Chapter 30 – Her Gift
Damien
Three years ago, after I found Reign, I began building a home for us, a home where we could be alone and unburdened with the everyday stress of the pack at the end of the day. It’s away from the prying eyes of the pack but close enough that I, we, could be there in no time if needed. A place where, if we wanted to, we can be naked and away from the eyes of the pack. I hope she likes it; I hope she accepts this home, it’s my gift to her. Her happiness and safety are all that matter to me.
“We’re here.” I told her; I was excited. I helped her out of the golf cart and carried her little ways into the forest area. “Look.” I told her nodding my head for her to look ahead of us. “Happy birthday babygirl.” I whispered in her ear, and I placed her on her feet. She looked wide eyed at the home I built for her, for us. “Damien.” She gasped as a tear trailed down her cheek. “This is for me. For us?” She looked over at me with surprise. “Yes. I started building it the day I found you. Well not the exact day but when I got back, I had an architect friend of mine draw up several different designs. This is the one I liked the most.” I told her. “Do you like it?” I asked her with hope. She reached out her hand to me, gripped my arm and looked up at me with her beautiful smile. “I love it!” She exclaimed. “It’s beautiful.” She said as tears continued to trail down her cheek. “Please don’t cry babygirl.” I said wrapping her in my arms. “I’m sorry, it’s just that no one has ever done anything like this for me before. I haven’t been this happy in…I don’t know how long.” She sniffled and nuzzled her face to my chest. “C’mon, let me show you around.” I said lifting her chin with my index finger so she’s looking at me, she nodded her head. I turned my back to her, jump up. and I carried her piggyback style.
“This is the patio, I installed panels that go out and surround the patio for when it rains or gets cold. Over there is the staircase that leads to the main floor.” I walked up the stairs that took us directly to the living room. “It has floor to ceiling windows looking out over the forest and pond.” I took her to the kitchen which had all brand-new appliances with a bar area that separated the kitchen and dining room, there was another door that led to a second covered patio. Her eyes were wide looking and taking in everything. I next took her to the second floor that is the entertainment room which has a big screen tv, hundreds of movies and every game system and games you can think of. Next was the third floor, our bedroom. It was one big room with a king size bed in the middle of the room, a huge walk-in closet on one side of the room, one the other side of the room was the master bathroom. I had a huge flat screen tv mounted on the wall across from our bed and several couches and chaise loungers.
“Damien, this absolutely amazing! I love it!” She said gripping my arm a little tighter. I placed her carefully down on the bed and she threw herself back on the bed looking up at the ceiling. I flipped a switch next to the bedside lamp and the ceiling began to open up. “Yup, I had a sky light added above our bed.” It would be great for star gazing, yeah me a star gazer. Not a chance, not when I have my very own star to gaze at whenever I wanted. “What about the pack house? We can stay there if you want, or we can stay here, away from the craziness of the pack house. It’s up to you, whatever you want. There’s no rush for anything.” I assured her sitting next to her. She scooted closer to me and leaned her head on my shoulder. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to those damn sparks. We both sat in silence flipping through the tv channels, she settled on the sci-fi channel, she was content on watching cheesy horror movies.
“Reign, Damien, are you here?” A voice called from downstairs. “Up here Jaz.” I told her turning the tv off and carrying Reign downstairs. “You and Jyden have a way interrupting our alone time.” I grumbled at her. My mate nudged me with her elbow. “Hey.” I huffed at her rubbing the spot she poked. It didn’t hurt but it made her giggle. “Sorry but dad needs to talk to you.” She told me. “Hey guys.” Ryott greeted. “We gonna hang out here or go hang out at the pack house while the boys talk with Pops?” “Pack house, I need to go and get my things to bring over here.” She said meeting my gaze. “We are gunna start staying here.” “Okay.” Jaz said. “Well let’s go before dad sends out the calvary.” We all laughed at that comment, “dad’s not a very patient man.”
I carried my mate to the golf cart and were joined by Jaz and Ryott. The girls chatted and giggled on the way to the house. My mate is even more beautiful every time she smiles, her laugh is contagious I can’t help but laugh with her. We walked into the pack house. “Do you want to go to the room or wait here?” I asked her. “I’ll wait here.” She said motioning to the couch. I gently set her on the couch, I didn’t want to leave her, I needed to be with her, our bond was getting stronger and making it hard to be apart from her. Jyden came running downstairs. “Damien, c’mon! Dad’s waiting! It’s important, it has to do with Ry…shit sorry. I didn’t know you were here Reign.” He said stopping in his tracks.
