Chapter 29- Pack Doctor

Damien

“Hey doc!” Reign greeted. She’s always happy and always has a smile for all she meets and comes into contact with. “Ah, Reign, Damien, glad you’re here. I’ve reviewed your medical records, x-rays, MRI and all the other tests they did before you left the hospital, which was a few days ago and I want to go ahead get some new ones and see where you’re at now that we are a few weeks out from the initial injury.” She said making notes in folder. “Alpha, we’re going to be a while so if you have any work to do you can take care of that while I run all the tests and I will let you know when we are done.” She told me. “If it’s all the same to you doc, I would prefer to stay with her.” I told her clenching my fists. “I know that we are home and she’s safe among us, but I am still not ready to leave her alone.” I explained. “She won't be alone Damien; I will be with her.” Ebbie huffed at me. “I know you will be, but Ayres am just still very much on edge.”

Reign grabbed my hand and gently caressed it and quickly changed the subject. “Hey doc?” Reign called out and Ebbie looked over at her with a soft smile. “I should’ve asked earlier but what’s your name? Doctor what?” She asked with a sheepish smile. “I’m surprised that Damien didn’t tell you, my name is Dr. Hunt...Ebony Hunt.” “Wait?” Reign perked up. “Dr. Hunt? Are you two related?” She asked staring right at me. I chuckled. “Yup, she’s, my auntie.” I smiled giving my aunt a big hug. “Damien, you should have told her before you got here.” My auntie scolded me. I shrugged my shoulders and walked back over to Reign. “Damien, go and get your work done. We'll be okay. I promise.” My aunt told me. I frowned; I still wasn’t ready to leave her side, so much has happened, and Ayres is still on edge. “You run your tests; I will wait out front.” I told them. I leaned down and kissed Reign on her forehead. “I will be outside waiting, just call me if you need me and I will be by your side in no time.” She smiled at me, and I went out front.

I waited outside for about two hours. I did whatever work I could from my phone, I answered emails, responded to text messages, Jyd even brought me paperwork to sign. “So, how’s she doing?” Jyd asked as I reviewed a file, he brought me. “Ebony is running more tests; she wants to see how she’s progressed since the first tests and scans were done.” I told him. “Why are you out here? Why not be with Reign or go back to your office?” “Aunt Ebony kicked me out and I don’t want to leave Reign alone, much less be far away if she needs me.” “Bro, we're home, she’s safe and all the boarders are being watched with an eagle’s eye. We have paperwork out our asses that need your attention. Shadow, Spencer and Spyder already have eyes on her and are hiding out in the shadows somewhere. Once she’s done here, the girls are waiting for her, they'll spend some time with her while you, Koltyn and I go through the paperwork.” Jyd said patting me on the back. “The quicker we get it done, the more time you can be with her. Dad has already reviewed, made notes and has those little sign here tabs ready for you. It’s dummy proof.” Jyd slapped my back, I swung, and he ducked laughing at me like a wildman. The little shithead.

“Excuse me, Alpha, Luna is ready.” My aunt’s assistant informed me. I nodded, said goodbye to my dumb ass brother and went to my mate. “Babygirl.” I called as I knocked on the door. “Come in.” Her soft voice echoed. I opened the door and there she sat, my angel with her long black hair neatly laying on her shoulder looking at me with a soft smile. “Hey! Were you outside this whole time?” She asked me with a frown. “Of course, I was.” I told her. “I told you that I wasn’t going to leave you alone again. Ayres and I are not ready to be separated from you.” She brought her hand to my cheek. “Ya know you can’t be with me all the time. You have a pack to take care of, you can’t keep putting off your work.” She started. “Besides, I know that Shadow, Spyder and Spencer are around here somewhere keeping an eye on me. I have no plans on going anywhere anyway. I’m tired, my body hurts and I just want to kick back and relax.” She said trying to stretch but couldn’t because her ribs still hurt.

“Damien, I see you have returned?” My aunt said with a smirk. “Okay, I’ve reviewed the all the tests, everything looks good so far. You have made some good progress, but you still have a way to go. I want to see you again in about two weeks, we will get another round of scans and go from there. If anything comes up between now and then, please don’t hesitate to contact me.” She finished with a smile. “That’s great news.” I cheered. “But I still can’t walk.” Reign huffed. “No, my dear, not yet. You still have a lot of healing to do from the looks of the x-rays, the break was very bad. The doctor's had to use a rod and pins to put it back together. It's going to take you at least six months to heal and then we can start your physical therapy.” Reign let out a heavy sigh. “I know it's hard but it's important that you take it easy and stay off that leg until then.” My aunt sternly instructed. “Yes ma’am. Thank you...” my aunt interrupted her. “Please, call me Ebony, Ebbie or auntie, we’re family now.” She said hugging Reign then me. My aunt’s assistant pushed in a wheelchair. “No, no, no. No wheelchair, can I just use crutches?” Reign whined. “Uhhh...no.” I told her. She scowled at me. “I will be carrying you wherever you need to go.” She scoffed. “And what about when you’re not around?” She smugly asked. Dammitt she’s right. “Fine but when we're together I’m carrying you.” “But...” ...”No but’s...” I placed a kiss on her cute little button nose. “Whatever.” She said as I picked her up in my arms and asked my aunt to have the crutches sent to our house. “Hang in there love.” I told her moving her into the golf cart that she would be using to get around the village. “I have something to show you.” I smiled at her, she nodded and took a deep breath trying to relax.
