Chapter 139

The morning started like any other, though I had spent most of it dodging Tammy. Somehow, that girl could find you no matter where you hid, and she always had a reason to make you want to slam your head into a wall. Today, she was sporting yet another dress that looked more like lingerie, with her chest nearly spilling out and her skirt barely brushing her thighs. She pranced around the packhouse like she was in a beauty pageant, but really, she was just a walking disaster waiting to happen.

I managed to stay clear of her for most of the day until, unfortunately, the universe decided to punish me.

I was on my way to the kitchen when Jake came in from training, shirtless, his body slick with sweat, muscles flexing with every movement. My traitorous eyes raked over him, noting the way his abs looked like they were carved from stone and his arms bulged as he wiped his face with a towel.

Focus, Ayla, I told myself, swallowing hard.

But before I could pretend I hadn’t noticed him, Tammy made her grand entrance. She sashayed into the room in her heels, her ridiculously short dress clinging to her like a second skin.

“Oh no!” she gasped dramatically, pretending to stumble right in front of Jake.

He caught her reflexively, his strong arms wrapping around her to keep her upright. She let out a little giggle, her cheeks flushing bright red as she pressed her hands against his chest.

“Thank you, Alpha,” she said breathlessly, looking up at him like he had just saved her life.

Jake didn’t even flinch. He set her upright and stepped back as if she were contagious. “Be careful,” he said dryly before turning and walking away, clearly unbothered.

Tammy, however, smirked like she had just won the lottery.

I was seeing red. My wolf growled low in my mind, and I could practically feel her imagining all the ways we could drag that girl by her hair and mop the floor with her. It took every ounce of self-control not to act on it.

Tammy, oblivious to my murderous thoughts, sauntered off to terrorize the workers again. I clenched my fists, trying to calm myself, but it wasn’t working. My wolf wasn’t having it. Before I could think better of it, I found myself following Jake, my feet moving on their own.

I stormed down the hall, my rage building with every step. By the time I reached his room, I wasn’t thinking straight. Without knocking, I pushed the door open and stepped inside.

Jake stood near the window, still shirtless, his towel draped over one shoulder as he drank from a water bottle. He turned at the sound of the door opening, one eyebrow raising in question.

“What now?” he asked, his tone laced with mild annoyance.

I didn’t even pause to think. “She has to go.”

Jake blinked. “What?”

“That girl—Tammy—she has to leave,” I said, my voice shaking with anger. “How can you stand her throwing herself at you like that? It’s disgusting!”

Jake smirked, his lips twitching upward in amusement.

I narrowed my eyes. “Why are you smiling? This is serious!”

He set the bottle down and started walking toward me, his eyes glinting with something I couldn’t quite place.

“Are you jealous?” he asked, his voice low and teasing.

I stepped back instinctively, but he kept coming, his presence overwhelming. That’s when I realized just how close he was—and that he was still half-naked. My cheeks flushed, and I cursed myself for noticing how perfect his body was.

“Don’t be ridiculous,” I said, though my voice sounded less confident than I would have liked.

He didn’t stop. In a heartbeat, he was in front of me, his hand wrapping around my wrist to keep me from retreating further. His eyes darkened, the usual icy blue now stormy and intense.

“Really?” he murmured, tilting his head slightly. “Because you seem jealous to me.”

I shook my head, trying to pull away, but his grip was firm.

“I’m not—”

Before I could finish, he leaned down, his nose brushing against my neck as he inhaled deeply.

“You’re cute when you’re jealous,” he whispered, his breath hot against my skin.

I froze, my heart pounding so loudly I was sure he could hear it.

“Jake,” I said, my voice trembling. “This isn’t—”

But he wasn’t listening. In one swift motion, he lifted me off the ground and tossed me onto the bed.

“Jake!” I yelped, but before I could move, he was there, his hands gripping my thighs as he settled between them.

“Let me prove something to you,” he said, his voice a low growl.

My breath hitched as he pushed my dress up, his strong hands trailing up my legs, sending shivers through me. His eyes locked on mine, dark and hungry, before dipping lower. With a single, deliberate movement, he pushed my panties aside, exposing me completely.

I gasped, my hands gripping the sheets as his warm breath ghosted over my most sensitive area.

“Jake—”

But whatever I was about to say was lost in a moan as his lips pressed against me, hot and demanding.

His tongue moved with purpose, exploring every inch of me, and I couldn’t hold back the sounds that escaped my lips. He sucked gently, then harder, his movements relentless as he held my thighs apart, keeping me in place.

“Jake, oh my—”

I arched my back, my body reacting to him in ways I couldn’t control. The pleasure was overwhelming, building with every flick of his tongue, every graze of his teeth.

“Jake, please,” I begged, though I wasn’t sure if I was asking him to stop or keep going.

He growled against me, the vibration sending shockwaves through my body.

“You taste so good,” he muttered, his voice muffled as he continued his assault.

My fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer as the pressure inside me built to a breaking point.

“I—I can’t—”

And then I shattered, my body trembling as waves of pleasure crashed over me. He didn’t stop, drawing out every last ounce of bliss until I was left gasping for air.

When he finally pulled away, his lips were glistening, and he looked up at me with a smug smile.

“Still mad?” he asked, his voice low and teasing.

I glared at him, though it lacked any real heat.
