Chapter 48: Sierra’s Revenge
I could smell him before we reached him. He reeked on the dead. “Damn.” I growled out under my breath.
“What’s wrong?” Sierra asked her voice somewhere between the back of my mind, and my forefront.
“Jupiter has resurrected the dead. This army is going to be hard to squash than anticipated.”
I felt Guinevere’s body smiling as Sierra chuckled to herself.
“Good, I love a good challenge.”
“Sierra, the entire goal of this battle is to minimize the casualties. You know Gwynn won’t come back if she feels anymore deaths. You know it’ll completely break her.”
I felt Sierra’s emotions before she spoke them.
“Well then,Let’s not let anymore of our pack members die.” She said cockily.
I went to respond back, but instead I stayed frozen in time as the smell of rotten flesh became stronger. Standing less than 100 yards in front of us was Jupiter’s right hand man. And he looked like he’d already began slaughtering the innocents.
“He’s mine,” Sierra snarled, taking the forefront of Guinevere’s mind pushing me back.
Feeling her emotions briefly, I understood that this was more than a normal battle for Sierra. This was a battle of revenge from a previous life. A life before our spirits had been give to Guinevere.
“Griffin.” Sierra growled, calling forward her succubus spirit.
The gross smelling man turned towards Sierra and smiled. “Why isn’t it lovely to see you, my star.”
“I am not your star anymore.” Sierra said seething causing Guinevere’s vision turning a blood red making it difficult to see anything.
“Ahh.” Griffin said with a lazy smile on his face, as if this was a causal conversation and not the start of a battle. “That is where you’re wrong, we are mates. You’ll always belong to me.”
I curled up my nose in disgust, Sierra had mated with this.. this beast.
I felt a darkness overcome me as Sierra called forth her power.
“Yes, we were once mates, but that was before you killed my family.” She screeched at him as she shot him with her first wave of power.
Griffin tried to dive out of the way but he was too slow. Sierra’s strike hit the mark, injuring his leg, causing him to limp towards a tree he now leaned on for support as his black blood started to pool on the forest ground.
“Ahh you Bitch!” Screamed Griffin, “you’ll pay for that.” Griffin’s eye gleaned orange as he whispered a curse under his breath. The tree he was leaning on uprooted as it came to life, swinging Griffin towards Guinevere as he pulled his knife out, launching for her neck. Sierra lurched backwards as she brought her fist up in an uppercut slamming it into his chin, causing him to fly off the tree and lay flat on his back.
Guinevere’s body was shaking with Sierra’s anger, causing her eyes to glow bright with power and her skin to look like it was on fire.
“Mates don’t slaughter their lovers family!” Sierra screeched. Lunging for Griffin and slamming her hand into his chest.
“Ahhh” Griffin cried.
“You came into my home under the pretense that you were a friend, and you slaughtered my innocent baby sister.” Sierra snarled as she punctured Griffin’s chest with her hands.
“You sliced my brother’s neck while he sat there eating super.” Sierra said clenching her hand against Griffin’s chest cavity, where his heart should have been, adding more pressure with each word.
Griffin started bucking, trying to throw Guinevere off of him.
“Sierra, don’t.” Griffin cried. “I was following orders, I never meant to hurt you.” Tears started to fall down Griffins face as he begged for his life.
“A true mate would’ve rather died, than betray his other half like you did.” Sierra screamed, using all her strength to destroy the magic that Jupiter had used to mimic Griffin’s heart.
I continued to stare through Guinevere’s body, bewildered by the amount of pain and power that Sierra had seemed to bury deep within her. I felt Guinevere’s energy levels soar as Sierra started to suck the remnants of Jupiter’s power in.
For a second I thought a felt a flicker of Guinevere’s presence, but then it was gone again as Sierra finished devouring the left over magic.
“Mother, brother, baby sister. Your death has been avenged again. Please forgive me.” Sierra said quietly before retreating back allowing me to have full control of Guinevere’s body again.
“Are you okay?” I asked Sierra, knowing how hard it must have been to relive those memories.
“I am fine. My families spirits may once again Rest In Peace.” Sierra said, before drifting off, leaving me alone in Guinevere’s mind.
In a far off distance I heard the strangled cry of a mother wolf, and took off running in that direction, knowing that whoever it was would need my help, and also knowing that the war with Jupiter had begun.
***Readers, I want to apologize for the short chapters and also the lack of updates. As we near the end of our story I find its getting hard to know which direction I want to steer the story. Ive also discovered battle scenes are not my forte. Thank you for sticking it through. I truly appreciate each and every one of you.... Also for those of you who were reading the Escort, I will republish and continue the story after I finish this novel. The unexpected Luna is my top priority in what little free time I have lately. Thank you all once more for being truly amazing.
