Maurvi's POV



I saw Mehul and Megha with another very good looking couple coming towards us. The guys hugged and congratulated Vikram. The girls were looking beautiful, they also congratulated him.

Gautam introduced me to Rahul and Priya. I really liked them too.

Rahul said to me, " Mehul told me that Gautam has a very beautiful girlfriend, but I had a doubt. Which beautiful girl would choose him as her boyfriend? Now that I have met you, I am really concerned about you. Would you like me to suggest some other eligible bachelors for you? " Gautam hit him on his back.

" Thanks a lot, I am touched by your concern but he is perfect for me. " I said with a smile. Gautam was grinning like anything.

"Well, if you have decided then what can we do? " Rahul said with a wink.

Just then Sandhya came into the room and walked slowly towards Vikram. She was looking downwards and came and stood near Vikram.

He bent a bit towards her and whispered something. She must have been shocked to hear his voice... She immediately looked at him. Then she whispered something. She was looking confused.

Vikram was smiling and she was shocked and irritated. They kept whispering to each other for 2 more minutes.

Gautam said, " Hello we all are here for the engagement ceremony... You have your whole life to talk to each other... Please exchange the rings first. " Everyone started laughing.

Vikram's sister was carrying a beautiful plate decorated with rose petals and the rings were kept on them. They exchanged rings.

Everyone was clapping and cheering for them. His sister hugged both of them and they took blessings from their elders.

Gautam and I came forward to congratulate them.

Mehul- Megha and Rahul- Priya had also come. He introduced them all to Sandhya. She smiled and greeted everyone. Her friends came and were talking to her so we moved aside.

" Hey Maurvi, I would like you to meet my sister Vidhi... She is just like you. Come I will introduce you... " He held my hand and started walking towards the place where he last saw her.

" Hey, Vikram, you are holding Maurvi's hand... That one belongs to me... " Gautam stopped us. Vikram and I rolled our eyes...

" I don't belong to you. " I said to him. He caught my hand and said, " You do darling... And you know that." He is a drama king.

" Ok, let me find Vidhi. " he went away to look for her.

Gautam's POV

Vikram went to see Vidhi and I was just about to say something when Aakash and Aditi came to us and greeted us. Aditi kept her hand on my arm and caressed it.

Maurvi looked at her and smiled. " Oh Gautam, please tell your friend that I am a very possessive girlfriend and I hate it if anyone touches you. If she doesn't remove her hand right away, she won't be able to touch anything again in her life. "

Aditi removed her hand instantly but glared at her. Maurvi looked happy and held my arm.

Aakash said, " If I am not mistaken, Your pictures were there in the local newspaper today? " Maurvi gave him a faint smile and nodded.

" I must say you were looking really good. You were given many titles as well. Did you study at the same college as Sandhya? So you are also going to become a dietician? "

" Yes, I am from the same college. I want to be a lecturer in the same college... but I will be doing an internship as a dietician also because then I'll have two career options. " She replied politely and Aakash nodded but I did not like the way he was looking at her.

A waiter came with some juices. I picked one for her and she asked the waiter what it was and the waiter said that it was apple juice. She shook her head and said that she didn't like apples. So she took pomegranate juice.

" Oh !! you want to be a dietician and you don't even know that apple is so good for health. Have you ever heard of the saying- ' An apple a day keeps the doctor away ? "

Aditi said in a sarcastic tone and Maurvi raised her eyebrow at her and then smiled.

" Aww. I know the nutritive value of almost each and every food item. I think Apple is just overrated. There are many other food items that are as good as apples. If you want I can give you a detailed account of all of them. But right now I am here to enjoy the engagement ceremony of our dear friends. And... yes, I have heard about the saying - An apple a day keeps the doctor away. But I will tell you the extended version.

It goes like this...

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but if the doctor is handsome, keep the apple away."

She looked at me and smiled, and then she winked at Aditi. I grinned like a fool. I snaked my arm around her waist. Wanted to kiss her for that.

Oh, God!! Please make it come true...

Aakash smiled at that but Aditi looked irritated and said, " So you always had a crush on him?"

" Oh yes, since I was 10. " She winked at me.

Liar, she knows me only for the last 5 years. But I just loved her extended version of the saying.

Aditi made a face and walked away and Aakash followed her. I looked at her and again she burst into her beautiful laughter.

" So you have a crush on me? " I asked her and she said," Since I was 10. " she laughed again.

" Another laughter fit? You know I can cure it. " I said smirking to her.

" No... Thanks, but I want to consult another doctor. Arre Vikram is busy... How about Aakash? " she smiled with a raised eyebrow.

" No way, don't you dare... I will beat him to pulp before you do that. " I said glaring at her. She smiled and walked towards our other friends.

Oh God!!! I am getting crazy... This girl is too much.

We all had food and kept teasing each other.

Party was getting over and the guests started taking their leave... Almost every girl hugged Sandhya and a few kissed her on the cheek. Vikram was looking at them

" I know what is going on in your mind... You want to hug and kiss her too... " I said, smirking at him.

" Hmmm look everyone is hugging her... now c'mon yaar... She is engaged to me... I must get to kiss and hug her... but no..."

" Oh don't worry, my boy....you will also get a chance very soon... And anyway you kissed her today...." He said.

" Yes but... I can't get enough of her...."

" You are becoming crazy now... " I shook my head and smiled.

" Come I will give you a hug as you are feeling left out... Or even better I must give a hug to Sandhya... " I said and started walking towards her. He pulled my kurta from the backside and said, " Don't even think about it... Where is Maurvi? "

" She is talking on the phone with her best friend. " I said and went to look for her.

She was still talking on the phone with her and looked really upset. She closed her eyes and said bye. I asked her if everything is ok? She just nodded. I didn't ask any questions as maybe she needs time.

We came back and after she met Sandhya we left. I drove silently and she kept her eyes closed. I parked the car in my driveway. We got out of the car. She walked to her door and opened the door. I caught her hand to stop her.

" Maurvi if you want you can tell me what is bothering you. What did she say? "

" Nothing, she chose him over me."

She said and smiled. I know how hurt she was.

"She says she is in love with him and can't forget him. I tried to persuade her but she got annoyed and said a few things. And I don't know what to do... " A lone tear rolled from her eyes. I took her in my arms and she cried.

" Maurvi, you need to be strong. You can't take decisions on her part. I know that you are right and she is wrong. But you have to find another way. We will find a way. " She nodded.
