Route 1: THE DREAM 2.0

It's already been two months since I first set foot in this town and everything has been so well so far. In the past two months all I did was to make myself known to the high society by attending various balls and tea parties hosted by the wives of counts, dukes and barons. Actually, I did not accept invitations that easy. After the ball that the Duke of this town organized for me, a lot of letters came by; letters that are inviting me for a tea party with the other noble ladies, others are letters that states that I am welcome to visit their town anytime.

I actually ignored those letters for about one and a half week. First reason is that I just want the nobles to desire my attention more than they already are. If they want to gain my attention more, then gathering information about them would be much easier, not to mention that they are surely going to lower their guard down. And that is actually happening at the moment. The nobles' desire to have a conversation with me and wants to befriend me are increasing everyday. Although, I really despise the nobles who are trying to gain my attention, I have no other choice but to put up with it, because I too am getting a lot of valuable and first hand information.

During the first of visiting towns and attending tea parties and balls organized by a certain household, I was actually surprised that some of the nobility are backstabbing their supposed to be friends; saying rude things and intentionally destroying the other noble's reputation are just two of the things that I've experienced during the first week of my visitation, and at the moment, that backstabbing grew even more harsh.

The assholes are really trying so hard to ruin one another and they are doing that because they money or financial assistance to put it into a nice way. And I am the only person in town, who has an unknown background yet has a lot of assets. A Lady like me is really rare for them so they are trying their best to grab a hold of my neck and be of use to them in one way or another.

Another thing is that there are a few of the nobles who invited me to their town ensured that I got to meet their sons that have the same age as me. I cannot deny the fact that their sons are have really the looks, however those looks are nonsense to me, simply because I already know what they are planning.

They are going to arrange their sons to me, make me fall in love and once we are already married then technically all my assets will belong to my husband and of course, he would give it to his parents. In other words, they are treating me like an investment and if I have no use anymore then they will immediately dispose me.

I know their plan too well and it's so cliche already. I've read quite a few books in my past life and almost fifty percent of the books I've read has a plot that the rich female lead will be used by her husband and all of her assets will be gone because her husband stole it etc.

The second reason why I already accepted invitations is that I simply want to make my name known throughout the Empire, not only my name but also my appearance. And as of yesterday, seventy-percent of the population of the Empire are already aware of my appearance and my name. Of course there are a lot of rumors circulating around towns; half are good, positive rumors and the other half are of course, negative and harsh rumors.

Positive rumors includes that I am a generous person, I am financially stable and that I am about to buy a title etc. On the other hand, negative rumors is all about my identity. The people are simply doubting me if I am really not a practitioner of the forbidden magic, once again it is because of the color of my hair of course this doubt caused people to feel fear and uneasiness towards me.

Not that I care that much because all of those things are just baseless rumors, which the Duke of this town failed to clear. I guess he is using these rumors to prevent me from buying a title. He is making me see the cruelty of the people's words and thoughts. I guess he is thinking that I may not buy a title when I knew that people around here does not like me and that it will be quite a struggle to me when I finally got my title because people will never follow my words and will only make them rebel against me.

Well, I agree with his opinion, however there will no problem if he is going to clear up those rumors. In other words he is clearly preventing me from gaining power and having a say in politics. What is the reason for this? Of course the first reason is that I am a woman and just like in my past life, people believe that women are inferior to men, and men dominate women in many things such as in work, in politics, in economics, in the family tree, and especially in the societal hierarchy.

I heave a deep sigh as I continue writing a reply addressed to Duke Franceschi. He sent me a letter a while ago saying that there is indeed something wrong with the cave that he asked me to visit two months ago; that Cain discovered a powerful monster inside that cave. He also mentioned that although Cain was not able to exactly see the monster, he was able to feel its presence and not to mention the high volume of miasma around the place.

The reply I am writing only states that if that's the case then what would be our next step? Of course, I don't really give a damn of what his next step will be and whether or not it will be successful or a complete failure. It is because I already expect Cain to slay that dragon any time; I actually have the feeling that it will be not later than this week, and if that's the case then it would be beneficial to me because I am now able to proceed to the next step of my plan, and that is to look for a guild to file an application to become an adventurer.

"Mila, Cain is headed towards the forest where the dragon lurks, I think he is planning to slay the dragon already" - Aesir said through telepathy which instantly made me put down the pen I am holding and I immediately stand up from my seat.

Well, I guess the reply could wait. I need to actually see how he will fight that strong dragon and especially want to see how his powers awaken as he fight.

I guess I am going to proceed with the next plan sooner than I expect it to happen. Oh well- that's actually a good thing. Now... I better hurry to that forest...
