Chapter 27 – Finally Home

Damien

“Mr. Hunt.” Ronnie called out. “we will be landing in about thirty minutes.” He said clearing the plates and glasses. I reached over and buckled Reign’s seatbelt; she was out in a very deep sleep. The doctor gave her some strong muscle relaxers to help with pain and to help her relax for the flight back home, my home, our home. She still hadn’t woken up by the time we landed and were ready to get off the plane. “Give me a just a few more minutes, please.” She whined. I chuckled and picked her up and carried her bridal style to the waiting car that will be taking us to the helipad. It would be another hour and then we would finally be home. When we landed my parents were waiting for us, we used two helicopters to get us back to the village. I was the last one off the chopper with my mate in my arms. I could see the pride and happiness on my parents faces. Mom was very anxious to see my little mate again. She was very happy that we were all home but the joy on her face turned to worry as I neared her. She saw the injuries on Reign, she wiped a tear from her eye.

“My poor child.” She whispered as she ran her fingers through Reign’s hair. Mom stood straight and gathered herself. “Well, she’s safe now. No one will hurt ever again.” She said stifling a sob. She lovingly looked at my mate and then me. “Come along, we have your room ready as requested.” She smiled as she led the way back to the pack house. “The doctor will be by in about twenty minutes to check on her. So, make sure you have all of her medical records ready.” She reminded me. Mom helped get Reign settled in, I set out her medications and a couple of bottles of water on the nightstand. I checked on her one more time, kissed her forehead, she mumbled my name, “Damien.” I ran my thumb along her cheek and watched as a smile crossed her lips. I went to take a quick shower and ate a little something off the tray of food my mom had brought up to our room. As I walked out of the bathroom, there was a knock at the door. I walked quickly over to the door, not wanting it to wake Reign. It was our pack doctor, Dr. Ebony, Ebbie for short. “Damien, how are you?” Ebbie asked. “Tired, worried, relived and happy to be home all balled into one.” I snorted. She smiled gently at me and gave me a hug. “It’s good to have you home Alpha. Now, let me take a look at our Luna.” She said walking further into our room. “She’s sleeping, please try not to wake her.” I told her. “I will do my best. How was the flight? Did she have any problems?” She asked as she gently examined Reign. “No, no problems other than a little frustration.” “That’s to be expected. Do you have her medical records?” “Yeah, Dr. Green said to call him if you have questions.” “Thank you. She seems good, I think she should sleep through the night. Do you have anything for her in case she wakes?” She asked as she took Reign’s pulse. “Dr. Green gave us some sleeping pills and pain medication before we left.” I told her showing her the medication bottles. “Good, if you need anything at all overnight, you don’t hesitate to call me. I want you to bring her to my office tomorrow after breakfast, I'll be there all day.” She patted my shoulder. “You try and get some sleep. Good night.” “Good night, Ebbie, thank you and see you tomorrow.”

Reign was still sound asleep when I finally laid down. I couldn’t believe how exhausted I was, these past couple of weeks had more excitement, if you want to call it that, than I ever want again. I would need to talk to my mom about planning a birthday celebration for Reign, we didn’t get to celebrate like I had wanted to. She deserved to be able to celebrate, it’s an important milestone that should be celebrated. Mom loves throwing parties. “Hey mom.” I called through mind link. “Damien, is everything okay?” She asked with worry. “Is Reign, okay?” “Yeah, yeah, everything is good, she is fast asleep.” I assured her. “Oh, thank the Goddess. Did you need something?” “I was wondering if you would mind putting a small celebration together for her. We didn’t really get to celebrate her birthday properly.” I admitted. “Of course, I will start with a special breakfast for her and then we can have a pack barbeque to welcome all of you home and her favorite cake.” She started rambling. “You do what her favorite cake is?” She asked. “She loves cheesecake with strawberries and chocolate and that tiramisu cake, really anything with strawberries and chocolate.” I chuckled. “Perfect, I will get things going first thing.” She said excitedly. “You get some rest, son. I’ll see you in the morning. I love you and so happy that all of you are home.” “Goodnight mom. I love you too.”

I finally settled in and as if on instinct, Reign scooted over to me and nestled herself against my side. I hadn’t planned on pulling her close to me but I’m glad that she did it herself, she knew I was near. I gently wrapped my arms around her, and she nestled tighter against me and placed her small hand on my stomach. Her touch sent sparks shooting through my body. “Little mate love us.” Ayres cooed. He’s being a big ole sap right now. “I don’t know buddy.” I told him. He huffed at me, “of course she love us, she our little mate and I love little mate.” He grumbled at me. “Must mark and claim little mate, NOW!” He demanded. “Ayres! NO! She’s not ready and besides, she needs to heal.” I reminded him. “Now go to sleep, I’m tired.” He kept grumbling but he finally settled in for the night. I kissed Reign’s forehead and drifted off to sleep.
