Chapter 37: The Vampires

***Guinevere***

“So Mi Amor, it’s your choice on whether we become lovers or not.”

It had been two weeks since Vladimir had uttered those words to me. It had been two and a half weeks since I had seen Damien in person. Two and a half weeks and I still felt as hurt as the day he’d left. I know he left to make the pack better for the both of us, but I still feel betrayed. We were mates, we should never be apart. I am also his Luna. He should have trusted in my abilities to help make the pack better.

Vladimir has been my shoulder to cry on. He has become my best friend in my time of need. I thought it would be awkward to talk to Vladimir about Damien but it wasn’t . Vladimir had explained to me that he could feel everything I was feeling through our soul connection, which made it really easy for me to vent to him.

“So tonight is your crowning ceremony, are you nervous?” Vladimir asked me startling me from my train of thoughts.

I didn’t hesitate to answer. “No not at all. The vampire community has been very welcoming.”

“Well of course, you are their Queen, even if we are not lovers.” Vladimir waggled his eyebrows at me teasing me.

***Two weeks earlier***

“So? Would you like me to throw you in my bed and fuck you until you forget all the hurt you’re feeling right now, or would you like for me to hold you while you cry.” Vladimir asked.

I was hesitant to answer not wanting to hurt his feelings, but also knowing that I needed to stay true to myself.

“As tempting as your offer is Vladimir, and trust me you are very tempting, my heart, my mind, and my body belong to Damien.”

“Well damn.” Vladimir sighed pulling me into a hug.

I peered up at him, knowing that being rejected could cause an intense amount of pain, but Vladimir didn’t seem to be effected.

“I haven’t hurt you, have I?” I asked concerned for his well being.

“Mi Amor, you could never hurt me. As long as I am a part of your life, as long as you share your soul with me, my life is complete.” Vladimir leaned down and kissed the top of my head pulling me in a little tighter. “This right here, Guinevere Valencia, Queen of Vampires, Luna of the Blue Moon Pack, this is enough for me. I’ve waited centuries for you.”

We stood there for what seemed like hours. Vladimir holding me while I wept, I shed all the grief from the past few months, all the grief from a lifetime, until I couldn’t cry any longer.

“Now that we’ve got that business out of the way,” Vladimir said smiling pulling away from me, “What would you say about meeting the rest of the colony. They have been waiting patiently to be introduced to their Queen.”

“Their Queen? Right now? Are you sure? Do I look okay.” I wiped my hands across my face trying to clean the smears, and then pulled on my shirt, trying to straighten it out.

“Yes their Queen, even though we will not be fully mated, you’re still my soul keeper, making you Queen of the Vampires. And yes I am sure Guinevere, I’ve been waiting a millennium to introduce you. And you are as beautiful as ever.”

I felt a blush creeping up. I still wasn’t used to being called beautiful by anyone besides my parents.

“This meeting will be informal, of course. In two weeks time, we will have your crowing ceremony, and everyone will be in attendance.”

“Everyone?” I ask, my head tilted to the side and my eyebrows raised.

“Yes.” Vladimir said nodding like he’d just cemented his decision. “Everyone, all the nearby vampire colonies and of course the Blue Moon Pack. After you’re coronated we will tell them of the upcoming war.”

I felt myself feel with dread again, after everything that had happened this last week, Jupiter and his war was the furthest thing on my mind.

Vladimir reached out and massaged my shoulder. “Don’t worry Mi Amor. We will defeat him.”

That night we had had dinner in the cafeteria with the entire colony. I sat by Vladimir’s side and once everyone had been served their food. He stood up grabbing me by the arm, pulling me with him.

“As some of you may have felt through our link a few days ago, I have found the keeper of my Soul. This is Guinevere Valencia, Luna of the Blue Moon Pack.”

There were a few snarls from the vampires.

“And,” Vladimir continued raising his voice, “Queen of all Vampires.”

“How can she be Queen of all vampires if she isn’t even a vampire?” One of the female vampires, Rosa, questioned.

“Guinevere is a Hybrid. Her wolf is a direct descendant of the moon goddess. She is also part succubi, and her succubi is also a direct descendant our Sun God.”

“How do you know this to be true?” Rosa asked.

“Because she drained the power of the warlock Lazarus. And because she has a strong enough aura to command everyone in this room. Guinevere,” Vladimir said turning to me, “please show them my word is true.”

I hesitated for a second not sure what to do.

‘Don’t worry, Guinevere.’ Cierra said coming forward from the back of my mind. ‘I know what to do, just step forward.’

I did as cierra instructed and stepped forward. I felt a sense of power start swelling in me and I began to speak in a voice I was now starting to become familiar with, the voice of my succubi Cierra.

“Vampires of the Del Sol Colony. My name is Cierra, I am the succubi that resides in Guinevere. I can attest to the power she wields.”

All the vampires surrounding me, including Vladimir, showed signs of submitting to Cierra.

“ I wish to present you with this gift,” Cierra continued on, and suddenly images started flashing through my mind and I could tell from the glazed over look of the rest of the pack that they too were seeing these images. “Trust in your Queen and follow her to the ends of the earth.”

Then Cierra stepped back in my mind giving me full control again.

“Queen Guinevere.” The colony shouted in unison.

Later that night, as I lay beside Vladimir I asked him about the images Cierra had shown.

“They were images of the past, images that we’d thought had been lost to our kind with our elders. Images of how we were created. And in those images, was Cierra. She’s been there since the beginning. We all honored to served you.”

“ I hope I live up to everyone’s expectations.” I whispered more to myself than anyone else.

“You will Mi Amor. You will.” Vladimir yawned sleepily.

Over the course of the next two weeks, I trained vigorously with the female warriors. They showed me how to use and harness my powers. They also showed me different fighting skills, that would help me in hand to hand combat when I wouldn’t be able to shift into my wolf.

“Are you nervous about Damien’s arrival?” Vladimir asked, once again interrupting my train of thought and bringing me back to the present.

“Nervous, yes, but also very excited. Two and half weeks is a long time to be away from your mate.”

“Have you forgiven him yet?” Vladimir questioned me.

“While I am still not happy with his decision, I am no longer angry with him and have chosen to forgive him. If he hadn’t left me here, I would’ve never gotten to know you better Vladimir which is why I’ve chosen to forgive Damien.”

Vladimir’s face lit up.

“Good, because your mate, is here now.”

My heart started to race. Two and a half weeks really was too long to be without your mate.
