Chapter 61

Sandra's POV

When we reached our room, I asked Alessia to call the pack doctor and luckily he arrived immediately. He was helping the other wolves with his team who got wounded during the fight.

"The wound is deep but it's not serious. It will take 3 days to heal" Christopher, the pack doctor, said after bandaging his arm. "But you need to avoid water during this days, it's not good to get touched by it"

Andriel nodded and asked "what about the injury in the pack? Is there anything serious?"

"There's not much Alpha. It was lucky they got minor wounds to deal with. My team and I have prepared good medication. In a week of time everything will be settled. Since my work is done, I will leave now. I have to check other patients. If there's any need, please do inform me" the pack doctor said and left.

"He must be in a hurry. Even though he said there were minor injuries in the pack, the amount of people who got hurt was huge" I said as I looked at the closed door.

"He will handle it. It's his job and he loves it. There won't be much problem at all"

I turned to look at him. My gaze fell on the bandaged area "what about those clan leaders?" I sat on the bed beside him.

He smiled, "they got what they wanted of course. There's no way they could challenge and be able to walk off. Since they tried to dirty my place, I had to wash it with their own blood"

"I don't know why they are so hateful. They even betrayed their own Alpha for greed. Because of them, dad couldn't trust anyone" I frowned at the thought. He has been fighting for years just to get rid of them, who were considered as his own people before. Why couldn't they stand their loyalty and rebel like this?

"Greed of power is something which will blind eyes and darken the heart. At that time they couldn't think of anything but blood" Andriel replied before he grabbed my hand "but that difficult phase has already passed. You don't have to worry about it. They are gone, forever. There's no way they will return again"

"You killed them all?" I gasped.

He shook his head "though I was angry with them but it was not my place to kill them. Your father had been yearning for the chance to let his anger out. He has been wanting to have their heads in his hand and I guess this time he could fulfill his desire. Those clan leaders are the reason for the Red Ice Pack's destruction years ago. Because of them he was forced to send his wife and daughter away. The pain of being separated from a mate and kid is the hardest part but he was so strong willed that he endured for so many years. He is the strongest Alpha I have ever seen. Now I truly admire his strength. It was impressive"

I smiled "since dad got what he wanted he could settle his heart from now on. We have been living alone and facing problems. I am glad mom never gave up yet she always tried to manage everything so well. It's not only dad but mom too helped him so hard"

"I appreciate her efforts. If it was not for her, I wouldn't be able to get you as my mate." Andriel replied. His words touched my heart. This man always knows how to make me fall harder for him.

"I will bring something for you to eat" I said and walked out of the room. I was going to the kitchen when I saw Lysithea walking from the other side. We both stopped on our track and looked at each other. She took the first steps to walk towards me.

"How's he?" She asked.

"He is fine, got some minor injuries"

She nodded "I am leaving today"

"What?" I was surprised by her sudden declaration. She is leaving? How come she became so understanding? Is she giving up on him?

"You heard me. My purpose of coming here is useless now. I thought things will go as per I planned but..." She let out a chuckle. She looked up "you really did a good job in the battle. No wonder you are destined to be his mate. I used to wonder why Andriel is always after you. But today I understand. It was a waste of time" she sighed.

"What happened to you suddenly? I thought you were challenging me" I said, frowning.

"What's the point of that?" She shook her head. "It's true that I have been in love with him since we were young but his happiness is what I always wanted. I thought it was his bad luck that he was paired with a human. But the moon goddess really blessed him well. See you weren't a human at all. Anyways, I don't have a habit of giving long speeches. I have said whatever I needed. I hope you two will live well" after saying that she walked past me leaving me dumbfounded. I turned to look at her back.

What just happened? I couldn't understand Lysithea's character. It’s her who was challenging me yet she is now leaving by herself?

Lysithea may be arrogant but she is really a smart one. She knows when to stop things and she really did it. I know her motives towards Andriel and prepared for that cold war but at the end she beat me, she left declaring her decision. Today I truly admire her strength. She is really the most powerful enemy I could ever have in my life. The saying fits really well, 'it's better to have a smart enemy than a fool of a friend'. I shook my head and walked inside the kitchen.

The war which was feared by everyone finally came to an end. And now it's time to collect things to settle down.

"Wait what?" Alessia's eyes widened, "what you are saying is true?"

I rolled my eyes, "do you think I have the heart to joke around? Her matter is not something I can take lightly. You know that"

"But.... I still can't believe it. I mean Lysithea is a proud kind of girl. She really left on her own? It's so surprising. I couldn't simply digest this fact. Oh.. my god.... What I am hearing"

"Of course it's surprising. I was shocked too but seeing how determined she is, I finally realized no, it's true and her leaving the pack is really happening"

"So what do you think about it?"

"What do you mean?" I frowned.

She shrugged "I mean now that she left on her own, it means she is accepting the defeat and finally letting my brother go. So what do you think about it?"

I sighed "though I really want to believe her leaving is normal but it's not something I could process so easily. Lysithea on the other hand is really a powerful opponent. She knows what she is doing. She is smart and collected or the pack members wouldn't have respected her like that. But the thing is no matter how much glory she secured for herself, it was unchangeable that she is mateless and Andriel is not hers in the first place. She knows it well. Though she tried all these years to win him over but couldn't. I know she has taken me lightly because she thinks I am an ordinary human and is no match for her. But war broke out in such a situation then dad's arrival and those seal things, everything went on so fast that there's no time for a peaceful thought. And now I got my wolf and my true self, I guess this might made her back away"

Alessia listened carefully "though, I am still surprised but I can say Lysithea is not that bad as I pictured her to be. Well at least she is smarter than Jarek you know"

"Speaking about him, I saw you slapped him. What happened?"

She rolled her eyes, "don't ask me. He is kind of disgusting. He thinks because he has finally gained the heart to look at me, I will throw myself on him thinking he is my one and only. I never thought my paired mate would be this horrible. Now I couldn't stand his sight anymore. And I slapped him because he tried to force a kiss on me. I was so angry that I had to give him some medicine"

"How long are you two going to be like that?" I asked, "if your relationship is not going on track, it's better to move on"

"I am doing it," she said suddenly.

"Doing what?" I frowned.

She sighed "I wanted to end. I couldn't possibly hang on to such a baseless relationship. So I did what I think best for us"

My eyes widened, "wait you really did not do what I am thinking about. Are you?"

Alessia looked sad but she nodded her head, "I have finally freed myself from this sadness. I have rejected him because I understand he was never mine nor will ever be. I want to be happy and I guess this is the best way to start a new"

"Oh Alessia" I felt bad for her. I walked to her and pulled her for a warm hug, "everything will be alright okay. There must be something waiting for you"

I heard her sigh "I am just hoping for nest"

I will pray for her to find someone better. After such hard trouble she deserves a good reward.
