BOOK 2-AN UNEXPECTED DUO-CHAPTER 18-Vladimir
“Did Mya just turn into a wolf?” Riss asks, her voice still sounding sleepy as she rubs her eyes.
“Uhhh…” I reply stalling, while I try to think up an explantation. I know Myra wants to tell Riss before we leave and I didn’t want to break the news without her here.
Luckily I am saved by the soft snores coming from the backseat indicating that Riss had fallen asleep again. Why hadn’t Myra told me that Elizabeth had come back, unless she’d made a sudden appearance just barely. That would make the most sense, since Myra had shifted so suddenly. Was she fighting with Elizabeth, or had I upset Elizabeth in some way, that she needed to be away from me as quickly as possible.
I continued to contemplate this the rest of the ride to the pack, barely looking up as Nikolai pulled into Guinevere and Damien’s driveway.
“Is it really that difficult?” Nikolai asks.
“Is what difficult?” I ask not sure what Nikolai is referring to.
“Being around your fated. You have the best control out of all of us with your blood lust, but being around Myra, you looked like a newly changed vampire.” Nikolai replied.
“Oh that. No it won’t be difficult for most. Myra…Myra’s different. Her mating with me, plus some other factors will help break the curse the fae placed upon our kind. Because she is my fated, the faeries have made it err…more difficult for me to mate with her. Once the curse is lifted, I am hoping that bloodlust will go away.” I reply.
“You’re keeping something from me Vladimir.,” Nikolai replied, a look of concern on his face, “When have we ever kept secrets?”
Nikolai was the first and only person I changed. We fought together during the Russian war in 1917. In the year 1920, we were in the middle of battle and one of our enemies fired a weapon towards us. Nikolai pushed me out of the way, taking a bullet for me. I held him on the battlefield and asked him if he had a choice, would he want to die right here and now, or would he want to live eternity as a monster. Nikolai of course chose to live as a monster as long as he was able to continue in the war and free the Russian people from the reign of the Soviet Union. So right there in the middle of the battlefield, I changed him. Our enemies ran away in fear, when they saw who the real monster was that day. Nikolai has been by my side ever since proving over and over again, that I made the right decision in changing him.
“I would tell you the complete truth if I could Nikolai, but this situation between Myra and I must remain a secret, one that I fear I cannot tell anyone, even you dear friend.” I replied, feeling thankful when I saw a look of understanding cross Nikolai’s face.
“Okay.” He replied nodding his head, “Just remember if you need me, I’ll be there.”
“Right now you’re exactly where I need you. I know that my kingdom is safe with you in command.” I respond.
There’s a loud tapping on the window, that startles Riss awake, “Mya.” She calls, rubbing her eyes.
“Unk! Unk!” Sabrina hollers while she continues to tap on the window, Guinevere smiling as she holds Sabrina on top of her swollen belly.
“Make her go away,” Riss growls upset that she’s been woken up.
“Ah, my kind of kid.” Nikolai replies laughter in his eyes.
“Who?” I ask as I slowly get ready to exit the door.
“Definitely Riss. Sleep is essential, being woken up from sleep makes you my sworn enemy.” Nikola chuckles.
I shake my head at his shenanigans, while I’ve enjoyed every moment I’ve spent with Myra, I have missed my little family here on the pack lands.
“Where is Myra?” Guinevere asks, her eyebrows knotted in worry as I exit the door.
“She went for a run. Elizabeth finally came back and she was eager to stretch her legs.” I reply.
“Oh. Okay, and I’m assuming the little girl is Riss?” Guinevere asks outwardly, while mentally she asks me if she’s the fae child.
“Yes,” I respond, not bothering to answer her through mindlink as well.
***Oh and Gwynn… Riss doesn’t know about our kind. She thinks Vampires, Faeries, and Werewolves are from the movies and books.***
***Oh.*** Guinevere responded a shocked look on her face.
“Is everything alright Luna?” One of the nearby pack warriors asked.
“Oh yes just fine. The little one just kicked my bladder.” She replies laughing off her reaction.
“Ah, I see Damien got his way and gave you a few baby sitters.” I reply teasingly.
“Those are actually for Sabrina. She’s err…” Guinevere says looking at Riss before responding, “Gifted.”
I raise an eyebrow up at her, what does gifted entail exactly.
Before Guinevere can enlighten me, were are interrupted by a beautiful midnight black wolf that shoves herself between Guinevere and I, growling at Gwynn, before turning towards me and nuzzling my neck with her snout and head.
Guinevere laughs at Elizabeth’s antics, “seems like someone’s wolf is a bit jealous.”
Elizabeth turns her head and growls loudly at Guinevere.
“Elizabeth!” I snapped, “That is enough!”
Apparently I pissed her off, because instantly she gave control of her body back to Myra, shifting from wolf to human in front of us, causing Riss to let out an ear piercingly loud shriek, “I.. I … I thought it was just a dream.” She stutters out.
Myra shoots daggers my way, clearly pissed at me about something before turning her attention to Riss.
“Riss, darling,” Myra calls standing up, her gorgeous body on display for all to see, I hold back my aura, my vampire pissed at all the males seeing my mate naked. Wolves were used to Nudity, vampires on the other hand are not.
“MYA!” Riss yells scolding her, “YOU’RE NAKED!”
Myra looked at Riss in shock and I’m sure my expression wasn’t much different. Really Riss, you’re more concerned over Myra’s nudity than you are of her being a wolf.
“Here.” Guinevere calls out to Myra, slipping off her shawl and handing it over to Myra to slip on.
“Thanks.” Myra responds sheepishly, not looking Guinevere in the eyes.
“Don’t worry about it.” Gwynn smiles, as friendly as ever.
Myra’s chest rumbles causing her to blush, “Damn Elizabeth,” Myra mutters under her breath as she walks over to Riss.
“Are you okay Baby?” She asks staring down at Riss.
“Uhh…Yes…Uh…No..Uhhh…Mya..What are you?” Riss asked extremely confused.
“How about we come inside and get out of this winter chill.” Guinevere pipes up, “I’ll make some coffee and coco and put Miss Sabrina to sleep, while you three talk.”
“Err, yeah. I’ll leave it to you Vlad.” Nikolai replies as he turns and walks towards the Pack House.
***CHICKEN** I link him.
***Nope, you got yourself into this mess buddy, you can get yourself out** Nikolai responds while laughing out loud.
Myra passes by me causing me to get a whiff of her scent, it smells different. More earthy like her original scent, while I still want to devour her it isn’t as bad as it was before. I wonder if Elizabeth did something to mask her scent.
She turns towards me and hisses, “This is all your fault. You just had to go and piss Elizabeth off. Now she’s not talking to me and Riss thinks I am a monster.”
“My fault?” I ask, raising my eyebrows, “What did I do? It’s not my fault your wolf is unstable.”
“You had to go and provoke her by protecting Guinevere, It’s always been Guinevere right? She would have been your first pick, but because she chose Damien, you were stuck with me.” She whisper yelled, tears sprouting in the corner of her eyes.
I was speechless. I wasn’t sure what to say. Yes at first I thought Guinevere was suppose to be mine, that she was created for me and I had been hurt she chose Damien over me, but as time progressed, I learned the true meaning of a soulmate. A soulmate isn’t always someone you’re in love with. A soul mate can be someone you truly care about, who is your other half. Guinevere’s and my relationship is purely platonic, while I’ll still always call her Mi Armor, because she is my love, just in a non romantic way.
“Myra.” I whisper reaching up to cradle her cheek in my hand.
She jerks away from me and follows Guinevere, Riss, and Sabrina into the house.
I let out a frustrated sigh as I ran my hands through my hair following the girls inside. Somehow, someway I needed to prove my loyalty and my love to Myra. I need to show her exactly how important she is to me. I need her to know that she is my everything. While Guinevere happened to be the keeper of my soul, Myra is the reason my heart beats everyday. She is the reason I have for breathing, She is my other half.
