Book 2-The Unexpected Duo- Chapter 8: Myra

I woke up exhausted. After hearing Vladimir’s tale, I let him crash on the couch because it was so late at night and he hadn’t booked a hotel room. I was restless last night and had a hard time sleeping knowing that Vladimir was so close to me. The mate bond wanted me to go to him and seek comfort in his arms, but the rational side of me won. If I went to Vladimir tonight, what would keep him from slaughtering me at night; his vampire would become so overwhelmed by my scent that Vladimir would lose control and suck me dry.

I quickly ran from my room to the bathroom down the hall, hoping to get ready and leave the upstairs apartment before Vladimir awoke. What I wasn’t expecting was to see the hot sexy vampire king dripping wet fresh out of the shower with only a towel wrapped around his waist, a very small white towel that left almost nothing to the imagination. I let my eyes glaze over him, without his clothes on, his appearance seemed bigger than normal, for a vampire, he sure did make this she wolf feel small. His arms were bulging, like he’d just completed a workout before taking a shower, his chest was perfectly chiseled, I felt my tongue sticking out licking my lips, resisting the urge to trace my tongue around his nipple, and continue to lick down his chest towards his perfectly outlined six pack, and still I would continue lower until my tongue reached the v shape of his hips. I’d appreciate his hips for a little, licking just above the towel, before I continued licking downward….

“Hey earth to Myra.” Vladimir called waving his hand in front of my face.

I jumped back instantly feeling startled by his voice. Shit how long had I been daydreaming about him, did he catch me eye fucking him.

“You like what you see?” Vladimir asked with a smug grin on his face. “I can show you more,” He said grabbing the edge of his towel.

I felt my core tighten at the thought of seeing him fully nude, but I contained my composure. “Come on Myra, you aren’t an innocent eighteen year old shifter anymore. You’re twenty damn years old, and you’ve learned to take care of yourself. You don’t need a mate, and you definitely do not need to fuck this man.”

Usually my pep talks helped me keep myself from doing something stupid. Today, I didn’t want to listen to logical Myra, today, I wanted to be the young carefree girl who could hook up with a man one night and be fine the next. But who was I kidding, this wasn’t any man, this was Vladimir, King of the Fucking Vampires, and also my fated mate, who at any point could drain me of all eight pints of blood in my body. I shook my head, pulling myself out of my stupor.

“Most definitely not,” I responded. “I was just wondering when you’d get the hell out of my way, so I can get ready for work, before I’m late.”

“My apologies Дорогая,” Vladimir responded, walking towards me, in an attempt to leave the bathroom, His bare chest brushed up against my barely covered chest, my nipples getting hard at the contact of his body so close to me.

“And don’t call me dearest.” I snarled at Vladimir, his eyes raising in shock.

“You know Russian?” Vladimir asked, stopping in the doorway of the bathroom.

“Yeah.” I replied not knowing where this conversation was going.

“How?” Vladimir asked, leaning against the door frame with one arm up supporting him, making him look completely relaxed and at ease.

“I’m not sure.” I shuffled my feet, I hated talking about myself, it didn’t matter who I was talking to, “ Since I began to talk, I could speak perfectly clear Russian and English. “

“See,” Vladimir said stepping towards me, reaching out and grabbing my chin in his hand, his eyes flashing red at our close vicinity. I heard a purr coming from him and I knew at this moment, his vampire was satisfied by our closeness, who knew when he’d pounce though.

“See what?” I asked, surprised by the huskiness in my voice, Vladimir had only touched my chin, and I sounded like I was seconds away from melting into a puddle.

“You were made for me.” Vladimir said matter-of-factly before leaning his head down and pressing a gentle kiss on my lips. The kiss was so tender and sweet, it almost made me forget that Vladimir, at least his species was my mortal enemy.

Vladimir pulled away almost as quickly as he leaned in. “Have a good shower sweetheart.” He purred, before casually walking away.

Why that arrogant bastard, I thought to myself as I jumped into the shower, turning the temperature up high, feeling grateful that Vladimir hadn’t used up all the hot water. I didn’t realize how much my early morning interaction with him had turned me on until I reached between my legs to clean myself and felt how wet I had become, I was swollen and aching, I wanted to be touched, I needed to be touched, it had been so long since I had been with anyone intimately. I slowly began to rub my finger up and down my slit, teasing myself to prolong my orgasm, before I brought my finger up to my clit, rubbing circles around it soft and slow, quickly quickening up the pace and letting myself feel the release of an orgasm. I didn’t tend to masturbate often, but the need was strong this morning, if i hadn’t relieved the ache between my legs, I would be seducing Vladimir into my bed. I quickly finished washing myself and threw on some clothes for work. I was grateful that Betsy didn’t require a uniform for the bakery. I could wear my everyday clothes, which meant I didn’t have to run upstairs and change before I met up with Riss, today I opted into a plain red crop top, a pair of black skinny jeans, and my favorite red converse.

I walked out of the bathroom and was hit with the smell of fresh coffee. I slowly walked towards my kitchen hesitant on what I would see.

“Uh, I made coffee,” Vladimir said awkwardly handing me a cup while he did a once over, taking in my appearance a smile appearing on his face.

I took a big gulp, before I sighed with pleasure, coffee was a nectar provided by the gods, I couldn’t live without it,

“Thank you. You’re a life savior.” I said smiling at Vladimir. “What are you smirking at?” I asked him, as I turned towards the dinning room table to grab my bag before heading out,

“You.” Vladimir replied not bother to go into detail.

I just shook my head at him since I didn’t have time to pry as I was already running behind this morning, that orgasm had cost me time, but it was definitely worth it, even though I still felt a slight ache from the need to be filled, but it wasn’t as bad as it had been. It would keep me from jumping Vladimir, at least for now.

“Here let me walk you out.” Vladimir responded, quickly opening the door for me, as I grabbed my bag and key.

“Here’s the spare key,” , I said taking the one that I had hidden under the doormat once we were outside my apartment. “If you go anywhere today, please don’t forget to lock up.”

“So now I have a key to your place,” Vladimir said teasingly as I walked down the steps two at a time.

“Well since we are working together, I figured I might as well let you crash on the couch.” I replied nonchalantly, although if I was being truthful it was because I wanted Vladimir around was because having his scent near me comforted me and I could feel Elizabeth stirring whenever he was present, even though she had still made her presence unknown, proving that she was still holding a grudge about me leaving the pack and my mate behind. Just as I reached the entrance to the bakery, Vladimir grab my hand and spun me around placing a gentle kiss on my lips, before stepping away, his eyes flashing red, a sign his vampire was awaking,

“A kiss for the road.” Vladimir replied to my shocked expression. “What time do you get off today?”

“Ugh, 3pm, but I’m heading to the school immediately afterwards.”

“I’ll accompany you. I want to meet this Riss of yours.”

Vladimir was gone before I could ask him how he knew Riss’ name.

When I walked into the bakery, Betsy waggled her brows at me. “Who was that handsome gentleman caller?” She asked teasing me.

“Just an old friend, he came from my hometown for a brief visit.” I replied not wanting to go into further detail.

“Ah so do people kiss as a goodbye in your hometown?” Betsy asked teasing me further.

I felt my cheeks grow hot, as I blushed, so Betsy had spotted that. “Umm, Yes.” I replied hurrying back to the kitchen to get started on today’s catering order. Luckily the bakery was incredibly busy today, so Betsy didn’t have time to inquire about Vladimir further, that was until he walked into the bakery at 2:59 pm sharp to escort me to Riss’ school.

“Just an old family friend eh?” Betsy said elbowing me in the ribs jokingly, causing me to blush once again. Nothing got past Betsy. For an old lady she was sure a fierce little firecracker. “Well I‘ll let you get going so you aren’t late meeting with Riss. I packed some blondies for you to take to her today, unfortunately we ran out of the brownies at noon.”

“I’m sure she’ll enjoy them just as much.” I responded with a smile on my face. Betsy really was too good to us.

I quickly hung up my apron and grabbed the small bag of blondies before heading over to Vladimir. “You’re causing a scene,” I hissed at him under my breath, as he grabbed my hand, I quickened my pace, quickly dragging him out of the bakery hoping that Betsy hadn’t noticed.

“A scene?” Vladimir asked, his eyebrow raised.

“Yes, my employer, Betsy, seems to think there’s something going on between us.” I spoke rapidly as I pulled him down the street to Riss school.

“What’s to assume?” Vladimir asked nonchalantly, “Isn’t there something between us, we are fated mates after all.”

“This is just a business transaction, that’s it.” I responded not missing a beat, even though the more time I spent with him, the stronger the bond and the temptation grew.

“Then why are you still holding my hand?” He asked and I could hear the smirk in his voice.

I quickly pulled my hand away from him, feeling a slight disappointment at the fact he let go so easily before stomping ahead of him, causing him to chuckle behind me making my heart skip a beat, his laughter immediately became my favorite melody, that I wanted to put on replay and play continuously. With my quick pace, trying to stay ahead of Vladimir, we reached Riss’ school in record amount of time.

“Listen,” I said turning to Vladimir, “ Riss is a foster child, she may be a little sketched out by your presence, don’t take offense if she asks to walk away for some privacy.”

Vladimir nodded his head in acknowledgement, seeming to understand my warning.

“Hey Mya.” Riss said smiling joyfully as she walked up to me, “whose that?” She asked pointing towards Vladimir, “Is he your boyfriend?”

Before I could answer, Vladimir smiled down at her, “Why yes I am, and you must be the enchanting Riss, that Myra has told me so much about.”

Riss smiled widely, turning to me whispering not so quietly, “He’s cute, I like him.”

Vladimir chuckled again. “I’m glad I got your approval Ms. Riss.”

“Just Riss,” She responded walking to our little table outside the playground. “I’m not a teacher.”

“Okay, Just Riss.” Vladimir responded sitting across from her. I chose the seat beside her.

Riss began to unpack her backpack, as she looked at me excitedly. “Guess what Mya. I got my chart from the agency. I get to do my family tree.”

“That’s awesome Riss.” I said smiling at her, as I swapped her the folder for the bag of blondies. Riss didn’t hesitate to hand me over her file.

I quickly glanced over the names, inhaling sharply as I came across the name of her Mother, Matilda Faerie- Deceased. Riss last name was different that her mother’s as she’d taken her father’s last name so this was the first time I associated the name Faerie with her. Could Riss really be a relative on mine? Is that why I felt the familia connection with her, had her family been slaughter like mine, due to the smell of their blood.

Vladimir looked over at me, sensing my distress, I didn’t say anything out loud, not wanting to distress Riss. I passed the folder over to him, watching his face as he read over the file. His eyebrows shut up as he looked at me, in a did you know type expression. I shook my head at him. This made the situation between us more dire, I needed to find out more about my past not only for myself but to also protect Riss from any harm, as it stood now, she was at risk of being attacked, and it could happen at any moment.
