Chapter 53: Gathering the Wolves
***Damien***
One moment Guinevere was with me, hugging and kissing me, like she never wanted to separate from me again, and then she was gone. Vladimir’s name barely a whisper on her lips as she shifted into her wolf Sabrina and sprinted through the remainder of the Forest.
I quickly shifted into Leo in an attempt to follow her but the brush became think, the trees denser, and it was impossible for me to maneuver through the Forest as quickly as Sabrina could.
‘Must find mate.’ Leo whined as I forced him to slow down before we ran smack dab into a tree.
‘We aren’t going to find her if we end up smashed to pieces. She’s headed towards Jupiter, she is will have protection.’
‘So what were just going to sit here and dilldaly all day, miss the fight and let our mate do all the work,’ Leo scoffed, I could sense him rolling his eyes at me. ‘Some alpha you are.’
‘Leo,’ I growled at my wolf internally, ‘ I don’t need your attitude right now. Getting ourselves killed by the Forest won’t help Gwynn. We need a different plan. There’s no way running after her is going to help her.’
‘Okay, then what do we do?’
‘Let’s find Alex and the other wolves, we can gather the warriors again, and head straight for Jupiter. Having reinforcement against him will be our best bet.’
Leo agreeing with my decision, shifted his nose towards the Forest floor to sent out the other wolves.
Their scent was fresh, meaning they weren’t far away, Leo jolted towards the direction, the scent was the strongest. Within minutes we were in the center of a bloodied battlefield. Bits and pieces of wolves were strewn across the Forest floor, Limbs of decaying human body parts intertwined. My heart ached for my lost comrades. I pushed aside my grief, so I could focus on the ongoing battle.
I spotted Alex’s wolf, Severus. He had a large scar across his muzzle, and he was missing a part of his left ear, but other than that he looked to be in good shape. The remaining warriors were finishing off the last of Jupiter’s dead army within their vicinity.
I reached out via the mind link, Leo growling his appreciation at his fellow wolves courage and strength.
‘We’ve lost many on the battle ground today, but the war still isn’t over. Jupiter is sitting in the middle of the Forest lying in wait. Your Luna, my mate, is racing towards him ready to finally end this war, I ask today, not only as your alpha, but as your friend, for you to charge towards danger and help our Luna destroy this God, who thinks he can eliminate our kind. Today I ask for your help, in ending the monster who terrorized our moon goddess.’
The Forest filled with sounds of the pack warriors growling in unison. I could feel their anger towards Jupiter and all of his wrong doings radiating off their bodies.
Leo turned and started stalking towards the center of the Forest, the pack warriors following suit. Alex’s wolf Severus followed directly behind Leo, taking his spot.
Severus butted his head against Leo’s hind legs and I could feel Alex’s smile through the mind link.
‘You always were one for a grand speeches.’ Alex chuckled through the mind link.
‘What?’ I asked, ‘was it too much?’
Severus turned his head to look back at the warrior wolves, a shudder ran through him, visibly showing through his fur.
‘I wouldn’t want to be Jupiter.’ Alex commented.
Leo tossed his shoulders back and held his head high, every bit the commanding Alpha spirit.
‘Jupiter dies tonight.’ I growled loudly, echoing throughout the entire pack link.
I could hear responding growls of agreement echo throughout the entire pack.
Jupiter fucked with the wrong species.
***Guinevere***
I felt my link with Vladimir snap and I knew something was terribly wrong. My vision wasn’t another one of Jupiter’s mind games, it was a gift of foresight bestowed upon me by someone else, a gift that I so arrogantly chose to ignore.
I felt my heart break until a million pieces, as I raced through the Forest trying to reach Vladimir before it was too late. Hoping by some miracle that I could still save him. I could feel Sierra’s anguish coursing through my body.
‘Sierra,’ I called to my succubus spirit. ‘Don’t give up on Vlad, yet. He still needs us. You can’t lose hope.’
There was no response from Sierra, expect the feeling of grief, of a loss so deep it was soul shattering. As I continued to race onward, I felt like I was losing Sierra, like her spirit was leaving my body. I could sense where she use to be but I couldn’t feel her presence as strongly.
‘Sabrina what’s happening?’
‘Sierra soul is in search of Jupiter’s. It’s part of the soulmate connection. Once two souls meet, they become one. And they cannot be separated again.’
‘What does that mean Sabrina?’ I asked worriedly. I couldn’t lose Sierra she was a much a part of me Sabrina was.
‘I’m not sure.’ Sabrina responded, her speed increases. She had caught on to Vladimir’s scent. He was nearby. I could hear his heartbeat beating loudly in the quietness of the Forest, he was still alive.
Sabrina stopped suddenly. A few feet ahead of us, stood Jupiter, his claws digging into Vladimir’s shoulders. Vladimir’s eyes had a glazed over look, and I could see his soul being pulled from his body. Vladimir’s head turned in my direction, ‘Mi amour,’ he whispered, ‘I knew you would find me.’
I tried to move towards him but my body felt like it was cemented to the ground. I couldn’t budge a muscle.
I felt Vladimir’s voice come across the mind link.
‘Guinevere, I knew you would come. This is chance Mi Amor. Once my soul leaves my body and enters Jupiter, his body will be filled with an immense amount of pain. He’ll feel an uncontrollable hunger, like one he’s never felt before, his insides will feel like they’re on fire. He’ll be blinded with pain. He’ll feel the curse of the vampire king. It’ll give you just enough time to attack him. Once my soul is consumed by Jupiter my spell will break and you’ll be able to move your body again. Take your chance and destroy him for good.’
‘Vlad! No.” I cried tears streaming down my face. ‘There has to be another way.
You can’t sacrifice yourself.’
‘My beautiful Gwynn. There is no other way, this is our destiny.’ Vladimir said.
I could feel the small smile on his face and it felt like he’d wrapped me into his arms again for one final embrace.
‘Thank you Guinevere, for finding me, and making my soul complete. Years of wandering this earth alone, and finally, I feel full and I am at peace.’
Vladimir’s face took on a peaceful smile before his body slipped out of Jupiter’s grasp, his corpse thudding loudly against the Forest floor.
Jupiter let out an anguish filled screamed and I felt Vladimir’s hold on me relinquish. I started to sprint towards Jupiter, but as I moved forward it felt like my body was splitting into three opposite directions. Shaking my head, ignoring the unpleasant feeling of being ripped into multiple directions I charged towards Jupiter ready to defeat him and take my revenge.
