Chapter 58
I was beyond furious,first of all this wolf just threw me on the ground and that itself could have hurt my baby.I could feel the pain of his weight on my shoulder blade,defending myself was harder now considering the fact that he had caught me off guard with his attack.I couldn't think straight and that was blocking my powers.I tried to concentrate but all I could think of was 'nothing',I almost growled in annoyance.
"I am your Alpha's mate,it is best that you get off me now"I said annoyed
The wolf scoffed and so did the other wolves surrounding us,some even laughed. "Did you hear this demon,she claims to be our Alpha's mate!"he laughed increasing his grip on my wrist it actually hurt a lot "I should just kill you right now for uttering such rubbish "
I tried wriggling out of his hold but another wolf immediately stepped on my neck and I choked,this was getting out of hand. "If you don't get off me right now,"
"shut up!"he said slapping me and there was a growl before the weight on me suddenly disappeared.I groaned as I got up the ground and looked at the bulky man who was on me getting beaten to a pulp by Chris. I dusted my jeans and stretched my hand which was already healing.Everyone was staring at the beta in shock wondering why he was beating up a fellow member of the pack.
I rubbed my belly just a little, glad that I was not feeling any pain after what just happened.If I was human I am sure I would have been in a hospital.A few men in black uniform walked in "Beta Chris what is the meaning this?" one of them spoke.His uniform was slightly different with yellow tags running down his sleeve.
Chris threw one more fist to the wolf on the ground before standing up straight to answer the man in black. "I should kill the fool.He attacked the Alpha's mate!" he growled and everyone gasped at the revelation.So most people did not think I was Jake's mate-great.
I just stood there frozen,what else could I even do in such a situation.The leader of the men in black looked at me with a grim face and then back at the beta "As far as we know the red wolf is the Alpha's half and you beta attacked a member of our pack.You will be answering to the council right now"
"Oh yeah sure...I wouldn't want to miss the Alpha's face when he hears how his true mate was attacked by seven wolves"he said leading the way.
The man looked pissed off by the betas words but he kept his facial expression neutral, "You follow as well"he said to me .
I followed behind them quietly.I was feeling uneasy,hungry and maybe even a bit pissed off but mostly tired.My shoulder was taking a bit longer to heal and even my busted lip,it felt a bit bruised.I licked it out of instinct and I was right it tasted sour-a bloody taste and it was sore.We got to small hall that looked like more of a courtroom of some sort.Jake was sitting behind a large desk with a few papers in front of him and he was talking to two men that were standing in front of his desk nodding to whatever he was saying.However he stopped talking when he felt our presence,maybe mostly mine because I felt his silver eyes piercing through my soul.
I felt him literally staring at me,he didn't look happy at all that is all I could say.He dismissed two of the men he was talking to and as soon as they left he beckoned us to come forward. He looked like judge,well I felt like I was about to get a sentence in hell. Since when was Jake the council...
"Speak"he commanded one of the men,the leader of the men in black
The leader cleared his throat "My Lord,your beta brutally attacked one of the members of our pack.As you can see my Lord the man is severely hurt even for a wolf.This is unacceptable ,such behavior deserves a severe punishment,even the people are in shock and await to here your response to such brutality"
I almost scoffed,such brutality?The guy deserved to be locked up in a cage for assaulting me for being what I am,something that I had no control over.Jake assessed the wolf that was injured,his bloody wounds were beginning to heal but he was still being held by two other men in black for support.
He directed his gaze to the beta "Why did you attack him..."
"He attacked your mate,he had her down on the ground with a few other mutts"Chris said in disgust.
Jake was too calm,dangerously calm as he stood up from his seat and walked towards us.He stood in front of the men holding the injured wolf.He licked his teeth visibly as if they were itching to rip into something. "You laid your hands on my mate,yes?"
The man nodded daring not to look the Alpha in the eye.Jake tightened his jaw and snapped his head at me as if suddenly realizing that I was in the room. "Come,"he said sternly and I walked to him.He held my jaw looking at me and slowly he put his finger on my bruised lip.I didn't wince because it did not hurt anymore. He kept his finger there for a few seconds and returned his gaze to the injured wolf. "Do you know the price of attacking an Alphas mate...death."
I scrunched up my eyebrows,surely he wouldn't kill the guy for just bruising me a little.That was a bit extreme,he would not hurt his people."My Lord he did not know this,we believed that the red wolf was our luna and then a witch just dropped in out of nowhere.We were not told of this ,forgive him please."the leader of the men in black said.
Jake pulled me closer before sniffing me weirdly,I felt his muscles relax.He growled a little annoyed but only I heard it "take him to the dungeons.I will decide what to do with him next."
The two men holding the man nodded and took him away. "Fayn you are head of security here and I expect you to be up to date with everything that goes on around you yet here you stand not knowing your Alpha's mate...are you an incompetent fool?"Jake asked with a sudden growl.
The leader of the security now known as Fayn managed to keep a straight face even after the insult"I am sorry my Lord I was too preoccupied with a lot of work ever since your arrival,I had not been notified of this"
"Now you know,If anything like this ever happens again I will have your spine thrown in the gutters.Do your job and do it perfectly.leave I will talk to you soon,you too beta I have a few important matters to discuss with you."he dismissed them both.
After they had left Jake grabbed my waist "Are you trying to destroy me?"he asked with so much anger in his eyes.
"huh?"I managed to say out.
