Chapter 85: Why do they underestimate me?

When she opened the door and found herself face to face with Isak Díaz, Bella felt a wave of overwhelming emotions. But fear and anguish stood out among them all. She knew exactly what Benjamin's former subordinate was capable of doing. His cold, calculating gaze seemed to pierce her like invisible blades.

"How did you find me?" Bella asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

"The right question is: how did those incompetents sent by Johnny before me not find you?" Isak replied, with an arrogant smile. "Apart from the fact that you changed address and surrounded yourself with useless security guards, it was easy. After you appeared in that magazine, all I had to do was watch your new hotel. I knew that sooner or later you would show up. I followed you for weeks and, honestly, I had several chances to kill you if I wanted to."

"What do you want?" Bella narrowed her eyes, her tone full of distrust.

"I want to show that I'm on your side."

"You? On my side?" Bella gave a short, bitter laugh. "Tell me another one, Isak. We both know you're only on your own side. The proof is that you betrayed my brother."

"Ugh, still on that subject?" Isak rolled his eyes. "Turn it around, my dear. You can't go back to the past. Get over it."

"You really are a son of a bitch."

"Let's get straight to the point. Are we going to negotiate or not?"

"Have you lost all sense of what's reasonable?"

"Simon, shoot him," Bella ordered, turning to the driver.

"Yeah, Simon, shoot me if you can," Isak taunted, walking into the apartment as if he owned the place.

"Sorry, Miss Hahn, but... I can't." Simon pointed the gun at Bella.

"Don't do this, Mr. Garcia! We can solve this another way!" Susan tried to intervene, it was voice full of urgency.

"My wife and son are in danger," Simon began, his voice shaking.

"Shhh... Shoot Bella. Now," Isak ordered, settling himself comfortably on the couch. Simon hesitated, feeling his hand tremble. "Are you serious? Do you want me to encourage you?" Isak laughed like a psychopath, taking out his cell phone and making a video call. "Show me the woman and the boy."

"Okay, boss," Isak's henchman said, turning the camera to show Simon's wife and son, tied up on the floor and crying in despair.

"No! I'll shoot!" Simon shouted, his voice desperate. The shot rang out, dry, but only grazed Bella's arm.

"Are you kidding me? What kind of horrible aim is that? And you still consider yourself a gangster?" Isak stood up, furious. Even injured, Bella remained calm. "Simon, you don't have to do this. Trust me." The driver turned the gun on Isak, who laughed disdainfully.

"Are you going to shoot me? If you do, your family will be dead. Come on, brave one, shoot me!"

While Isak was lost in his own arrogance and arrogance, he didn't notice Bella's subtle movements. With a discreet gesture, she signaled to Luke and Mackenzie, who positioned themselves behind him.

Then, as if everything was timed, Isak's cell phone rang, interrupting his speech. He answered, already irritated. "I told you not to call me, idiot! But since you did, take the needle-nose pliers and cut a piece of one of their nails."

On the other end of the line, a different voice answered: "Oops! I'm sorry, but that's not going to happen. Your two shitty henchmen are dead. Now give the cell phone to Bella."

Isak, with a crazy smile, handed the phone to Bella.

"Very well, Hunter," she said into the phone. "Make sure Mr. Garcia's wife and son are safe."

Isak narrowed his eyes, furious. “You think you’ve won, Miss Hahn? I have other collaborators who will come up and to finish everything.”
"Ahh, why do you guys always say the same thing and use the same tactics? The five guys who tried to surround my building? They must be at the police station by now. And the other three? Well, let's just say they've already been finished."

Furious, Isak tried to advance on Bella, but was held back by Luke and Mackenzie. She took a step forward, her posture firm and full of determination.

"I have no fear of you anymore, Isak Diaz. Did you think I would fall for your trick? Do you want to know what your biggest problem is, as well as Gavin's and all the others who tried to bring me down? You always underestimated me. You forgot that I had the best teacher and that I reached the top on my own merit."

"Are you going to torture me like you did with Gavin?"

"No. I want to get rid of you soon. cover his vision." Bella turned around, leaving Isak in the hands of her men who put a black bag over his head, while the strength in her eyes was the last thing he would see before being taken away.

On top of a building that was not Bella's, the three men loyal to her took the bag off Isak's head, who tried to free himself, but at the point of four weapons, including one long-range gun since Mackenzie also had Isak at gunpoint, Bella approached in her high heels and a warm overcoat because it was snowing in New York that night.

"You can let him go. He knows this is the end of the line."

"Why did you bring me here? So I wouldn't get my blood dirty in your house?"

Bella smiled and replied coldly, "For a professional torturer, you're pretty dumb. Think about it."

"Going to throw me from up here?"

"No. You're going to throw yourself off." You will feel at least a little of what my brother felt and you will be buried with dishonor.”

“You crazy bitch.”

“What if I don’t want to?”

“You will receive 4 shots right in your face.”

“I regret not being on the winning side of this war.” Isak walks to the edge of the building, climbing a step, feeling the cutting wind on his face.

“Don’t be lament, I would never accept you on my team.”

“And that was the end of another one of Johnny’s subordinates.” Luke had to say the obvious hearing some screams echo from people passing by on the street

“Let’s go home and rest, ultimately.”

Back in his apartment, Simon was devastated. He felt guilty for what he did as soon as Bella walks through the door the Driver/security guard kneels down, “Forgive me Miss Hahn. I lost control and felt I had no other choice.”

“It’s going to be okay, Simon. I know what it’s like to make a mistake thinking it’s right. (She looks at Dylan), Just don’t make the same mistake again. Your family is safe, let them do a general sweep to see if we are safe and then I will ask Hunter to take you to them.”

“Thank you Miss Hahn!”

The atmosphere that night became light and friendly again.
