Chapter 50: Clear as Day
Chapter 50
***DAMIEN***
“There is one thing we could try, but it’s risky.” Sabrina said after a moment. “It could either save Guinevere’s spirit, or it could kill her.”
My heart skipped a beat. I couldn’t bare the thought of losing my mate, but I knew if I didn’t try something she’d be lost to me forever. Her body would just be a shell.
“What is it?” I asked Sabrina my eyes pleading with her.
I knew Sabrina could feel my desperation through the mate bond.
“You’d have to remark her.” Sabrina said.
I frowned, feeling confused.
“But her state is already weakened. Remarking her now, it wouldn’t be wise.”
“I know.” Sabrina said letting out a sigh. “That’s why I said it would be risky. But remarking her, would awaken all of her mating senses again, it could give her the strength she needs to keep fighting. It’ll remind her of what she’s fighting for.”
I stood up pacing back and forth, thinking over what Sabrina had just said.
“Can you think of no other way?” I asked.
“This is the only way.” Sabrina said with a look of determination of her face. “This is why you needed to be mated before the war. Your bond makes Guinevere stronger.”
I let out a heavy sigh before pulling Guinevere back into my arms, bring my face down and nuzzling her neck.
Sabrina remained quiet as I let my canines sink into Guinevere’s mark.
This was it. I’d either killed my mate, or I’d given her the strength she needed to overcome the darkness.
***GUINEVERE***
Just when I thought all hope was lost, and that the darkness had completely consumed me, I felt a burning sensation in my neck. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling, I felt my skin crawling in my pain, but it was enough to pull me out of the melancholy that had taken a hold of me.
I felt my hand partially shift into a claw as I used it to cut the black tarry substance that had buried me. I started to pull myself out of it.
I couldn’t give up. I had so much to fight for. The world was counting on me. Only I could defeat Jupiter and his army.
I felt the darkness try to consume me again, but that burning sensation in my throat reminded me, that I wasn’t alone. I wasn’t fighting by myself. I had my mates strength as well.
I continued to slash my way through.
“You will not defeat me!” I screamed at the nothingness.
“I have battled the darkness my entire life, I am not ready to give up my fight.” I yelled even louder.
With my renewed strength, my hands started to glow with a blinding white light.
I could feel and see the darkness shrinking away.
“I am not alone!” I yelled again at it, the light glowing brighter with each word.
“I have my mate, I have my family, my friends. I have my wolf and my succubus spirits.”
The darkness continued to fade away.
“I am worthy of them.” I screamed. “ I am Guinevere Fucking Valencia, and I am a bad ass. I am not weak, I am not nothing. I am the Luna Queen and you will not control me Jupiter.”
I felt my body lift up past the darkness. Bright white light completely engulfing. I felt myself surrounded with love, peace, happiness and kindness, before I passed out from the overwhelming amount of emotions.
I slowly began to regain consciousness as my eyes fluttered open. I felt the familiar arms of my mate around me, I felt safe and secure, I felt like I was home.
“Damien.” I whispered my voice coming out raspy like I hadn’t spoken in months.
Damien pulled back from me, traces of residual tears lingered on his face.
“Guinevere?” Damien asked questioningly.
“It’s me, my love. It’s me. You saved me.”
Damien’s lips came crashing down on mine as he kissed me passionately before pulling away.
“I thought I had lost you.” He murmured quietly, while stroking his finger across my cheek.
“You saved me, without you, I’d be lost.” I said looking into his eyes adoringly.
“And Damien.” I said my face turning serious, “ I know where Jupiter is. We have to leave now.”
Damien dropped his arms from around me, as he let me stand up.
My legs felt a little weak, but I knew I had to hurry quickly. We needed to end this war before we lost more people.
“How do you know?” Damien asked questioningly, “Are you sure it isn’t one of his tricks?” He said a look of concern on his face.
“When you marked me, my body became consumed with a white light, and I could see my enemy clearly. That is how I know where Jupiter is. It’s not one of his tricks Damien. I don’t even think he realizes what happened yet. We need to hurry, so we can have the element of surprise.”
Damien hesitated for a second, before nodding. “Okay, let’s go. We can gather the troops and Vladimir on the way.”
“No.” I shook my head. “we don’t have time to gather anymore resources. Vladimir and the troops are already there. They’re getting ready to fall into a trap. We need to save them.” I said, starting to walk in the direction I knew was Jupiter’s lair.
“Gwynn, wait.” Damien said grabbing my hand.
I let out a growl showing my canines.
“Damien, we need to leave now. I can’t bare it if anyone else dies.”
Damien swallowed down the hurt from me growling at his, before voicing his concern.
“ Guinevere, I almost lost you once today. I can’t lose you again.”
“Damien,” I said, pulling my hand from his. “This is my destiny.”
I quickly shifted letting Sabrina take over.
“You can either come with me, or you can stay behind,” I mind linked Damien, “but
My decision has been made already.”
And then I took off running towards the danger.
