Chapter 96: A new character appears, ally or enemy?
Snow fell silently over New York City as Rebecca stepped out of a taxi in front of a luxurious Manhattan hotel. With her impeccably polished leather suitcase in one hand and a fur-lined wool coat in the other, she walked into the hotel’s brightly lit lobby. The reception area was worthy of a palace, with crystal chandeliers and a white marble floor that reflected the warm lights.
“Welcome to the Belmont Hotel, ma’am. How may I help you?” the clerk said with an impeccably practiced smile. “Rebecca Hill. I have a reservation in the penthouse,” she replied confidently, handing over her passport. Minutes later, Rebecca was in her spacious, luxurious suite. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a breathtaking view of snow-covered Central Park. After quickly unpacking her bags, she placed an order for room service: “Bring me the finest champagne you have. And don’t skimp on the side dishes.”
Soon, the bottle arrived with a platter of cheeses and fruit. Rebecca poured herself a glass and walked to the window. As she watched the falling snow contrast with the vibrant city lights, her face showed a mix of determination and doubt.
“New York… Let’s see what you have to offer,” she muttered. She needed to plan a way to approach Théo, Son of DK and Bella's, without raising suspicion and deceiving his enemy's subordinates it wouldn't be easy. But for now, she decided she deserved a little fun.
After a quick rest, she got up and chose an elegant outfit: a black velvet dress that molded her curves, with silver details. Her shoes combined style and comfort, and a long coat completed the look.
That night, the temperature was almost freezing, but Rebecca didn’t seem to mind as she got into a taxi.
“Take me to the best nightclub in town,” she told the driver, who smiled and started the car.
A short while later, she arrived at a nightclub lit by neon lights. The name “Elysium” shone on the facade. Upon entering, she was greeted by a sophisticated atmosphere, with a mix of electronic music and modern jazz that made it impossible to stay still. Rebecca looked around, analyzing the minimalist decor and the diverse crowd. A smile appeared on her lips.
“It’s not Miami, but I can have fun,” she said to herself before heading to the dance floor. The music was infectious, and she began to dance, drawing attention wherever she went. It didn’t take long for curious and malicious glances to turn to her, but Rebecca was more interested in enjoying the night than in socializing. After a while, she went to the bar and ordered: “A martini, please.” As she savored the drink, a tall, elegant man approached. His brown hair was perfectly combed, and he wore a suit that exuded sophistication.
“Are you new here?” he asked, his voice deep and polished. Rebecca ignored him, savoring her martini.
“Waiter, another martini for the beautiful woman sitting next to me,” he said with a confident smile. Rebecca finally glared at him, irritated.
“Please leave me alone. I don’t want to hurt you. I’m here to have fun tonight, and you’re getting in the way. And for your information, I don’t accept drinks from strangers.” The man smiled, unfazed. “Andrew Frazier. I’m the owner of this club. Nice to meet you, miss?” The blonde rolled her eyes, but eventually relented. “Rebecca Hill. But you can just call me Rebecca.” “Nice name,” he said, tilting his head.
“Where are you from?”
“Miami,” he replied dryly, but his expression changed, as if that detail had sparked something in his mind.
“Miami… That’s interesting. And what brought you to New York? Are you just here to have fun?” he asked, studying her with a curious glint in his eyes. Rebecca hesitated, but decided to answer. Maybe he could be of some use. “Not exactly. I'm here on a mission.”
Andrew made an expression that piqued his curiosity even further. “Mission? What kind of mission?”
She smiled, but it was a smile tinged with bitterness. “I need to capture something precious from my enemies. And get revenge.” Andrew watched her for a moment before speaking, his tone mixing curiosity with something deeper.
“Revenge... A dangerous but fascinating motive. Perhaps I can help.” Rebecca narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “And why would you help me?”
He shrugged, the smile returning to his face. “Let’s just say I like a challenge too. Besides, someone like you doesn’t go unnoticed. You have a unique presence, Rebecca. And something tells me we are destined to collaborate.”
She laughed, but it wasn’t an amused laugh. “Destined, huh? What nonsense, you don’t look like a romantic.” Andrew leaned closer, and his tone became more serious.
“I don’t make promises lightly, Rebecca. If you accept my help, I want something in return.”
She looked at him, interested. “And what would that be?” “Information. I have some hidden business in Miami and some scores to settle. If you can get what you need, you can help me get something valuable as well.” Rebecca considered his words. It was a risk, but she knew she needed allies. And Andrew seemed to be more than just a pretty face.
“Okay, Andrew. Let’s see where this takes us. But I warn you now, I trust no one.” He smiled again, raising his glass in a toast. “Trust is overrated. But revenge… That’s always worth it.”
Rebecca raised her martini and clinked it with it. “Revenge is all I have left.”
As the two clinked glasses, a silent pact was formed. Rebecca had found an unlikely ally, and the night in New York was just beginning.
