Chapter 27: What the hell, DK!
Deanne says goodbye to her father with a hug and her eyes are full of tears, knowing what is coming next. Kevin returns the gesture by holding his daughter against his chest for a few seconds. He has never been one to show his feelings, but at that moment, perhaps due to the circumstances, he made an exception. However, he pushes her away, wiping away his daughter's tears, the result of a one-night stand that he didn't really want to assume, but he ended up getting used to it and training Deanne for the world he lived in, that of crime.
“Don't cry for me anymore. I don't deserve it and you know it.”
“Even so, you are my father.”
“Cry at the right time. DK will look for you when everything is finished and then at that time, do your theater. Don't forget that I gave you a mission.” Kevin looks at his daughter for the last time.
“I won't forget. Goodbye!” Deanne leaves the office and goes to her apartment, waiting for DK to come to her. As for Kevin, he sits in his comfortable chair, waiting for death to arrive, which didn't take long because Oliver and Jacob enter the office.
“Mr. Webster, get up and come with us.” Oliver gives the order
“It took you four days to finally sentence me to death. What happened? Did Deanne distract your boss?” Kevin smirks
“Mr. Webster, just get up and come with us.” Oliver repeats the order
“Do you know why they call me the Dark Overlord? One of the reasons is that I’m cold, I don’t show mercy to anyone, and another reason is that I don’t give up easily.” Kevin takes his gun hidden under the table and points it at Oliver, and soon a loud, explosive, dry sound is heard.
In the meantime, DK makes a call to Deanne who was already waiting for this moment:
“DK?!”
“Hi! Where are you? We need to talk.”
“Wow! You seem tense. I’m in my apartment, if you want you can come, the number is 811.”
A short time later, DK was ringing Deanne's doorbell, who answered promptly. She invited him in, and the young mafia boss said:
“Deanne, your father, along with other “Capis,” were embezzling money and I found out a while ago. When I got here, I was determined to put an end to it all, but I came across you and wanted to get to know you better. But now I can't hold on to this situation any longer. Your father is going to be punished.”
“I figured. I was waiting for you to do this. He was never a good father, but in the end, he took care of me in his own way.”
“That's the rule. I'm sorry, Miss Deanne.”
“Will I be able to bury my father or will he be thrown into some grave like some indigent?”
“He can be buried, but without any honor. Only you will be able to attend. The reason for his death will be written on the tombstone: “Treason and embezzlement.” So that it can serve as an example to the other subordinates.”
“I understand! I just don't know what will become of me from now on.” Deanne pretends to feel sorry for herself as she watches DK approach and pulling her into a hug..
“Don’t worry. I’ll take care of you myself.” DK kisses the fake woman’s forehead, wiping away her tears.
“Will I be able to continue working here at the hotel?”
“I don’t know, but I’ll think of something to help you.”
“Thank you, DK!” Deanne hugs him and as their mouths meet for a wet kiss, DK’s cell phone rings. He tries to ignore it, but the caller was very insistent.
“What do you want, Jacob?”
“What do you want, Jacob?”
“We have a little problem.”
“Speak up, Shit! I’m busy.”
“We came to get Kevin Webster to take him to the agreed-upon execution site, but he tried to fight back and Oliver, with his quicker reflexes, ended up shooting first. It’s a mess here. We need to know what we’re going to do now?”
DK moves away from Deanne looking for a place to talk without her hearing, finding her bedroom and entering it, closing the door, and then finally releasing his thoughts:
“Even when on time to die, that scumbag is hard work.. Oliver did a good job sending that son of a bitch to hell. I’m going to contact the doctors, the police, and whoever else I need to resolve this without drawing attention, and as for you, contact the funeral home to bury the wretched.”
“What? Are you going to bury him?” Oliver takes the cell phone from Jacob’s hand
“Deanne asked me to and I agreed. What’s the problem?”
“The problem is that you barely know this woman and you’re already fulfilling her wishes? With all due respect, you’re putting all your chips on this woman because you still love Miss Bella and think you can replace her in your heart.”
“Oliver, I think I’m giving you too much moral and you’re confusing things. Put yourself in your place and just do what I say. understood?
"Perfectly Boss!”
While DK was talking to his subordinates, Deanne sneaked up to listen from behind the door and with each word DK said she became more angrier, especially when she listened the part about Oliver killing his not at all nice father, clenching her fists tightly and whispering to herself:
“Wretched I’ll get revenge.” She quickly returned to the room when she realized that DK had ended the call with a sad expression.”
“What happened?”
“Just a problem that has already been resolved. I just ask that you trust me and stay in the apartament until I tell you that you can to go out.”
“But why?” She pretends not to know anything
“Just trust me. Is that okay?”
“I think so.” DK kisses Deanne and leaves the apartment
The stars and moon were already high in the sky when Deanne’s doorbell rang and she left her room to answer it:
“Miss Deanne, I’m Oliver and I came by order of Mr. DK. He asked me to let you know that if you want, you can move around the hotel normally and that there will be no business at the casino today, so you’re off slack. And as for your father’s funeral, it will take place tomorrow at the time and address that are on this paper. Now, if you’ll excuse me.” The tall, unfriendly-looking man prepares to leave, but:
“Oliver!”
“Is there a problem, Miss Webster?”
“How important are you to DK?” Deanne looks at him
“I didn’t understand your question.” Oliver looks strangely at the woman with a mocking face in front of him
“I was wondering, if you died, would DK avenge you or would he just to lament for you?” Before Oliver could answer, Deanne slammed the door in his face.
“You damn whore!” the big guy grumbles, finally leaving.
Deanne, on the other hand, throws herself on the couch, opening the envelope and reading the contents. Her eyes fill with tears, “I’ll get revenge, Dad.”
The next day, at 8:00 am, Deanne was at the indicated cemetery and DK was already waiting for her. Only the two of them were there to say goodbye to Kevin Webster. Oliver and Jacob watched everything from a distance. Deanne throws a white rose in the direction of the coffin and the gravediggers approach to finish the service.
“Thank you for letting me say goodbye.”
“I made an exception only because I really liked you.” DK turns to look at Deanne, who smiles
“How did you like me, thinking I was pretty? Many people do this every day in my work environment, from a simple dinner invitation to a more daring invitation, such as a quick sex. Sorry. Mr. DK, but I can do without that kind of “taste”. Deanne force the bar and it works.
"Come with me to Miami. Be my girlfriend." DK drops the bomb and Oliver, who it achieves to hear, exclaims.
"What the hell, DK!"
