Chapter 52: Chaos Unleashed
***Guinevere***
My heart was pounding in my chest as I raced towards Jupiter’s hideout. I ran in my wolf form faster than I’ve ever pushed Sierra before. I had to reach Vladimir before it was too late. I had to stop him from the trap he was about to fall into. I couldn’t let my vision come true.
‘Gwynn,’ Damien huffed through the mind link a few paces behind me. ‘Slow down. We have to think about this rationally. We can’t just go running into Jupiter’s den without a plan.’
‘Damien,’ I said my irritation seeping through the mind-link. ‘We don’t have time to strategize. The vision I was given showed me, that if we don’t stop Vladimir in time that he will die, essentially killing off all the vampires in his line. And if the wolves follow Vladimir’s lead, they will die too. I saw Vladimir dying. I heard Alex’s cries of war as he rushed in to try and save him. We need to get there now!’ I growled ferociously as I pushed Sabrina harder.
Sabrina was running so fast we were practically flying through the Forest. I could detect the smell of rotten flesh and I knew we were getting closer to Jupiter’s location. A few more paces and I could smell the faint hint of Alex and Vladimir’s scents, they’d been here less than thirty minutes ago.
Sabrina could also scent them and she slowed down her pace some before, coming to an abrupt stop.
‘They split up.’ Sabrina spoke into the mind link.
‘The wolves went left with Alex leading him. The vampires went right, but Vladimir didn’t follow them. He stayed behind.’
“Damnit!” I cried out in my human voice, having shifted into my human form, so I could track the footprints of the vampires easier. “We’re too late Damien! Vladimir has already gone to face Jupiter.”
Tears started running down my face as I cliched my chest, I could feel Sierra, my succubus spirit already mourning the loss of her soul keeper.
Damien shifted from Leo back into his human form before pulling me into a deep embrace.
“Shhh.” He whispered holding me tightly, kissing the top of my head. “Calm down baby. Vladimir isn’t lost to us yet. Just because he went on a suicide mission, doesn’t mean we will let him succeed.”
“Damien, my vision is coming true. This is how it started. We won’t be able to save him.”
“We can still try Guinevere!” Damien growled at me, pulling my hair roughly forcing me to look up into his deep blue eyes. “When has my mate ever been one to give up.” He growled even louder, a storm of anger brewing in his eyes. “We haven’t been through this much, We haven’t sacrificed this much, for you to give up now! Vladimir deserves more than that. Our pack deserves more than that. They deserve Guinevere Valencia, Their Luna Queen and her Spirit wolf Sabrina. You, my love, are the only one who can defeat Jupiter. And you will do it today! You will take back vengeance for all those he’s scorned. Sabrina will revenge her mother, our moon goddess today!”
I stared into Damien’s eyes, feeling my energy renew, I could feel the power of Sabrina and Sierra taking over, as well as my hatred for Jupiter and all that he stands for. Damien was right, I couldn’t let this vision scare me from my mission. I couldn’t let the possible loss of Vladimir deter me from what I had come to do. I knew in that moment that Jupiter had sent me that vision as yet another trickery, to try and stop me from going after him and once again my
Mate had been able to save me.
“I love you!” I whispered fiercely before pulling my mate into a passionate kiss. I pulled away almost as quickly.
“Let’s go defeat Jupiter!” I growled, shifting my power back over to Sabrina, allowing her to take control, as we ventured into the center of his hideout.
***Vladimir***
Jupiter was upon me before I registered what was going on.
“Hah! You fool.” He laughed, his eyes sparkling with chaos. “You thought you could get the jump on me.”
He kicked my legs out from underneath me, causing me to fall onto the Forest floor, I felt my ankle twist beneath me, and knew before I tried to shift my foot that it had broken from the swiftness and accuracy of his kick.
Jupiter bent down to grab me by my collar, but I was quicker than he anticipated and was able to shift my body weight to the side and roll away from him, causing him to lose his footing a tumble onto the ground.
“What, did you think you could distract me, by sending your measly little armies in opposite directions.” Jupiter laughed maliciously again, his entire behavior wreaking of insanity.
“I can conjure the dead.” Jupiter said, getting up and crouching on his hind legs. I have millions of corpses at my disposal, your army, is nothing. You’ll never defeat me.”
Jupiter pounced towards me, like a wild animal that stalks it’s prey. I could tell him was playing with me before going in for the kill. I was the mouse and he was the cat, I only needed to survive a bit longer. I could smell Sierra’s calming scent and I knew Guinevere would be here soon.
Jupiter lunged at me with his claws out, I shifted towards the left, barely escaping his attack, my injured ankle was almost fully healed.
I used my vampire powers and telepathically shoved Jupiter away from me. He went flying into the thick trunk of the tree behind me.
“Ooo” he said, his eyes shining with glee. “A Vampire King. You must be King Vladimir. I haven’t feasted on a king in a minute.”
He smiled brightly, his face looking even more deranged.
“There’s something no one knows about me. About my upbringing.” Jupiter said with glee in his eyes. “I am not only the god of war, I am also the son of Del Sol, the Son God. I am an original succubus.”
I swallowed hard, finally understanding the gleeful look in Jupiter’s eyes. He was like Sierra. He was planning on sucking me dry and stealing my soul and all of my powers.
I just needed to keep him distracted for a few minutes longer, just long enough to give Guinevere a fighting chance. I tested out my ankle, as Jupiter inched closer to me. It wasn’t healed all the way, but enough for me to sprint on it, Maybe enough to give me a head start.
I took of sprinting in the direction I had scented Guinevere. Jupiter was right behind me. Five seconds away from me, I felt my heart thudding in my chest. Four seconds. I felt a strong force, trying to pull me towards Jupiter. I resisted it. Three seconds. I sprinted as quickly as I could, knowing the closer I got to Guinevere the better her chances would be. Two seconds. Jupiter’s claws had dug into me. One second. He had fully grasped onto me pulling me towards him. His eyes locking with mine. I felt him start to tug on my soul. I tried to resist the pull, but it felt like a peaceful melody calling to me. I could feel myself starting to weaken as I let me soul drift towards Jupiter lullaby. This was the true nature of a siren. No wonder my soul had always yearned to be connected to Guinevere. I felt completely at peace before I gave way to the darkness.
