Chapter 45

Gautam's POV



I saw that my phone was ringing. It was Sid. This is too much, why was he calling me? I mean, he was right here in this party.

He is always flirting with girls. I hope he had not offended anyone or landed himself in some hot soup? I picked up the phone.

" Hello !! What have you done now Sid? I swear..."

" Bhai, come near washrooms. Fast, it is urgent... " Then I heard a faint sound as if someone punched something. I heard someone shouting.

" Hey!!! What happened?? Are you alright? " But I heard him shouting at someone.

" Oh shit !! Where are washrooms?? " I asked. Vikram pointed towards a direction and we started running there. He did not even ask what happened as he could feel that something was wrong. We saw three men fighting. We ran even faster as we could not make out who they were as everyone was in whites which were colourful now.

Oh god !! Sid is one of them. I would beat them, if I find any scratches on my brother. We reached closer and saw Sid punched someone and shouted, " I will kill you. " I was still a few meters away.

The man he punched fell on the ground and another man made him stand and punched him hard and said," How dare you touch her?? " Another man was Kshitij. Both of them looked furious.

Oh god was it... N-Noopur ... Or.... ? No !!!

We reached there and Vikram caught the man they were beating and was shocked to see a well beaten Aakash.

" What was going on?" Vikram asked, as I was just a bit scared to ask.

" He was misbehaving with Maurvi... " Kshitij said.

What the hell...

I caught Aakash and punched him very hard. He fell on the ground, I made him stand once more and punched him in his stomach this time. He fell on the ground.

" How dare you touch my Maurvi ?? I will kill you... " he tried to stir but then got unconscious. I bent to pick him up, but Vikram caught me tightly. I was pushing him as I was going mad with rage.

" Bhai, leave him, see if she is alright... take care of her. " I looked around and saw both the sisters.

I could not see Maurvi's face as her back was turned towards me. I ran towards her. Noopur was trying to talk to her but she was not speaking. I was shocked to see her like that. I held her by her arm and she winced slightly.

Was she hurt?

I caught her hands and asked her, " Maurvi, Maurvi ? Are you alright? " Tears were flowing from her eyes and I wanted to kill that Aakash but was much more concerned about her.

" Are you alright Maurvi? " I wiped her tears and placed my hand under her chin to make her look at me. She didn't look at me but nodded a bit.

" She hasn't spoken a word since then." Noopur said. She was also almost into tears.

" Maurvi please look at me. Are you hurt? " She shook her head lightly. I couldn't see her like this so I took her in my arms. She hid her face in my chest and started crying bitterly.

She was holding my kurta in her tightly clenched fists. I held her tightly and patted on the back of her head to calm her.

" I... w-want t-to ... g-go h-home." She said while trying to control her sobs.

" Yes, I will take you home. Have some water first. " I said but she shook her head.

" Gautam, you take her home and I will take care of this Aakash. As it is, he is unconscious right now. Sid and kshitij please go with him and keep him calm. " Vikram said.

I bent to pick her up as she looked shocked but she flinched a bit so I let it be.

But she must have taken just a few steps when she swayed a bit and I caught her in my arms and she fainted. I was shocked as hell. So Vikram came running and checked her.

" It is ok, it could be just because of stress or shock because of the incident. just take her home and make her rest. "

" Oh god !!! Maurvi? Maurvi? Oh god, she is so careless. She does not eat properly. Her appetite is so less and since yesterday she has overworked and now this stress. " Noopur was saying.

I picked her up in my arms, took her to the car and I sat in the backseat with her and Noopur.

Sid drove the car while Kshitij slid in the front passenger seat. We all drove home. Noopur opened the door. Maurvi had not spoken a single word since then. She must be really shocked.

I was clenching my fist. How dared he touch her. She was behaving like a statue. She winced when I had caught her hand. I will kill him once I know what he did to her.

I took her out of the car and slowly went to her room and laid her on her bed and did the basic check up again.

" Is she fine ?? "

" Yes... Don't worry. She will be fine soon. "

I went to the living room where everyone else was. Noopur followed me. " Tell me, whatever you know. "

" We were playing Holi. I was running after her and she was running to escape me and all of a sudden she bumped into someone and she apologized. He applied lots of Gulal ( dry powdered colour) on her face and some of it seemed to go in her eyes or nose. Just then kshitij threw water on me and I ran after him. When I threw colour on him it got into his eyes and it reminded me of her and we went where I saw her last." Noopur said.

" We could not find her and then I saw her. That man was holding her hand tightly, we saw while we ran towards her she stomped on his feet twice. And then he caught her arm tightly and said something she slapped him hard twice as well. He was about to hurt her when I punched him on his face. He loosened his grip on her. He was saying something to her as she was really angry and shocked. It seemed that whatever he said to her, sank in later on, when she kept standing like a statue. "

" Did he hit her too? " I was shaking with rage.

" No, he must have said something bad as she looked shocked and disgusted. And she slapped him. He was about to retaliate when I started beating him. " Kshitij told us.

" She was not reacting for a few minutes, as if she was not listening. I got scared and thought of calling you but I didn't know your number. So I came to find you but I found Sid and asked him to come as I was scared to see her and they were fighting. " Noopur told me.

I wanted to kill him for touching my Maurvi.

I went back to her room, she was fine now and was about to lock the door. I saw what she intended to do and placed my foot ahead so she could not shut the door. Noopur was also coming after me.

" Gautam, Noopur please, I want some time alone. " Noopur looked at me.

" I will not leave you alone now. Please talk to me. Or if you want, you can talk to Noopur. "

" Please, I don't want to talk to anyone... Noopur go please. " Noopur left but I couldn't.

" I am not going anywhere till you tell me."

" Ok, then do whatever you want. " She said and took a fresh pair of clothes and entered into her washroom .

I came out and told Noopur to be there and went home for a shower. I came back within 15 mins. I went back to her room again.

She had already taken a bath. The dress she was wearing has very small sleeves. I could see bruises forming on her hand. My blood started boiling but I kept cool on outsides.
