Chapter 57: The End
“Vladimir.” I gasped turning around. “You’re alive. How is this even possible?”
Vladimir’s eyes saddened as he looked downward.
“It was Sierra.” He finally said after a moment of silence. “She sacrificed herself for me. As soulmates, our souls are one and the same, before we were born, they were separated, half put into Sierra, and half into me. Sierra gave me the other half of our soul. She said I needed to live, that the Vampires, and you needed me, more than she needed to be your spirit.”
I took a step towards Vladimir and wrapped him in my arms. Damien couldnt help himself and let out a small growl, but I ignored it, chuckling to myself.
“ I am glad you’re still here Vlad. Sierra was right, the pack, the vampires, and I still need you.”
I gave Vladimir one more tight squeeze and then stepped away. It was weird, with Sierra gone, our bond was no longer existent, and I know longer felt that connection I had originally felt towards Vladimir, but I still was happy to know he was alive, he had been a great friend in my time of need when Damien and I were apart, and I’ve come to lean on him for support.
Vladimir cleared his throat, trying to hide the tears that were creeping up into his eyes.
“ I need to go check on the vampires and evaluate the damage.” He said before whisking away.
Damien stepped up next to me and wrapped his hand around my waist. I leaned my head onto his shoulder and looked up smiling at him.
“After everything that’s happened today, you still get jealous?”
He let out a small growl before kissing the top of my head.
“Yes Guinevere, you’re mine, and you’ll always be mine.”
I tilted him up and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
“I love you Damien Valencia.”
“And I you, Guinevere Valencia.”
I heard a slight whine and I turned my head away from Damien towards my wolf Sabrina.
“Sabrina.” I cried, tears flowing freely down my face. “It’s so weird seeing you outside my body. I know we’ve only just began to know each other, but it feels like we’ve been together my whole life.”
‘Guinevere,’ Sabrina mind link me. ‘I may not be a part of you anymore, but I’ll be watching you, and whenever you need me, I’ll be here.’
‘What do you mean watching me?’ I asked confused.
‘Now that my mother’s spirit is inside you, I need to take her place up on the moon, so I can watch out for all of her descendants. When your ready to take your place, then we will be connected again.’
I felt the tears running down my face before I realized that I had started crying. I ran to Sabrina wrapping my arms around her neck and burying my face into her Snow White coat.
‘I’m going to miss you.’
‘And I you.’ Sabrina replied nuzzling my face.
I clung to her a little tighter before her wolf disappeared in my arms, leaving this realm and heading to the moon to watch over Luna’s and Wolfe’s descendants.
Damien began to walk towards me but froze. His eyes opened up wide, a shocked look on his face.
“Guinevere.” He whispered. His shock still evident.
“What’s wrong Damien?” I asked standing up and turning to face him, wiping the remaining tears off of my face.
Damien didn’t get a chance to respond because right at that moment, I felt a weird sensation in my stomach, almost like an intense feeling of butterflies. I looked down and was surprised to see my normally flat stomach no looked to be about twenty weeks pregnant.
‘Surprise.’ Came the whimsical voice of the moon goddess. ‘You gave my daughter a home inside your body, and helped destroy Jupiter. So this is my gift to you. When you were kidnapped, I took your daughter from your body, and I protected her from harm. Now that the evil has been destroyed, and we no longer have to worry about Jupiter, I am returning her back to you.’
‘Her!’ I exclaimed, bringing my hand to my stomach, feeling my daughter press up against it.
‘Yes,’ the moon goddess laughed. ‘You’re going to have a daughter.’
‘Thank you so much Luna.’ I cried, bursting with tears of joy this time.
‘You’re most welcome my child. I figured after all the heartache and loss that you’ve suffered recently, you needed something joyous in your life.’
I looked at Damien, happy tears glistening in my eyes.
“Well what are you waiting for Alpha, don’t you want to come feel your daughter kick?”
***2 YEARS LATER***
I watched as Damien ran around in the forest in front of our home with our now one and half year old daughter Sabrina, as I enjoyed a cup of warm chai tea with Vladimir.
“Are you sure you have to leave Vlad?” I asked looking over at my old friend.
“Yes, my mate, she’s out there still. I can feel her. I was hoping after the war settled down, she would return back to the pack but she hasn’t, and I need to find her.” Vladimir replied, his choice set in stone.
“But what if she doesn’t want to be found?” i asked Vlad, curious of his response.
“When I find her, if she doesn’t want to come back with me, then I’ll walk away. But I have to try, for the sake of the Vampires. I need to try and break this curse Gwynn. I want, and the other vampires want what you have,” Vladimir said motioning towards Sabrina and Damien.
I nodded my head in understanding, ever since the war had ended and Sierra had given her life for Vladimir, he had seemed disheartened. When he explained to me that he had met his mate, shortly after the bombing, I understood what was going on. The mate bond works in mysterious ways. It was pulling Vladimir to his mate, he just didn’t feel the pull as strongly, due to his kingly status.
“Do what you must Vlad, just make sure to come home in the end. Sabrina will miss her Unk Unk while your gone.” I said smiling reminding him of his nickname Sabrina had given him.
“God, I hate that name,” Vladimir said trying to hide the smile on his face. He absolutely doted on Sabrina.
“We will miss you.” I said, standing up and giving him a hug, my big belly, making it impossible to wrap my arms entirely around Vladimir.
He returned the hug, and rubbed my belly. “Make sure to call me when my nephew’s born. I want to know everything about him.”
“Will do.” I said smiling, placing my hand on the child growing inside my womb.
Vladimir smiled back at me, before turning to leave, wandering back to the pack house, to finalize his goodbyes. He’d left me in charge of the Vampires with his second in command assisting me, even though I had relinquished my title as their Queen, It didn’t feel right after losing Sierra, my connection with the Vampires had been severed when she left.
I left my cup of tea on the deck as I waddled down the steps towards my mate and our daughter.
‘This is the future I imagined.’ Luna said. ‘Pure blissful happiness. No worries of darkness.’
‘Yes.’ I responded smiling brightly at my family, the future is bright.’
