Chapter 52: The fun is just beginning
DK leans over his father's bed crying his sadness over the sudden loss, Rebecca, Bella, Théo and Oliver hear the multiparameter vital signs monitor beeping and two nurses run towards the room. Upon entering, they come across the sad scene. Rebecca hugs DK and the two mourns them together, while Bella remains calm and serious, since in the last months she has had to deal with death among other goodbyes and betrayals, including her mother Jimena, to whom she always thought about how she should be. However, her thoughts that were far away had to return to the present because something unexpected happened. Théo was crying.
"Son, you barely knew Mr. Kicher and yet you cry for him?"
"Mommy, he was also my grandfather, wasn't he?"
"Yes. It's okay my love." Bella hugs her son while looking at Dylan's pain, remembering her own when she lost her father and then her brother and also remembering the promise that would end Johnny.
DK takes a deep breath, controlling his emotions and ordering Rebecca to control herself too. The blonde looks at him. “You can’t ask me to do that. He’s my godfather, who’s lying there in that bed, lifeless.”
“And before he was your godfather, he was my father. But if you want to cry and scandal, feel free. I’ll arrange the wake and notify my father’s subordinates.” DK orders Oliver to notify everyone about the death of the leader of the Kicher family and piece to come to say goodbye.
DK looks at Bella and Théo, who had stopped crying. The brunette gives her son’s father a long hug.
“I’m so sorry.” She whispers.
“My biggest regret is that I wasn’t with him during the last few months he got sick. It all happened so fast that I can’t believe he’s gone.”
“Don’t feel sorry or blame yourself. Your father made a choice.Look on the bright side and see that he needed you to keep things going.
“He knew that if he told you, you wouldn’t want to do anything else, just take care of him, and that’s why he assigned me to this task and then Oliver helped too. It’s not your fault.” Rebecca adds.
“It’s Alexander Kicher’s way of doing it. Anyway, Bella, you should take Théo to bed and rest too.”
The day soon dawned, but Bella and Théo only woke up when the nurses came to prepare Th boy for the tests the doctor had mentioned the day before. Later, with the tests in hand, the doctor entered the room and told him the good news:
“Mrs. Hahn, Théo is fine and can be discharged.”
“Thank you, Doctor. By the way, here’s your lab coat.”
“Do you happen to have looked in pockets?”
“No. Should I have looked? I’m not that curious, and I also thought your attitude was a bit much.”
“Left given my cell phone number, but after what you just told me, I’m going to retreat to my insignificance.”
“You don’t have to do that, Dr. Carter. I’m flattered, but I’m not thinking about any kind of relationship right now. I need to focus on reclaiming my family’s leadership.”
“I appreciate your honesty, but if you ever have a free day and want to have a coffee, give me a call.” The doctor smiles, charmingly handing a piece of paper to Bella, who smiles and takes the paper. Just then, Dylan enters the hospital room.
“Bella, has Théo been discharged? What’s going on here?” Dylan looks at the doctor suspiciously
“Nothing major. And yes, Théo has been discharged and is in the bathroom now.”
“Hmm! Dr. Carter, aren’t you ashamed of hitting on a woman who is married and still has a lover?”
“Dylan!”
“What? I’m defending you.”
“I can defend myself.”
“If it’s worth anything, I was politely dismissed. And if you’ll excuse me, I need to sign Théo’s discharge and transcribe some pain and healing medications.” The doctor leaves in a hurry
“So, what time will your father’s wake be?”
“At 3:00 p.m. and the burial at 5:00 p.m. But are you thinking about going?”
“Yes. But it's better not to. There will be many of your father's subordinates who hate my family, and if they recognize me, it won't be good for me, much less for you.”
“That's true. I'm glad you still think of me.”
“When everything is over, go home so we can identify the infiltrators.”
At night, Dylan arrives with Oliver to find Bella, but it's the subordinate who does the job because DK wasn't in a good condition. Oliver arrives with a folder in his hands and inside it the files of every man or woman who was hired in the last month. Bella takes a good look at the names and photos. The names were different, but with the photos she was able to recognize 3 of Anthony's former subordinates who turned traitors.
“I found them… Tommy, Miller, and lastly, this is William, who Miserable, betrayed my brother at the first opportunity he had.”
“Do you by any chance want to participate in their execution?”
Bella looks at the tall, muscular man. “Can I really?”
“Of course!”
“I have an idea to catch them.”
“Me too. First I’ll monitor them closely, but without them noticing. And finally I’ll catch each one of them and put them in one place, I just haven’t decided how to finish them.
“Gather the three and then leave it to me.
And in the back of one of the establishments that belonged to the Kicher family, Johnny’s three infiltrators were properly tied up and gagged, completely surrendered because they knew they wouldn’t survive, but to the surprise of the three, Bella appears majestic in front of them with DK and Oliver by her side.
“Could you remove the tape from William’s mouth, please? I think he wants to tell me something.”
Dylan allows it and Oliver removes the tape and, as soon as he can speak:
“Mrs. Hahn! It’s been a long time. I’m honored to be you to take my life.”
“Honored you say? Ha! You’re a shameless bastard, I made a point of coming here to finish you off, you son of a bitch.” Bella stands very close to the traitor who falls silent, closing his eyes, waiting for his end. Then Bella brings the gun that Oliver had lent her to William's left temple and fires, then shoots the other two as well.
“It's all over.” Oliver looks at DK.
“On the contrary, now the real fun is about to begin.”
“Bella is right. But for now, let's go home.”
On the north side of Miami at the Hahn mansion, Johnny was agitated, wondering why William hadn't called yet to tell him about the merchandise they stole from Alexander Kicher.
“Taylor, call Will. I can't stand this wait any longer.”
Johnny's loyal subordinate obeys him by calling William and when the cell phone starts ringing, he passes it on to his boss:
“I was just waiting for your call, Johnny Iverson.”
“Dylan Kicher!”
