Chapter 40
Sandra's POV
After the meal he took me outside the house. He said he will be giving me a tour around the pack and I was glad with that. I was even more curious to see around. This place was already huge and I feared I couldn't finish the tour in a day. Just as we walked outside Lysithea decided to show up again with a smile. I sighed inwardly. I don't know why can't she just stay a little further from us? Always middling in between us like a third wheeler.
"Hi, are you two going somewhere?" she flashed her smile.
"I am touring her around. She needed to have a good view of the pack to get herself comfortable" Andriel replied.
Lysithea nodded, "of course. Sandra is going to live here so she needs to get familiar with the pack. Oh I almost forgot, I am here to introduce someone"
I frowned at her.
"Meet, she is Kayleigh, my sister" another woman around my age showed up beside Lysithea. Both of them looked similar at some point. I had a feeling that Lysithea is older than me and now looking at her sister I can confirm this fact.
"Hello, I am Sandra" I greeted politely.
Kayleigh smiled "hi, I heard you are the Alpha's mate?"
I nodded awkwardly. She is so direct but I don't know why she suddenly brought this topic up as soon as she saw me. Is she planning something?
"Great" her eyes glowed "as soon as Lysithea told me about you, I was so curious to meet. I must say you are beautiful"
"Thanks" I smiled at her. Such a fluttering, I guess she will point her target next.
Kayleigh for sure pointed out her intention the next second "since you are going to be a Luna, how about we have a match of strength? I mean everyone in the pack would also want to see how strong their future Luna is, isn't it?"
I was surprised by her proposal. Fight? I am clear that they know I am human. But she is proposing to me about fighting? I clenched my fist at the side. This is a deliberate act.
Lysithea frowned at Kayleigh "what are you trying to say? She is a human"
"What's all this Lysithea?" I could feel Andriel's clenched jaw.
"I know that" Kayleigh pursed her lips "but she will be the next Luna, and how could a weak woman rule the pack next to Alpha? Alpha won't you agree? I mean the pack will have some expectations from their future Luna"
"Now you are going to teach me about the rules of the pack?" His voice turned colder. He looked at Lysithea, "I didn't know your sister has become an advisor now? Since when did she develop such skills?"
Lysithea blushed. She angrily glared at her sister "I brought you here to meet Sandra, yet you started your ridiculous game? Kayleigh what is the meaning of this? Do you want me to get embarrassed like this?"
"I didn't mean that" Kayleigh retorted pretending to be innocent, "Alpha please forgive me for my rudeness. But it's not only me who is talking about it. I have heard rumors around. I was curious so I asked for it. I thought even if the next Luna is human there must be some skills in her. I just wanted the others to see the truth and stop their accusations" she said it smoothly, not letting others to refute.
"Shut up" Lysithea hissed grabbing her arm "shut your mouth now"
"You don't have to worry about my pack," Andriel replied, "I know how to handle my pack and its troubles. I guess you are too free to check on other's territory" His words are harsh and rough which made Kayleigh blush in embarrassment.
"I am sorry Sandra, Andriel. Please forgive her" Lysithea smiled at us.
"You all seemed to be covering her. Is she that weak, she couldn't even say yes out of fear?" Kayleigh mocked scanning my face. There was a kind of challenge in her look.
"I don't need you-" Andriel was about to say but I held his arm stopping him.
I can understand what she is trying to do. But what Kayleigh said was not wrong at all. Andriel is a strong Alpha and his pack might want him to have a strong mate too. I may be a human but I am not weak. I know wolves are stronger than us humans in strength but I know I can't give up because it's not only about my respect but also Andriel's too.
"Okay" I replied.
Now it's Kayleigh's time to be shocked. But it's not only her but Lysithea and Andriel were also shocked as their gaze fell on me.
"What nonsense are you sprouting?" Andriel frowned at me. He looked at me like I was gone mad, like I had lost all my senses.
I shook my head "I know what I am doing" I replied hoping for him to understand me.
"Sandra, are you sure?" Lysithea asked "you know Kayleigh is a werewolf too right?"
I looked at her "of course, I am well aware about it"
"But you still want to fight with her?" She shook her head "it's an idiotic act Sandra. Don't get too excited about it. Kayleigh is the lead fighter of my pack. Till today even those males couldn't beat her in the fight. How could you just say yes without thinking?"
"Oh come on Lysithea" Kayleigh smiled "why are you so persisting? She wanted to fight so she said yes. It's the end of the conversation. Why are you trying to stop this, it's not like she could stay like weak forever" she gave me a look, it was a challenging smile "besides it's not like everyone here knows what's best for them"
"That's enough" Andriel roared and Kayleigh flinched as her smile dropped instantly. He turned to me and grabbed my arm before pulling me to another side away from them.
"Do you know what you are doing?" He hissed.
I nodded "of course. I said it to Lysithea right?"
"No you are not" he shook his head "you are not understanding here Sandra. The challenge Kayleigh placed is not a normal fight or any kind of game. Werewolves don't play games for a fight, when we fight, it's real and only ends with the death of the opponent. You must know this fact"
"I know what you mean. And I also can see what Kayleigh is trying to do. She is tricking me" I don't know why but seeing her challenging me I felt something inside me burning.
"Why are you agreeing with her ridiculous plan then? You can just ignore her like she doesn't exist. Are you trying to jump in the pit of fire knowingly?" He glared at me. His clutch around my arm tightened.
"Because I am your mate"
"What?" He frowned.
"Kayleigh challenges the future Luna of the pack, not Sandra the ordinary human. With this challenge she wanted to prove to everyone that I am not good enough for you. That I don't deserve you or the position of Luna. She wanted to place me in the weakest point for every pack member to ridicule me for being human and too weak for the clan. If it were only for me, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. But she dragged you along, and I can't tolerate it. Even if I lose, everyone will understand that because I am human and she is a wolf. Everyone knows there are huge differences between us in the battle. But I don't want to give up without a single try" I hold his arm "Andriel you need to understand my feelings too. It's not about me but us"
He sighed "can you keep up with her strength?"
"I can just try," I replied.
"Fine" he gritted his teeth and I smiled widely. At least he agreed with it. We went back to them.
"So you are going back to your words?" Kayleigh smirked.
"You shouldn't conclude without knowing the fact first," I replied, making her expression change into anger.
"Since both of you want a fight then be it. But this is not a competition but a training exercise" Andriel said glaring hard at Kayleigh "I hope you understood what I mean Kayleigh" he pressured his words at her.
"Yes" Kayleigh purses her lips before nodding. It was clear that she was reluctant to follow the rules of the fight.
"Sandra take care and Kayleigh don't be too hard on her '' Lysithea advised.
"What's happening?" Alessia walked towards us.
"Sandra and Kayleigh are having training exercises, " Lysithea replied.
"What?" Alessia's eyes widened "Sandra are you sure?"
I nodded with a smile.
"Oh god, are you really going to fight her?" Alessia shook her head again.
"Let's leave towards the trailing area" Andriel said and we all headed towards the training ground. I must say the training area is huge and the ground was sandy. There are other people in the area who looked at me with a frown. I know they don't know me and since my visit was not announced officially to the pack. But I guess after today everything will be changed. I don't know what will happen in this fight but I couldn't help myself from backing away. I am also looking forward to the outcome.
Andriel, Lysithea and Alessia stood at the other side and the other people also moved to the side leaving only me and Kayleigh in the fighting ground. He looked at me with a serious expression.
"Let's start," he announced.
