Chapter 21

Gautam's POV



I did not want to go out as I wanted everyone to know that she was my girlfriend. I wanted all those silly boys to stay away from her. Every time any guy called her, I got very annoyed. I scolded him pretending to be her father.

Most of the time of the class was already wasted, so only 10 minutes were left. I asked about the courses which were available there. The counselor told me about all of them.

The class got over and she came out. She was a bit surprised to see me inside the institute. I went towards her and I caught her arm and drew her a bit towards me and said, " You don't need to worry about those phone calls sweetheart, I have told them not to pass on your number to anyone. " She looked at me with surprise and just nodded. We came out of the building but kept standing there for some time. I wanted everyone to see me with her.

I was feeling that I was behaving like an over-possessive idiot but I couldn't help it.

Somehow it became important to me that everyone must know that she was mine and must keep away.

I snaked my arm around her waist. She stiffened a bit and looked at me with utter surprise. I was about to explain myself to her but Prachi came to us.

" Where is Naman? What have you done? Why was he called out of the class and why the hell, he did not return? "

" He has been transferred to another branch, he will not come here now. He gave Maurvi's number to so many guys... Everyone kept calling her. "

" How can you do that? You have no right....who are you to force him to go away? You did it for her... " Prachi was shouting at me now.

" Calm down, I did it for both of you, Prachi. He was not a good man and I wanted both of you to be safe. I have every right to think about Maurvi's safety as I am her boyfriend. He even has a few criminal records against him. Just give me some time I will prove it to you."

" I don't care and I don't want to talk to you or her. Why doesn't she want me to have some happiness? Why can't she leave us alone now that she has you? " She was saying and Maurvi was looking very upset.

" I don't care if you talk to us or not, but I will still say that she is fighting for you. As she really loves you and she knows that he is not good for you. As her boyfriend, I will stand by her. I will not let anyone hurt her physically or psychologically. "

"Go to hell, both of you," She said and marched off angrily.

I looked at her, she was about to cry. I kept my hand on her shoulder. She looked at me and smiled faintly but I could see the pain she was feeling right now.

" I am sorry Maurvi, but I think it was needed to keep him away from you as well as her. "

" Yes I know, thank you. At least she won't be able to meet him easily," she said and I drove her back.



Maurvi's POV



It has been two days since she hasn't talked to me. I tried my level best, but she would not even pick up my phone. I tried her residence phone number but she did not talk to me. Amit called me up and said that he has collected all the proofs.

Today I would have to show them to her when she would come for computer class.

Gautam asked me to come for a movie with him, Vikram, and Sandhya. But I had to go and show the proof to Prachi.

Gautam seems to be very concerned about me. He said if I can't come to watch a movie at the cinema hall then we all must watch one at his home theatre. I agreed to it. I said that I would be there by 7 PM.

I went to college and then asked Amit to come to my computer center at quarter to five. He said he would. I spent my day at college and then went to my center directly. Amit was already waiting for me. He showed me all the proofs. I called her but as usual, she didn't pick it up.

I had to tell Amit again to help me and he did that. He had two phones. He called me from one of them and told me to keep it on as this way, I could hear his conversion with her. He approached her and asked her to come aside as he wanted to show her something. He had met him a few times with me. She was reluctant but came with him. He took him to where his car was parked. I was watching from a hidden place nearby.

She was standing there but awkwardness was quite evident there.

" What do you want to show me? " She asked him looking directly into his eyes.

" I saw you with Naman that day Prachi and since then I wanted to talk to you. " He said.

" You know him," she asked him as now she was a bit surprised.

" Yes, unfortunately, I do."

" Unfortunately??? What do you mean? "

" I mean, Prachi, he is a cheapster. My best friend's cousin was in love with him. "

" What?? "

" He used to shout at her and once he even slapped her hard because she was talking to some other guy. He had serious anger issues. He was even arrested for misbehaving with someone just because he got angry. That poor girl got so scared and fed up with him that she had to take help from her family to get out of that difficult relationship. He even blackmailed her as he didn't want her to get off him. She ultimately had to take a restraining order against him. "

" Are you kidding me? He is not like that. "

" I have all the proofs. If you want I can show them to you. Please try and understand Prachi, I don't want to see you suffering like my friend's cousin did. Just stay away from him. "

" Why are you doing this? Is it because Maurvi asked you to do that?"

" Yes, that is one of the reasons... She is extremely important to me. I would do anything for her. "

" What do you mean by one of the reasons? What are other reasons? "

" Leave them... It is most important for you that you stay away from him. Have a look at the proofs. " He was showing her the papers.

" If you want, you can talk to my friend. He can persuade his cousin to tell you everything."

" I don't know..... How can he... I don't want to believe any of this, but proof... I don't know...."

" Wait, let me call my friend... You can talk to her." He dialed his number.

" Hi yaar, I want you to talk to..... a friend of mine. Can you please tell her anything you know about Naman? " he then gave his phone to her.

She said hello in a not so certain voice. She kept listening to what his friend was saying. Tears were forming in her eyes. She could not say a word. She gave the phone to Amit and ran away. She was running away from the center. I ran after her. Amit also ran after her and caught her hand but she requested him to leave her alone.

" Will you be alright? Are you sure you can go alone? I can drop you if you want. Please don't go alone. "

" Why are you being so nice.. ?" She asked him.

" I don't know... I just don't want to leave you alone like this. Let me drop you, please. " She nodded.

He slid into his car and went to drop her home. I was relaxed now that atleast she knows the truth now.
