Chapter 258
ARIA
I looked at my mother as she held my face. I had missed her so much despite our fights and despite how mad I was at her before. Just the feeling that I could have lost her too made my heart crumble. She smiled at me and then raised an eyebrow as she looked at my hair.
"And what was the inspiration behind this new color?" She asked.
I smiled nervously. To be honest, I wanted to tell her everything, but maybe right now wasn't the right time for all that. "I just felt like a change; we are on land now, might as well make a few changes myself. I have always wanted to try something new with my hair," I lied.
I could feel Sasha's stare from a distance. She was sitting in the room we had been given, me and my mom. She insisted on staying and sat in a corner to give us privacy. Luckily, my mom didn't ask too many questions about Sasha. Lilah and the rest had gone to their parents for some bonding time as well.
A lot was going on. I would eventually tell my mother, hopefully the opportunity would present itself soon. My mother didn't seem convinced, but she nodded her head. "I see, it suits you."
I smiled at her before asking her what was bothering me so much. "Do you really trust these people, Mom? I have a feeling we are in a bit of trouble here."
Clarke shook her head. "Aria, this is our new home now, and it's safer here. We can start over here, and the council members are nice people; they are treating us like royalty."
I widened my eyes. "They kidnapped you and held you captive here. I came to rescue you, Mom."
She held my hands softly. "Aria, can't you see that this is what we have been searching for? Freedom, civilization, a home with people just like us. They have everything here, a society full of life." She explained, and my heart started racing because she was right.
This is what we have been looking for, and we found it. There was no way my people were going to be comfortable staying with werewolves. They wouldn't understand how I was staying with creatures half wolf and half human. They would be freaked out. This was home, this was comfortable, and if my people were safe here I was not going to force them into the wild. The only problem was what was I going to do.
I nodded. "I am just glad you are safe, Mom."
She smiled. "I am so happy my daughter is finally with me. You don't know how worried I was. It was killing me."
"I know...I am here now," I smiled at her. "I am just going to talk to Sasha for a bit, is that okay?"
"Of course, and maybe you girls can explore, there's so much to see out here. It's beautiful; you can even ask one of the guards to show you the twin rivers, it's amazing. I have a council meeting in a few minutes so I will see you after that," she said with excitement. It made me smile a lot; my mom was so happy, and that's all I wanted for my people, to be this happy.
I stood up. "Okay, sounds like fun!"
I left the room with Sasha, and we walked down the corridor. Everything was so nicely built; the walls were covered in paintings, and I noticed that there were dragon statues in every corridor and room.
"Sasha, do you think this place is really safe for my people?" I asked a bit concerned.
Sasha sighed. "I don't like Westeroz or the people of Westeroz because we do not have a great history, but if I am being honest, this place is safe for your people. They are all humans, and this is where humans belong with other people. The East makes humans turn wild like see the people of Trez, they go mad in the wild. They lose themselves and become crazy. People should be with people, with civilization and a society like your mom said. She seems happy here, but you, Aria, belong with your mate. He will find you."
"I know...I miss him. It's just that I also miss my mom and my friends. They are also my home, you know," I explained to her.
Sasha held my hand as we walked outside, and it was truly beautiful. There was a large garden; it looked like heaven on earth. "Wow," Sasha said.
"Wow, indeed," I smiled.
"Luna, your home is with them; it is also with us. I promise to bring you here to visit your family as much as I can. It will be difficult but we will try to make it work." She said, and I felt like hugging her. She was a kind soul and I was grateful to have her on my side.
"You are very kind, Sasha.I feel better already; this all worked out for the best. My family has found a home, but I have this feeling that the council must want something in return. They wouldn't just treat my people like royalty for nothing," I said as I touched some roses. Such beautiful flowers they were.
Sasha nodded as she walked by my side. "Of course, they want a lot in return. Your people are very useful to them; you came with great machines, such technology is amazing, and you have great weapons. Westeroz will need that so they can become advanced as well, but know this: your family will be safe always because Westeroz needs them. For their minds and intelligence, so don't worry."
It bothered me that the people of Westeroz wanted to use my people for their intelligence and for what we had. However, people used people; that was how the world works. With Jack around and my mom, everything would be fine. We were strong, and we were definitely good at defending ourselves, so I wasn't that worried. I just hoped that nothing would go wrong because my people and politics were a bad combination.
