Chapter 23 – You Will Not Take Her
Damien
How could this happen? I told her that I didn’t want her using the extended stages. I couldn’t control that area the way I needed to. I had extra men there but there were still way too many people to be able to be in full control and when it comes to Reign, I have to be in full control of her safety. I watched as she was being dragged away screaming, kicking and fighting trying to get away from him. Thank the Goddess she took kickboxing, and she could try and fight him off. That fucker, Luther, he has some balls trying to take her like this. My guys and me made our way through the crowd with the fans pointing in the direction Luther took her. Fluff and Furry were right on their heels and I had other men go to the front of the stadium, the fans opened the way to where I would find my mate. I could hear people yelling for him to let her go and him threatening to hurt her if any of them got to close. Someone got his attention and she used that to her advantage. She kicked him in the balls and punched him in the face, but he recovered quickly and punched her in the nose and stomped down on her left leg. He was standing over her ready to inflict more pain but before I could make my move Shadow lunged at him slamming him to the wall. I heard the crowd gasping and cheering. I could see some fans hovering over Reign’s body trying to protect her from more injury and Fluff and Furry were laying across her protecting her. I lunged at the fucker who tried to take my mate.
“What makes you think that you can take my woman from me?” I growled at him. The police were trying to pull me off him. All I could see in that moment was red, it took every ounce of energy I had to not shift in front of all these humans and make things worse, Ayres was on the warpath and was demanding to be let out, he wanted blood. “Damien please.” Her voice called out to me, my heart felt like it was being stabbed over and over, it was the pain she was suffering. I was by her side in a blink of an eye. “Babygirl, I’m so sorry I let you down.” I sighed sadly. She put her hand on my cheek, I took her hand and put it against my lips. I rode with her to the hospital. I could see the bruising start to show up on her face. It didn’t matter to me; she’ll always be beautiful to me. She was immediately taken to surgery to repair her knee. They would also have a look at her nose to see what damage there is and repair whatever damage there was. We were all waiting in the surgical waiting room and to give us some privacy, anyone who was in waiting area were moved to a different room. Mac and Duncan were talking with the police, and I paced the floor with Fluff and Furry pacing as well. I need to make sure give them a good steak dinner, they did great and helped protect Reign.
“Dude, with as big as you are, you’re going to wear a hole in the floor.” Ryott commented with a small chuckle as she looked Jyden up and down. “Are you sure he’s your brother?” She grinned. “What? Of course, he’s my brother. Why would you ask that?” He said furrowing his brows. I laughed to myself at her question and his response. Ryott looked from Jyden to me a couple of time and giggled. “Jyd, he’s like three times bigger than you.” I chuckled, but even though Jyden is smaller than me by only about five inches and fifty pounds, he’s one hell of a fighter and he’s powerful. “Well.” Jyd started. “I got the brains, and he got the brawn.” He snickered at me. “Very funny little brother.” I told him. We talked for a while, but I was getting impatient, I needed to know how my girl is doing, no one has given us any kind of update. I need to be with her, this is driving me crazy, and Ayres is pacing and growling. He’s giving me a headache, but he doesn’t care, Ayres like me, wants his mate. Jazlyn grabbed my arm and urged me to sit down, she wrapped her arm around my shoulder, and I slumped in her arms and quietly sobbed. As an Alpha, we never show weakness but when it comes to our mate, they are our weakness.
“Damien, the doctor is here.” Jaz whispered to me. I stood up wiping my tears away. I need to be strong for Reign. Mac and Duncan walked in behind the doctor. “How is she?” I asked a little gruffer than I meant. Jaz squeezed my arm. “Sorry doc.” ”It’s okay, I understand.” He smiled. His smile must mean something good. “Well, you have yourself a little spite fire, she’s awake and not happy at all. May I assume that you’re Damien?” He asked. “Yes.” I chuckled. I already knew where this was going. “She demanding to see you. She’s very upset and is stressing herself out. Her heart rate is very high, and she needs to rest. I need you to help calm her down, please.” The doctor said. I didn’t even let him finish, I ran off as the doctor yelled, “Room 203.” With that I sprinted off, I could hear her yelling, sobbing and frantically crying. “Fluff, Furry come!” I yelled out and they obediently followed.
The nurse was trying hard to calm her down. “Please Ms. Rose, I need for you to stay calm. Your blood pressure is too high.” I heard the nurse tell her as I opened the door, stepped in, and made eye contact with her. “Damien.” She cried. I quickly moved to her side and wrapped her in my arms. “I thought you left me.” She sobbed. “What? Never.” He told her softly. “You’re stuck with me.” I chuckled. “I’ve been in the waiting room, pacing back and forth. Ryott thought I was going to make a hole where I was pacing.” I chuckled. She was already starting to calm down, her heart rate was back to normal, and her breathing was no longer erratic. I even felt my tension melt away. I had her in my arms, and I had no intention of leaving her side anytime soon. F & F jumped up on the bed and cuddled around her.
The nurse came in with some seven-up and jello, but Reign had fallen asleep, and I didn’t want to wake her up. The nurse sent in one of those chairs that turn into a bed. They checked her vitals and I tried to move to the chair, but she had my arm in a death grip and wouldn’t let go. The nurse giggled. “I can give you an extra pillow, doesn’t look like she’s gonna let you go anytime soon.” “Yes, thank you, that would be great.” She smiled and handed me a pillow. I didn’t want to move for fear of waking her up and she gets scared again. I texted Jaz telling her that they should go back to the hotel and get some rest. We wouldn’t be leaving anytime soon but as soon as the doctor gives the all clear, we will be leaving. Until then, I will not be leaving her room. I decided to turn on the tv, as I flipped through the channels, I came across a news report about Reign’s attempted abduction. Her suspected abductor was still in jail with over a two-million-dollar cash bond. I had no idea if he had access to those kinds of funds. It looked like the tv crews were at the hotel and they stopped Jaz, throwing questions at her right and left.
“First, we want to thank all the fans who stepped in to help Ryven until our security team could reach her, without their help, she may not be here with us. Second, she’s doing well, she’s resting under tight security. She will recover and be back on her feet in a few months. I know that she appreciates all the love, concern and prayers that are being sent her way, I and the rest of the band also appreciate what was done by our fans to protect her. We ask that the news media of all kinds, please give us privacy. This has been a horrible and scary event and several months for all of us. We appreciate your understand and cooperation. Our security team is not one to be challenged. We promise that when Ryven is feeling better and this matter is resolved, she will make a statement. Thank you.” She finished. Damn I never realized how eloquent she could be. Reporters started throwing questions at her, but she politely said good night and went into the hotel. We had to tighten security here at the hospital and the hotel.
Shadow, Spyder and Spencer stayed at the hospital with me while Moses and the rest of the team went to the hotel to rest and wait. Moses made phone calls to arrange for our departure as soon as Reign was released. Every few hours, security guards would bring in flowers, stuffed animals and cards. Each item was inspected, picture taken, the flowers were given to other patients and the stuffed animals were sent to the children’s ward. There was no way we could keep up with all it. I kept a few of the cute stuffies that I thought she might like. I did double check them to make sure that there was nothing sneaky about them. You can never be sure, and I was not taking any chances with my love, the radiology department offered to scan everything to make sure there was nothing hiding in them.
