Chapter 41: Théo is really a Kicher.
Bella was still breathing with difficulty, but with her eyes open and feeling Théo's embrace on her weakened body, the boy thanked his mother for seeming to be better after the medicine the doctor had applied to her vein. However, the nurse soon joined them, checking the temperature of the sick woman, verifying that her temperature had gone down a little, and then putting on the respiratory mask and all the equipment I used. It was when the mother and son slept next to each other in the early hours of the morning.
At the same time, two rooms later, Deanne tried at all costs to get DK to stay with her that night, but to her disappointment, he refused, with the excuse that he was tired and that he wouldn't be up to anything. The woman still tried to insist: "Just stay with me, we don't have to do anything if you don't want to." She hugged him, showing her charm, which she found irresistible.
"Don't do this. I need some time to myself." DK from a distance "Are you pushing me away again? I'm losing count of how many times you've rejected me in just two days that I've been here, first in front of your father and then in front of your son.”
“I'm sorry, I promise I'll make it up to you.” DK gives Deanne a quick peck on the lips, who pulls him in for a hotter kiss, thus saying goodbye. In his room, DK sits in the armchair thinking about everything that happened that day, his mind on Bella, whether she had gotten better, whether the nurse was already helping her. This worry consumed him and so he waited a few more minutes for the dust to settle and decided to go to his ex-girlfriend's room, opening the door slowly so as not to wake anyone up, noticing that everyone, including the nurse, was in her resting space. He approaches Bella's bed, noticing that she was breathing better because of the oxygen mask, looking at the IV dripping with medicine slowly and when Dylan takes a few steps to return to his room, the nurse wakes up: “Hello sir! Do you need anything?”
“No, I just came to see if everything was okay here. Go back to sleep.
“She’s fine.
“Okay. I’ll just take one more look at my son and I’ll be right out.”
The nurse agrees and leans back against the chair, but her eyes take in everything that happened. Dylan lightly touches Bella’s face and lets out a sigh of relief when he sees that his son’s mother is breathing better. Then he looks at Théo, who is sleeping peacefully, clinging to his mother’s body, smelling her scent. The man with a strong pulse and a reputation for being cruel whispers: “I’m so jealous, son. I still can’t forgive you, Bella.” Dylan leaves the room and the nurse stands up again, finally understanding that the mafia’s arch-enemy sons have fallen in love. “What an irony of fate.” The nurse says to herself, already standing up to check Bella’s interfering signals.
The days passed slowly for Theo in the unknown house and people he had always known as enemies of the family he was born in. He had to deal with this situation despite being so young, being in the Kicher family's house and the worst part was that Kicher blood ran through his veins. The boy barely left his room, but not because Alexander said he didn't want him hanging around the house, but because he himself didn't want to see anyone in that place, much less DK's girlfriend, who already felt like she owned everything, ordering the employees around. But the one who watched everything in silence was the family patriarch himself, so much so that he sent for Oliver, DK's right-hand man, because he realized that the boy also didn't like the presumptuous little woman.
"Did you send for me, powerful big boss?"
“Yes, I did. Oliver, I’ll be honest with you. I don’t like this Deanne at all, and it’s not because of Rebecca. There’s something about her that bothers me, but you know that talking to Dylan about this is on the table. So, I want you to set up cameras all over the mansion without anyone knowing, especially my son and his girlfriend. I also want to know if that jerk Dylan brought is really my grandson. Try to get some genetic material to do the DNA.”
“Okay! I’ll take care of everything. Do you need anything else?”
“Yes. Oliver, if anything happens to me, take care of Rebecca and Dylan for me.”
“Why are you saying this, Mr. Kicher?” Oliver finds Alexander’s attitude strange.
“Just tell me if I can trust you.”
“Of course I can.”
“Great! You’re dismissed.”
After Oliver left, Alexander had a coughing fit and when he took the tissue out of his mouth he realized it was covered in blood. He sighed his concern and went to the window that overlooked the garden, where he saw Théo and Dylan handing a soccer ball to the boy who accepted it with trepidation. However, Théo did not accept to play with his father, making DK sad, but since he had an appointment he did not insist. However, as soon as DK left, the boy put the ball on the grass and started kicking and running back and forth. Soon Jacob, who was passing by, started playing with the boy who dribbled the man while giving a smile that even infected Alexander's cold heart, who also smiled in a restrained way and soon he heard a shout of... Goal!
"It didn't count, you dribbled me without shame. I have my honor, you know?" Jacob mocked his own situation.
"You are a wooden leg, that's what it is." Théo mocked his father's subordinate.
"Hey! Where is the respect for elders? Jacob joins in the fun by breaking the ice with the boy, shaking his hand and introducing himself formally.
“It was good dribbling you, Jacob.” Théo smiles and looks up towards the house, sees Alexander, picks up his ball and walks away.
“Théo, I want my rematch.”
“Later. Now I’ve lost the will to play.”
Jacob looks in the direction Théo looked before, noticing the Boss coming out of the window and understanding the boy’s sudden change. However, Jacob wasn’t there for nothing, Oliver had given him the mission of collecting the sample for DNA, and he managed to get a few strands of hair, putting them in a transparent bag and keeping them in his pocket to give to Oliver later.
In the days that followed, Bella recovered more and more, within a week she no longer needed a respirator and in the following days her wounds and injuries also healed thanks to the care of nurse Emma.
“Thank you Emma, for taking such good care of me.”
“No need to thank me, I just did my job. Thank Mr. Kicher.”
“I don’t know if Mr. Alexander would let me get close.”
“I’m not talking about Kicher the father, but about his son. I don’t know what happened to you, but he still loves you.”
“Maybe! But I think he’ll forgive me and maybe the best thing I can do is let him be happy with whoever he chose.” Bella says with a sad voice and expression.
“Like I said, I don’t know what happened between you, but the hardest thing you did was overcome the hatred and rivalry of your families.”
“That’s the point. We didn’t get over it.”
“Anyway, my job is done and I have to go. Take care Mr. Bella and good luck.”
While Bella goes back to thinking about how she would get out of that house, Oliver meets Alexander.
“Mr. Kicher, I have the results of the DNA test you requested.” He hands the envelope to his boss, who takes it and immediately opens it:
“Thèo is indeed my grandson.”
