Chapter 22: Void of all Emotions

***Guinevere***

My parents, Damien’s dad, they’d all been influenced by a witch’s potion. Someone had wanted vengeance so badly on the Valencia family that they’d resorted to tarnishing the mate bond. My entire existent, the way the entire pack had treated me growing up, the fact that my identity was the daughter of a traitor. It was all a lie.

“Damien,” I said jumping up from the bed excitedly, “Do you know what this letter means? We can clear my family’s name. We need to show it to your father immediately. We need to show it to the entire council.”

Damien leaned forward and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me back down onto the bed.

“Yes, Gwynn. First thing in the morning I will inform my father of this letter. Then we will introduce you to the pack as their Luna. But right now I want to crawl into bed with my mate. I’ve had too much adventure today.”

Damien yawned, and pulled down the covers, crawling into bed. He patted the spot beside him, beckoning to him. I crawled into bed and took my permanent space by his side. I turned my body towards him and nuzzled my face against his chest, drifting off into a peaceful sleep.

“Guinevere, Guinevere.”

I opened my eyes and was greeted by the familiar face of the moon goddess.

“Luna,” I smiled up at her. We were no longer in our normal visiting spot. I looked around smiling, realizing that I was in the moon realm. That our moon goddess, Luna, had brought her daughter home.

“I see you remember me dear child. And I see you’re bearing the mark of your mate. Does that also mean that you remember the war that’s coming?”

“Yes, Luna. I do remember and recall everything, but Luna, how am I suppose to be Jupiter. He is the god of war.”


Luna smiled down at me, determination glistening in her eyes. “With love, patience, and strategy. You, my dear child, are the only one who can beat Jupiter. Each and every night, I will bring you here to me, in the moon realm and we will train together. I will teach you all of Jupiter’s weaknesses, I will show you how to wield My daughter’s magic.”

“Won’t I just forget our lessons when I awake?”

“No, you won’t forget them. I have solved that mystery too. When we met previously we met in the Earth Realm, which is neutral territory for the Gods. Jupiter was able to gain access to your mind there and play tricks on it causing your memory to vanish. From now on we will be meeting in the Moon Realm, which is my territory. In this realm I have complete control. Jupiter has no access here.”

“You said Earth was neutral territory, didn’t your father create the Earth Realm? Shouldn’t that be his territory?”

Tears glistened the moon goddess’s eyes. “Guinevere, my father is dead. When Jupiter found out my father and mother had helped hide my pregnancy and hide Sabrina from him, he ambushed the both of them, killing them in a rage of fury. The Earth normally would’ve gone to the next male heir, but my father didn’t have a male heir, and Jupiter and I didn’t have children, thank the Heavens, so the Earth realm became neutral territory.”

“What territory does Jupiter have control over?” I asked intrigued. I had so many questions and I lived by the philosophy that it was wise to know thy enemy.

“The reason Jupiter was so hell bent on marrying me and having me bare his heirs is because he doesn’t have a territory. By marrying me and me blessing him with heirs, he would’ve gained two territories, the moon and the Earth. As you know however, that did not occur. Instead of a territory, Jupiter resides over the dark emotions, the more darkness there is in the world, the stronger Jupiter becomes. With each pack his vanquishes he becomes stronger. When you finally face off with Jupiter he will be the strongest he’s ever been. Which is why the questions must cease for now and we must begin your training.”

I gulped. Jupiter would be stronger now than he ever was. How was I, a brand new shifter, suppose to overcome him.

‘Don’t worry Guinevere.’ Sabrina piped up in the back of my head. ‘I was reborn for this, this is my… this is our Destiny.’

With renewed confidence thanks to Sabrina, I pushed down my self doubt and nodded to The moon goddess. “I am ready to learn how to defeat Jupiter.”

“The first thing you must learn how to do is turn off your emotions. Jupiter will feed off of you and as a Luna, your emotions will be poured into every pack member. If at any point at all in the battle, you feel like all is lost, and you’ve given up hope, Jupiter will win.”

“How am I suppose to shut off my emotions?”

“By putting up a mental block. The easiest way to do that is by concentrating on something other than how you’re feeling.”

I looked at the moon goddess confused.

“But that’s completely against human nature.”

“You’re not only a human, Guinevere. You’re also a wolf. And you’re not an average wolf. Your wolf is the spirit of my child. You’re stronger than you give yourself credit for. It is also in your nature to block your emotions. Just try to block your emotions.”

The moon goddess and I practiced blocking my emotions for what felt like hours. But everything we did, ended in failure. I felt mentally exhausted and I had the beginnings of a migraine.

“That’s enough for tonight child. You will need your strength today, during your Luna Meeting. I will bring you to me again tonight. I want you to practice blocking your emotions throughout the day. By tonight, I want you to have mastered that ability completely. We do not have the time to repeat any of our lessons here. Jupiter will arrive at the Full Moon Pack territory within a fortnight.”

“Yes, Luna,” I said, slightly bowing my head in respect.

When I lifted my head again I was met with complete darkness.

‘It’s alright Gwynn, just rest. Right now you’re in a state of nothingness. This will allow you to get the most amount of sleep in what little time we have left. Your mind will be completely blank. Nothing will disturb you.’ Sabrina reassured me,

Liking the sound of nothingness, I drifted off into the darkness.
