Chapter 57

Andriel's POV

"The clan leaders must have got the news of my arrival. They have been trying to trace me back since Red Ice was destroyed. I had done everything to conceal my scent and traces whenever I met my mate. Though Kristen was always been too careful but now it couldn't be hidden anymore"

Alpha Winston said with a serious look. We are having a meeting about the war which we all know will be taking place at any time. Those clan leaders are alert, and I know they will be taking action first.

"It must be hard for you to stay in the shadows when our nature is just to fight back and draw blood from the enemies. But a ruler knows when to stop and when to fight. I really appreciate your way of handling things, Winston" dad said.

"I had to or I wouldn't have any choice but to face them in the fight, which was not a good choice" Alpha Winston sighed "I have been trying to protect my daughter all these years staying hidden. I had seen her getting hurt witnessing others family but I have to stay put"

I looked at his face. He is a great father, he even sacrificed his Alpha reputation to save his daughter. Sandra is lucky to have him as her dad. But now she is my mate, and her safety is my responsibility. I would do anything to keep her safe.

"Alpha, let me take responsibility for your daughter. She is my mate and I will protect her with my life. I would never let any harm come near her. You have been handling her for years, protecting her from afar. But it's my time to look after her. Please don't worry about her anymore. As long as I live, I won't let anything happen to her. That's my promise" I said to him.

"I am proud of you Andriel. You really did protect her well. If she was not here then the clan leaders might have caught her. You even brought Kristen here assuring her safety too. Thank you for that. I know my daughter is in safe hands that's why I am assured" Alpha Winston said, making me nod.

"I will do it every time it's needed. Once this war ends, I will make sure Red Ice will regain its glory once again"

"I appreciate your kindness" Alpha Winston looked sincere. He looked at dad "I must say Julius, you raised your son just like you. So understanding and capable. He has proven the worth of the Alpha title"

Dad chuckled "this brat just grew up beyond my expectation, I have no hands in this"

I rolled my eyes at his remark while Alpha Winston laughed.

"Thinking about the war. The leaders are residing in the south now. I got this information before coming here. They have two places spread around to train their members. They will pre-plan everything before attacking. I believe they will be doing it faster" Alpha Winston said again.

"I also have the same thought. Since they know about you coming here, they have already taken us as their enemy too. They won't be giving us any retreat route" dad said.

"It doesn't matter, '' I said, tapping the table. "What matters is how to fight them and build our strategy against them. Barbaric leaders like them could only go with wild thought. That's where they are good at. I have already told Fenriz to prepare our fighters. They are all ready to set target"

"You already arranged it?" Dad asked.

I nodded "I don't think we will get time later since the war is uncertain. We need to make all the arrangements earlier to make good use of it when it's needed. I have feelings like they will be attacking us tonight "

Alpha Winston frowned "Andriel is right. The clan leaders are not fools so they knew when to attack. Night is always the unexpected time for an attack and I guess Andriel's intuition is right. They must be planning for tonight"

"It's tonight then. Set the timing and get alerted with every noises" dad said and we all nodded in agreement.

Later when I walked into the room I found my mate spacing out. She was looking at the sky without blinking. I walked to her and hugged her from behind. Having her in my arms feels so good.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked. "You seem to spacing out lately"

"You are back already?" She turned around and smiled.

"Yes, I had some work so it's late. Have you had dinner?" I asked. Because of the upcoming war I was busy and couldn't give her much attention.

She nodded "I did"

"Good, so what are you thinking about?" I smiled.

"Nothing, I just feel strange today"

I frowned "strange? What happened? Are you feeling bad or something? Should we go to the pack doctor?"

"What? No, I am fine" she shook her head. "What I am saying is. I feel strange about the weather. Look outside, it's cloudy and I feel like something bad is about to happen"

I cupped her face and gave a kiss on her sweet lips. I would have fucked her hard if the tension of war was not there. Fuck, I have to wait till I remove those bastards first before burying myself in her warmth. I just couldn't wait for it. I want the war to happen fast so that I can wrap up everything and finally get some holiday.

"Andriel?"

"Yes" I smiled at her.

"The war will be soon isn't it?" She looked tense.

"Are you afraid?" I frowned.

She shook her head "I am not afraid of it. Since I am involved in this matter I have to face it"

"You know I will protect you right?"

She flashed her gorgeous smile "I know, you are doing this all the time. If you are here, with me, then I have no fear besides I am waiting for my seal to break too. I just couldn't wait for it" she said in excitement and when suddenly her pendent glowed. We were surprised when we looked at it.

"It's glowing," she whispered.

I tugged her dress revealing her cleavage only to see the half of the pattern mark disappearing. Her seal was breaking. The Blue Amber stopped glowing and dimed to its original color again.

"I never knew this pendant worked like this" she gasped.

I chuckled and kissed her nose "you are adorable"

She grinned "adorable than Lysithea?"

I laughed "you are still stuck at that point? Are you that jealous of her?"

"I am not jealous but a little curious. Beautiful faces are always distracting" she replied.

I smirked at her "you are right. Beautiful faces are always distracting" I leaned my head to kiss her.

"What did you say?" She pushed me. "You are praising her infront of me?" She glared "how dare you?". Fuck even her glares are so arousing. I don't know how to control myself around her.

I smirked "you are thinking too highly about it sweetheart, don't you think so?"

"Humph, who's talking to you?" She turned around. Before she could go any farther I grabbed her by her waist.

"Where do you think you are going?" I asked her.

"You....let me go" she tried to break free from my clutch.

"You think you can get away? Even if you are the strongest female wolf you won't be able to break free from my clutch" I laughed.

"You dared to bring Lysithea again?"

I frowned "when did I take her name?"

"Isn't she considered to be the strongest female wolf? Your pack members are too delighted to have her" she made a mocking face.

"She is," I nodded. She was about to say something again when I cut her in the middle "but only in her pack. Her strength and ability doesn't count in every pack. You should have known this fact" I flicked her forehead making her wince.

"Ouch" she rubbed her forehead glaring at me. "You are too much"

"And you are adorable" I smiled at her.

"You are seriously -"

There was a knock on the door before she could complete her words.

"Who's this?" I asked.

"Alpha, there's a news" I heard Fenriz's voice on the other side "they are at the border"

"I will be there in a minute" I said and turned to look at my mate. She was looking at me with worry.

I smiled and walked to her before pulling her in my arms "everything is alright "

"They- mean - those clan leaders?" She asked.

"You don't have to worry about them. Let me handle their affair" I assured her. "You need to stay here with others, okay? And don't do anything reckless"

"Are you doubting me?" She frowned again.

"No, I am worrying about you," I sighed. "I have to go now. Once everything is over, we will continue from where we left today" I smiled and walked out of the room.

I need to finish this war as soon as possible to get back to my mate.
