Chapter 28: I'm going back to Miami!
Deanne force the bar with DK, which works out very well, because he feels moved and in a way he sees in that deceitful woman an opportunity to forget once and for all his love for Bella Hahn.
“So, what do you think of my proposal?”
“I can’t deny that it’s very tempting, I have nothing keeping me here. But I’m worried about the fact that you’re introducing me as your girlfriend to your father.” Deanne continues to cast her web and DK gets even more involved.
“As for the powerful Mr. Kicher, you can rest assured that I know how to deal with him.”
“Still, I want to think about it a little. It’s a difficult decision for me, going to live in an unknown place with a guy I barely know.”
“I think I’m losing my irresistible charm. “
Deanne approaches the mobster, giving him a hot kiss, clinging to his athletic body and then looking into his eyes and says:
“That’s not what this is about, I’m just asking for a little time to get myself together and as for your charm, you certainly haven’t lost anything. You’re the man every woman dreams of having.”
DK’s expression becomes sad for a moment when he remembers the last time he saw Bella, when he almost died at the hands of his beloved.
“You wouldn’t try to kill me, would you?” The young mobster looks at Deanne, who tries to understand the reason for the strange question.
“And why would I do that to someone I like?” She frowns.
“Because that’s how it is in the mafia. You know, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.”
Deanne observes DK’s expression a little longer, and several things come to mind, but they all involve the loss of someone he loved. Unable to contain her curiosity, she decides to ask:
“Have you lost someone you love?”
“In a way, yes.”
“What does that mean?”
“It’s complicated, I’ll explain it to you better later, but right now what you need to know is that this woman I loved tried to kill me and only failed because I was wearing a bulletproof vest. I had just returned from a dangerous mission. I went home and she was waiting for me. She accused me of killing her father and simply shot me without hesitation.” DK couldn’t hide the sadness on his face.
“If you still like this woman, why do you want me to move in with you and ask me to be your girlfriend?”
“It might be hard for you, but I really want to take care of you in any way I can. Trust me.”
At the same time that DK and Deanne were having a complicated conversation, Oliver kept trying to listen to everything and relaying it to Jacob.
“Now she’s giving up. No woman, except crazy Rebeca, would want a man who still loves another woman, and he hasn’t even gotten to the part where that woman is the beautiful Bella Hahn. Don't worry, Oliver, she won't have the courage to risk it." Jacob says with conviction.
“I don’t think so. She’ll go all the way, she’ll make it sweet, but in the end Miss Deanne Webster will accept DK’s proposal. After all, he’s Dylan Kicher, the son of one of the biggest mobsters in this country.”
“Are you saying that Miss Deanne is a gold digger and doesn’t really like the Boss?”
“She likes the idea of what he can provide for her. But my concern is, how can DK not see that?”
“A broken heart can be easily deceived, he’ll find out in time, it won’t do any good for either of us to say anything, he won’t listen. For now, we’ll just observe and protect him in secret.”
“I agree!” Oliver ends the subject, turning his attention back to Deanne and DK, who was still waiting in anticipation for an answer when his cell phone vibrates in his pants pocket.
“Speak, Mr. Fisher!”
“Why didn’t you call me to tell me what was going on over there?” Alexander speaks critically.
“When you gave me this task, it seemed like you wanted to get rid of me, but it was good for me to breathe new air and meet new people.” DK winks at Deanne and she smiles
“That’s great. But you’re still so frivolous, Dylan.”
“Sorry, big boss. I’ll tell you that I solved the problem in San Diego and today I’ll be going to Sacramento to solve another one and depending on the situation, in two days I’ll be in Long Beach and thus complete the mission you gave me.”
“I can’t believe those scoundrels had the courage to betray me.” Alexander gets angry
“Don’t worry, Dad. They’ll have the same fate as Kevin Webster.” DK says nonchalantly.
“Understood. But changing the subject, do you know who had the audacity to break into my house yesterday? Anthony Hahn’s daughter.”
“What? And what did she want?” DK looks nervous
“She asked me to help her rescue son. She said that as a grandfather I had an obligation.”
“And what did you do?”
“What do you think? I kicked that crazy bitch out of here. She begged me, can you believe it? She must be desperate after what happened. Who would have thought that the powerful Hahn family would end up like this.” Alexander scoffs, making DK even more nervous.
“Dad, could you tell me what happened this week that I was away?”
“What for? It’s none of your business. Focus on finishing your mission.” Alexander is about to hang up the phone when his son calls him:
“Wait! Send other subordinates to the cities of Sacramento and Long Beach, because I’m going back to Miami now.” DK is firm and everyone who was close or a little far away, but heard the conversation is surprised.
“And why do you want to go back so urgently?” Suddenly a thought comes to Alexander’s mind.
“Don’t tell me that you…”
“Dad, I’m not sure what’s going on, but you should have helped Bella, because the boy she asked for help to rescue is my son.”
“Dylan Kicher, you bastard!”
