Chapter 54: Bella and her new beginning.
At the New York airport, Bella and Théo arrive and Susan is already waiting for them at the arrivals gate. The boy hugs the woman practically. She helped to create Bella's loyal subordinate gives her an untraceable cell phone and new documents at the airport, not only for her, but for Théo as well, since the originals had been lost in the failed kidnapping and murder attempt that Johnny tried against them. Bella looks around and recognizes some familiar faces that were part of her private security group. She feels better and a little more protected.
“This will be our new beginning, son.” Bella takes Théo's hand and walks out of the airport, getting into the car where the driver/security guard was waiting.
“Welcome back. Miss Hahn.”
“Thank you, Mr. Garcia! It's always good to be safely.”
On the way from the airport to the new apartment, Bella and Susan talk about the progress of the companies, asking if their lawyers had made any progress regarding the company she shared with her husband, and the subordinate replies that they had bought some significant shares and that they would soon be able to become partners and be part of the main team. However, Bella asks for caution because she understands that Johnny is shrewd and may be distrust.
“So good that we achieved the other businesses. How are they doing?”
“We were so good that we managed to buy the plane you mentioned before all this mess. By the way, my condolences for your losses.” Susan lowers her head a little towards her boss.
“Yes, my father and brother are gone abruptly, unexpectedly and why not say, inhumanely. But whoever caused all this mess will pay. I insisted on torturing him very slowly and then killing him. However, I have to regain leadership of the family first.”
“I know, but what about Mrs. Jimena?”
“What do you mean, Susan? You know she was the one who helped Johnny take care of everything, and it was because of her that Benjamin killed himself. And if I survived this far, it wasn't thanks to her.” Bella replied, full of sorrow.
“Mom, so I'll never see Grandma again?” Theo looks at his your mother with a sad expression.
“Unfortunately not, son.” The boy looks out the window again. “Susan, we're not going to have this kind of conversation in front of Theo anymore, do you understand?”
“Yes, ma'am.”
A few minutes later, they were parking at the building that belonged to Bella, and the penthouse is where her beautiful and luxurious apartment is located. It turns out that Bella always valued her independence and always worked not only for the Hahn family, but for herself and her son as well, thus maintaining businesses that almost no one in the family knew about, except for Anthony, who found out and didn't like it at first, but over time he ended up accepting his daughter's intelligence and independence. In addition, she still had the inheritance from her father that had not yet been revealed, but it is known that there are many assets and far beyond those that Johnny took care of. Arriving at the apartment, Theo is amazed:
“Wow! This apartment is really beautiful.”
“Did you like it? So why don’t you go up those stairs and see your room, take a shower, are you feeling anything?”
“Yes.”
Bella approaches her son, touching his face to see if he has a fever, and then asks: “Does your head hurt? Do the stitches burn? My God! But the doctor gave you the all-clear. Tell me what you’re feeling, Theo.” Bella is distressed.
“Mom, first of all, calm down. I’m fine. I don’t feel any pain or burning. What I’m feeling is happiness because we’re here, out of sight of my p.., I mean Johnny.” Théo lowers his head and Bella gives him a hug.
“It’s okay, son. I know he was the one by your side that made you grow up until two months ago. Your head must be a mess. I’m so sorry. But be patient, everything will be okay. Do you trust me?”
“Of course, Mom.”
“Great! Then go upstairs, see your room, take a shower and change your clothes so you can rest.”
After Théo goes upstairs, Bella and Suzan talk again, adjusting the things that need to be organized. For example, the boss asked to gather all her allies in a strategic place, the restaurant/bar she had in Brooklyn, setting a date and time. She also asks about the hotel she was negotiating before returning to Miami. Susan reveals whe couldn't do it because had concurrence.
“Who’s competing?”
“Dylan Kicher.”
Bella is quiet for a few seconds and then with a slight smile on her lips, “He finally leads the Kicher family, too bad he waited for his father to die to do so.”
“Did something happen in Miami that I should know about?”
“So many things happened in Miami, I’ll summarize for you. I was rescued along with Théo by Dylan and imagine my surprise when I saw him alive in front of me. He took me to his house where I faced not only Alexander Kicher, who didn’t give me much trouble, but also Dylan’s spineless girlfriend. The woman had the audacity to try to kill my Théo, but she was the one who ended up being set on fire. Before that, I became a maid for the Kicher family to have money to return to New York, which, thinking about it, I suffered so much humiliation for nothing, because Dylan gave me his private plane and his crew, who despite treating me very well, looked at me sideways the whole time, the flight attendants, I’m telling you. The good thing was that Théo met his grandfather and made up with his father.”
“Wow! What an interesting story, but why didn’t you just ask to borrow a cell phone and call me?
“As far as I knew, you had been shot and were in a coma in the hospital. Until Théo got a cell phone from his father and one day I couldn’t stand that damn bitch of a girlfriend of Dylan’s anymore and decided to take a chance, and you answered, luckily for me.”
“So you and DK made up?”
“Yes and no. We came to an agreement, but on an occasion when we both want the same thing like this hotel, I won’t give in, you search for the owner and schedule a meeting.”
“Okay! But I need to talk about something you won’t like.”
“If that’s the case, why don’t you spare me this subject? I’m tired. Could we talk later?”
“Ahh!” Susan exhales
“Okay! Just tell me.”
“Your mother was sold to a brothel.”
“ Bella closed her eyes, clenching her lips and taking a deep breath. Despite knowing Johnny's cruelty and lack of character, she never imagined that she would go this far with Jimena. And despite the betrayal and disappointment she felt, Jimena was still her mother, the one who gave her life.
“Find out where she is, and send Mackenzie and Miller to rescue her. Buy her a house somewhere she can live peacefully and give her $5 million in cash.”
“Yes ma’am. I knew you wouldn’t leave your mother destitute.”
“Let’s not talk about this anymore.” Bella glares at Susan furiously.
“Sorry!”
Finally, Bella goes upstairs to her new room, locks herself in and stays there for the rest of the day.
