing my bladder.” I loosened my hold on her, and she waddled to the bathroom. Aunt Ebbie had sent in a nurse a few hours ago to take out the IV. “Aahh...” was all I heard from her. “Feel better?” I laughed. “Not funny, I can have one of the guys dropkick your bladder and see how you feel.” She growled. “Babe, I’m sorry. I know this is uncomfortable.” “No, you don’t...I still have, what? Three more months? And this bullshit with Luther doesn’t help.” She said with frustration. I wrapped her in a tight hug, rubbing her back and whispered words of comfort in her ear. “I’m sorry.” She sighed and lightly sniffled. “Baby girl, don’t apologize, these past few days have been crazy for you.” I soothed. “Let’s go get breakfast, I know everyone is waiting for you, you also have a meet and greet with your little bodyguard, Teddy, he’s been worried about you.” “Teddy?” “Yeah, the little male that vowed to protect you when he's old enough.” She frowned; she was trying to remember him. He asked when I was going to tag someone. Light bulb went off. “Oh, I remember him. Awe, he was worried about me.” She cooed. “The whole pack was worried about you. I was worried.” I whispered the last part. “I was worried myself.” She admitted. “Well, when I’m not with you, you’re going to have personal guards...” “'Babe, I already have four personal guards and I know that you also have Spyder and Spencer hiding in the dark corners. Then I’m assigned two more. Damien, there are better things for them to do.” She said as we walked into the dining room. “The only important thing they hafta to do right now is protect their Queen and their future leaders.” I told her as we made our way to our table. “He’s right sweetie.” Deklyn agreed. “Dad!” she huffed. “I don’t need more guards.” “Okay, okay. Let’s table this for later. We need to eat and talk about what to do next.” Jenny said. “C’mon, the pack is waiting. They need, they want to see their Luna.” Mom said. “Open the dividers.” Dad ordered and two guards opened the divider doors.
I snaked my arm around her waist, and we greeted them. Little Teddy came running to us and I caught him in my arms and lifted him to be eye level with Reign. “Luna, you’re safe.” He said hugging her. “I sorry I couldn’t protect you.” He frowned. “Tell you what, when our pups are born and you turn sixteen, you can help protect them and train them.” She told them. “Really?” He lit up. “Yup, but you have to work hard, train hard, follow all the rules, listen to your parents and finish school.” “I promise.” He assured. “Thank you, Luna.” He hugged her neck. “Teddy, come on let’s leave their majesties, they have to start the meal.” His dad called him. “See ya later your majesty.” He kissed her cheek. “Hey, hey, hey! Back off little man, she’s mine.” I playfully growled at him, and he growled back with a grin. I put him down and he went with his dad.
“Everyone, please sit.” I announced. I guided Reign to our table, we sat down, well I sat down and pulled her to my lap. She rolled her eyes at me as Ana set our plate down. Granpa said a quick prayer of thanks to the Gods and Goddesses. I fed my mate the first bite of our meal, signaling to the pack to eat. We ate, talked, pack members would come over and tell Reign how happy they are that she’s home and safe. Her family all came in one at a time, Grant and Grifyn walked in with Madison sandwiched between them. Her eyes met Reign’s. “Hey Reign.” She shyly waved. “Madison.” Reign beamed pulling Madison into a hug. “I’m so happy to see you. Are these knuckleheads treating you right?” She eyeballed her brothers. Madison giggled. “Yes, they’ve been perfect gentlemen.” Grace put the back of her hand on each of her brother’s forehead, they swatted her hand away. “My brother’s perfect gentlemen?” She snorted. “That’s a first.” “Hey! Don’t tell her that!” They scolded as we all laughed. Madison covered her mouth trying not to laugh. She leaned into each of them and pecked each of their cheek. “See, we are perfect for her.” They grumbled. Most of the pack members had already started their day, it was just family sitting with us. “Spencer, go ahead and close the dividers, please.” I asked him. “Moses let’s get the rest of the family in here, including Mac, Bea and Duncan.” Moses nods and goes to round everyone up. “Sweetie.” Grams hugged Reign tight and then was pulled into another tight hug by Apryl. “I’m so relieved you’re safe. Your dad and I were so worried.” She said fighting tears. “You...I have always thought of you as my own child. Even before he decided to come see you, he’s told me everything about you and your mom. I know I could never replace her, and I would never try to but if you let me. I would be honored to build our own mother-daughter relationship.” Apryl said continuing to hug Reign. “I would love that.” Reign smiled between sniffled and embraced Apryl harder. Before she could say anything else her eyes widen as she sniffed the air.
“No, no, no! What’s he doing here?” She froze. “All this is your fault!” She roared, she actually roared. She has never roared, ever. “Babygirl, please, he’s the one who warned Mac about Luther. He helped us find you, he knew where Luther was keeping you.” I explained. “Reign, there’s so much more you need to know.” Jenny sighed rubbing her forehead. “Reign.” Steven called out to her. “I’m sorry for all the pain and hurt I caused you and your mom.” He started. “I found you and your mom by accident while she was at MD Anderson. I was there for a fundraiser when I saw you. You looked so much like your mom, I thought you were her. I followed you to her room. I watched and waited until you left the room. I went in and my heart fell. I never knew she was sick.” He told her. “Why would you? She was hiding from you.” She snapped. “I know, I wish that things had been different, and I told her that. I apologized to her. We talked, she told me all about you and Deklyn’s death.” Reign frowned at Deklyn; he wiggled his fingers at her. “She told me something that changed my world.” He reached for her hand, she didn’t flinch or pull away. “A few days after she escaped, she went back to check on her parents, she stopped at a little diner before she went to meet your dad. I had no idea she was there.” He told her. “My mom gave her a potion that hid her scent and changed her appearance.” Jenny chimed in. “All I saw was a drop-dead gorgeous female, I had no shame at that time.” Reign narrowed her eyes at him. “I tried to talk to her but of course, she wanted nothing to do with me. Me being who I was at the time, I bought a piece of apple pie.” He looked down in shame. “I drugged the pie and had the waitress give it to her as part of some kinda give away.” He couldn’t look at Reign, he moved to the window and stared out. “When I saw that the drugs were setting in, I watched her walk out and followed her.” She was staggering, “I went up to her, helped her into my car and took her back to my hotel room.” Reign closed her eyes, her jaw clenched, and her fists were bawled up very tight that her knuckles were white. “If you finish that statement, I can’t promise that I won’t kill you.” She hissed lowly.
“Babygirl, you need to stay calm; the babies are going to feel your anger. I already feel your anger.” I tried to sooth her, she took deep breaths as I rubbed her back and then moved to her baby belly. “She knew it was me and did her best to avoid me but...anyway. As we talked about that she told me that she had gotten pregnant.” “No, Deklyn is my father!” She yelled. “He’s the one who’s always been there for me.” She looked at Deklyn. “Daddy,” she whispered; he was by her side in a blink of an eye. “I am and will always be your daddy, this doesn’t change anything. Well, other than you having another dad.” He gave her a small smile. “I don’t think so! He’s the reason...” “He’s the reason you’re here in my arms.” I interrupted her. “So, you’re on his side?” A look of betrayal crossed her face. “No, I’m always on your side but he did help us, he helped you, he protected you. As much as I am disgusted by what he’s done, I still can’t deny that because of him I have you and our unborn pups here with me.” I cupped her cheeks. “Reign, I’m not asking for you to call me dad, I know that I have a lot to make up for. All I would ask is for you to, please, try to forgive me.” He pleaded. “Tell me about him,” she demanded. “As I said he is my adopted son. His mother was my sister, who was a vampire, were killed while on vacation after an Alpha conference. He was only one when they died, so I adopted him and raised him as my own. He’s, my cousin?” She thought to herself. “Did he know who I was to you when I was stupid enough to go out with him?” “No, all he knew was that you were Nadia’s daughter and what I had planned.” “Did you know that he was beating me?” “Not until it was too late. If I had known sooner, I would have stepped in sooner. When I found out what he was doing, I threw him the cells for six months. “Those were the best six months for me. It felt good to be able to talk to people without him breathing down my neck.” She smiled. “But then the stalking started, the notes, the calls, we had a feeling it was him, but we had no proof. That’s when Mac brought in Damien and my own private team fuzzy ninjas.” Shadow huffed and rolled his eyes. Reign blew Shadow a kiss and a wink. “Whatever.” he huffed.
“It wasn’t until he was arrested that I found out about him stalking you. I went to go bail him out, but he had somehow escaped, the police questioned me for hours.” He frowned. “When I realized that the Hunt family was in charge of your safety, I knew you were in good hands. Word got to me that your grandparents and twin cousins found you and that you were mated to the elder Hunt wolf, I was surprised but I knew he would treat you like the Queen you are.” He confessed. “So why did you come here the way you did? And with Luther standing by your side?” She asked with narrowed eyes
