Chapter 32. The vampire king

I was still in shock from the news Damien had delivered. I couldn’t believe I was pregnant. Damien and I had gone upstairs to find some clothes to change into. Damien was close to the same size as Lazarus so he grabbed a pair of jeans and a shirt and threw them on. The shirt was snug and tight across his chest, but it did in a pinch.

“I have to run back downstairs and help Alex and the team, will you be okay up here?” He asks me, while doing up the buttons on his jeans.

“Yes, I’m fine, I just want to wash really quick and put some clothes on.”

“Okay, but hurry up. I don’t want Vladimir and the other vampires finding out were here.” Damien turns and hurries down the stairs to assist Alex and getting things squared away.

I am still puzzled by the fact that I’m pregnant. I didn’t think it would be possible until the mating ceremony was complete.

‘Sabrina did you know?’

‘I had a feeling immediately after I drank the water mixed with wolfsbane. As a direct descendant of the moon goddess the wolfsbane shouldn’t have effected me as much as it did. It was at that moment that I realized my natural healing ability was protecting someone besides myself.’

‘Why didn’t you tell me?’ I could feel my anger rising at my wolf, she’d been keeping so much from me. I felt like I was just a pawn in her game of revenge.

‘It wasn’t the time.’ Sabrina simply stated.

I wanted to continue to argue with Sabrina but I could tell Damien was getting antsy to leave, he wanted to me to see the doctor immediately. He’d already had Alex and his warriors come into the cabin to capture what remained of Lazarus, and clean any trace that we’d been there.

“Gwynn,” Damien called to me, “you can argue with Sabrina when we get back to pack territory. But now we need to leave, preferably before we have to fight our way out.”

Prince Vladimir of the Blood Sol pack and Damien did not get along. They agreed to stay in their own pack territories and away from the neutral territory. As long as no one broke the treaty, they’d remain enemies in name only.

“You’re right Damien, let’s go.” I said walking down to him and grabbing his hand, letting him lead the way out of the cottage and back to pack territory.

As soon as we left the cottage we were surrounded. Damien had told Alex and the other wolves to go on without us. We hadn’t heard a sound or smelt the air change, it must have been a protective layer on the cottage we hadn’t noticed.

“Damien.” One of the vampires snarled. He was taller than the rest and reminded me of a Viking god from the Norse stories. He had piercing blue eyes and long blond hair, with one side shaved and the other pulled back into a low ponytail. I felt my heart skip a beat as I starred at him. This feeling wasn’t fear though. It was something else.

“Vladimir,” Damien snarled curling his lips.

“What are you doing at my warlocks cottage?” Vladimir asked still in a ready to fight stance.

“Your warlock,” scoffed Damien, his eyes turning onyx black, fur sprouting up on his arms, showing he was ready to shift. “ So you’re already admitting to kidnapping my mate.”

Vladimir began to respond, “ I’d do know such…” and the wind picked up and blew fiercely all around.

Vladimir locked eyes with me and I heard a faint quiet voice in the back of my head, one that I had never heard before. “Mate.” The voice whispered barely audible in my mind.

Vladimir looked like he was in pain, his canines protruded and his eyes turned a bloodshot read, “Who are you?” He looked at me questioningly.

Damien stepped closer to me and wrapped his arms around me.

Vladimir snarled at the sight of Damien touching me.

“Who she is, is none of your concern blood sucker.” Damien growled at Vladimir shoving me behind him, “she is my mate, that is all you need to know.”

“That’s impossible,” Vladimir snarled, “Why must you fucking wolves go out of your way to lie.”

I could feel the powerful aura around Vladimir, it seemed to be growing with every second Damien had his arms around me. I felt a yearning to race towards Vladimir and calm him down, but I also knew I couldn’t walk away from Damien either because he needed me too.

‘Sabrina what’s going on? Why am I feeling this way towards Vladimir?’

Sabrina didn’t respond to me, but another voice did, the same voice from earlier.

‘Because Guinevere, you’re also his, as he is yours, you are his Queen. You are the other half of his soul, the vampire god Sol made it so.’ The voice was whimsical and in my heart I knew what she said was true.

‘How is this possible, a wolf only has one mate.’ I asked the voice feeling more confused that ever.

‘Your wolf, Sabrina as she is called, does only have one mate. Her mate is Leo, he was given to here by the moon goddess. Vladimir is not your wolf’s mate, but the mate of your succubus. I am Cierra. I have been dormant inside of you, waiting to be awoken, when Sabrina used your succubi power to kill Lazarus’ warlock side, it awoken me. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to make my presence known earlier Guinevere. This must be confusing.’

I broke away from my thoughts feeling the tension in the air rising. I could see Vladimir‘s guards surrounding where Damien and I stood, if I didn’t act fast, Damien could end up severely hurt. I removed myself from Damien’s gripped and summoned both the power of Sabrina and Cierra walking in between Damien and Vladimir.

“Stop!” I yelled in a bellowing voice. Everyone instantly froze in place. “There will be no fighting here today, the three of us need to have a private conversation. Vladimir call of your guards, Damien rein in Leo.”

Both men starred at me, bewildered looks in their faces. It was Vladimir who broke the silence first.

“How do you have such power of me, a vampire king?”

I stayed silent for a moment wondering how much information I should give Vladimir. I’d just barely met him and from what I had heard about him he was a very cruel unforgiving person, plus he had Lazarus under his payroll, but he was also my mate apparently, and I could already, feel a connection forming between the two of us. I decided to answer truthfully, or as truthfully as I could.

“I am not sure, my wolf seems to think that I am related to an original succubi.”

Vladimir seemed to think over my answer for a moment before calling off his guards, feeling a sense of relief, my powers that I had summoned from my wolf and succubus spirit started to dwindle and I could feel myself growing weak, I started to faint, before my eyes closed all the way I could see Damien and Vladimir both rushing towards me, as a vampire Vladimir is quicker. He reaches me first. I fall into his arms and I can feel myself enveloped with sparks from Vladimir’s bare skin touching mine. I reach up and touch his face. “Mate.” I whisper before everything goes dark.

***Is Vladimir really Guineveres second mate? or is something else going on? Let me know your thoughts in the comments. xoxo***
