Chapter 79: Miracle!

In the midst of the chaos, with suitcases scattered and air masks hanging, Susan slowly opened her eyes. Still disoriented, she tried to stabilize herself as she looked around. A knot of despair tightened her heart when she realized that everyone seemed unconscious. Holding back tears, she got loose her seat belt, determined to look for survivors.

When she tried to get up, a sharp pain in her leg made her realize that she was injured. Blood was pouring out, but she ignored the pain and continued, approaching Oliver, who was with his head fallen forward.

"Oliver?" Susan called, touching his shoulder. When he didn't react, she placed two fingers near his nose to feel his breathing.

Suddenly, Oliver woke up abruptly, grabbing her hand tightly.

"Ouch! You're a brute! But... I'm glad you're alive."

"The plane crashed?" Oliver asked, his voice hoarse.

"Unfortunately, yes. Are you okay? Do you feel anything strange in your body?"

"My head and neck hurt, but I think I'm okay."

"Good. So please help me see if the others are... you know."

Oliver's expression changed instantly. "Oh my God... DK!"

Without a second thought, he unbuckled his seatbelt and ran to the seat where Dylan was, still hugging Theo. Their still bodies made Oliver's heart freeze. With trepidation, he touched Dylan's shoulder, calling softly,

"DK... DK, wake up, please. You can't die here."

When Dylan didn't react, Oliver began shaking him, his voice choked with emotion. On the third attempt, Dylan choked, sucking in air as if he had come out of underwater. Theo also opened his eyes soon after, still confused.

"Boss! What a relief. You're alive." Oliver discreetly wiped away a tear that was running down his face.

Susan, who was watching the scene from afar, muttered, shaking her head:

"Ugh, what an idiot."

Theo, now more awake, looked at his father and asked in a shaky voice: "What happened?"

Dylan, still panting, tried to explain patiently, but the boy soon began to scream:

"Mommy!? Mommy, where are you?"

The call echoed through throughout the passenger area. Susan, upon hearing it, ran to Bella, who was slumped against the window, her head tilted to the side and blood running down her forehead. Panic settled in Susan's eyes when she realized that Bella seemed not to be breathing.

"Theo, wait..." Susan tried to hold him, but the boy had already run to his mother, desperately grabbing her.

"Mommy! Wake up, please! Don't leave me!"

Theo screamed, tears streaming down his face.

At that moment, Carter woke up, turning his face to the side. He saw Theo clinging to Bella and the state of his girlfriend.

"Is she dead?" Oliver muttered, as if he were talking to himself.

But Dylan heard. His high-pitched voice echoed through the passenger area. "Shut up if you don't have anything useful to say? Bella can't die."

Carter, even though he was in pain from the impact, forced himself to focus on what needed to be done. He approached Theo, who was clinging to his mother's motionless body, and tried to speak to the boy.

"Theo, I need you to let me examine your mother," Carter said, his voice calm but firm.

The boy was reluctant, giving the doctor a suspicious look. Before he could protest, Dylan intervened.

"Son, listen to Dr. Carter. Let him take care of your mother."

Visibly shaken, Theo reluctantly let go of Bella, stepping back as he watched Carter's every move. The doctor then looked around and called for help:

"Look for a white suitcase with a red cross. There should be first aid in there."

While the others searched frantically, Carter tried to feel Bella's pulse, but the impact had shattered his watch. Without hesitation, he laid Bella down in the space Dylan and Oliver had cleared, leaning in to listen for her heartbeat, his ear pressed against her chest.

Carter picked up his stethoscope and began examining Bella. “Her heart is beating, but her breathing is weak,” he informed her as he continued to check her condition. He found cuts on her right arm and above her temple, and began to treat the wounds quickly, trying to coax Bella to wake up.

“Call her by name,” Carter suggested. “Saying something familiar might help.”

Dylan leaned closer, his voice full with emotion.

“Hey, brunette... do you remember the day we met? It was a sunny Sunday. I was at the beach, chilling, until my skateboard slipped and ended up on the road. You slammed on the brakes and got out of the car, cursing at me: "I could have crashed the car, you idiot!’”

He laughed softly, even with the tension in the air. "But I also remember how you stared at me. I had just gotten out of the water, wet, shirtless... Did you fall in love with me there? Because I fell in love with you the moment our eyes met. So please, don't leave us here. Théo and I need you. Wake up, brunette."

As if the words had the power to bring her back, Bella opened her eyes suddenly, taking a deep breath. "Dylan!?"

"Hi, brunette," he replied with a relieved smile, trying to get closer.

Before she could get any touch her, Carter interrupted, already starting to examine her. "Bella, are you feeling pain anywhere?"

"My arm and my head," she replied weakly.

"Apparently, no bones were broken, but I'll check," Carter said, as he lightly pressed different parts of her body.

Meanwhile, Dylan and Oliver went to the front of the plane, trying to assess the situation. The first few seats were completely destroyed, and the flight attendant was slumped forward. Her air mask had not been activated.

"Dr. Carter, we need you here," Dylan shouted.

"Go," Bella said. "I'm fine. There must be someone who needs you more right now."

Theo and Susan approached Bella. The boy hugged his mother, tears streaming down his face.

"Mommy, I was so scared."

"Me too," Susan confessed, to everyone's surprise. The female chief, moved, called them for a group hug.

As Carter examined the flight attendant, he noticed that her vital signs were extremely weak. He tried to revive her, but was unsuccessful. She did not resist. At that moment, Oliver returned from the cockpit with a somber expression.

"The pilot and co-pilot are dead," he announced coldly.

"What now? What are we going to do?" Bella asked, the tone of her voice revealing growing desperation.

Dylan was blunt: "Let's find out where we are and try to survive. Pray that a rescue team comes soon." Dylan and Oliver volunteered to explore the place. Carter wanted to accompany them, but Dylan stopped him.

"You stay. If something happens to us, the women and children will need you." Susan and Bella glared at Dylan, who responded with an ironic smile.

"I know, I know. You're more likely to protect him than the other way around. But could you pretend to be a little fragile? We men need that." Before leaving, Bella shouted: "Be careful! Don't take any risks and come back before dark." Her words bothered Carter, who tried to hide it. When he looked at Théo, he saw that the boy was smiling at of corner, his arms crossed with a satisfied look.

Meanwhile, in Miami... Rebecca was glued to the news. At 8:41 p.m., the news she had been waiting for finally arrived:

***"Attention! The Aviation Agency has confirmed that businesswoman Bella Hahn's private plane is missing. Everything indicates that the aircraft crashed while flying over the Atlantic Ocean, bound for the Bahamas. On board were Bella Hahn, her son Théo Hahn, her secretary Susan Colle, doctor Carter Kwon, and the crew. The search will begin tomorrow, but experts say that it is unlikely that there are any survivors."***

Rebecca celebrated with loud, mocking laughter. Her cell phone rang shortly after.

"Hi, Johnny. To what do I owe the honor?"

"Did you see the news?" he asked.

"Of course! My plan worked perfectly."

"And you still had doubts?"

Rebecca laughed. "Do you want more good news? Dylan and Oliver were also on the plane."

"That calls for a celebration," Johnny replied.

"I'm sending you the location. Come quickly. I'll put the champagne on ice."

A few minutes later, Johnny arrived at the apartment. Rebecca pulled him inside, and the two began to kiss warmly, celebrating their victory in an intense and special way.
