Last Supper
*Jospeh*
I sat there talking with all my territory leaders. Everyone in an uproar over these damn Italians. I hope we can take them all out. I thought about Sandra, and how she is going to want to go, but she isn't. I am going to have a guard take her around the city and then out to the country house. It is almost time for Thanksgiving and as soon as all this is over, I will have a nice dinner with my family. After the phone call, I waited for reports from all the men. Ken, or so they call him, is working on the drones. I told him we needed them ready today. He said they were capable of working today, they just needed to be charged up. He is making sure they all get there. Jay is supposed to talk to security. Something he is used to. I was hoping it would take some of the pressure off of him for now. Henry and Sandra are making dinner for all of us to share before we leave. Zeus is now working on recruits for battle. I told him to ask any of the men, no matter the rank. I am done playing Tommasso's games. I won't play along anymore. This ends today. Jackson walked in but didn't speak. "Do you have something for me?" I was getting very impatient. "I do. I have talked to some of my old gang. They said Italians are hanging all around the city. A few have offered to back the brotherhood." He still wouldn't look at me while he talked. I walked by him and told our security to leave the room. I took out my comm and signaled for him to remove him. I didn't want Sandra to hear, and I wasn't sure if she was wearing hers. "We have a problem, don't we?" I asked walking back from the door. Jackson looked up at me this time. "No, boss, we do not." He seemed confused. "My queen, it seems you have been paying her close attention." I stepped closer to him. "Sunshine is a lovely woman Smoke, I won't deny that, but I won't cross that line. I know what you heard earlier, outside, may have worried you, but I promise you I haven't been that man in a very long time." His words didn't comfort me. He stepped closer to me, looking directly into my eyes. "Smoke, I love my place here. Yes, Sunshine is something special, you are one blessed man. With that said, I wouldn't make a move on her. For one, I wouldn't lose this family for anything, now, not since I finally feel like I am coming into the fold more, and second boss, honestly, that woman is in love with you." He reached out his hand to shake mine. I Still wasn't one hundred percent convinced, but I did feel a little better than before. "She is my great white, my angel in disguise, my new reason to stay standing. She is also past present and future. She was brought back to me for a purpose. When all this is over, I plan to make her my wife. I have even thought about children. I have never thought about that before. So, when I tell you I will destroy anything that tries to take that away from me, I mean it." Jackson nodded at my words as if he understood. His hand was still there, awkwardly waiting for me to shake it, so I did. I will give him a chance to prove himself, if he does try anything with her, he will leave the brotherhood in a box.
I heard a small knock on the door and walked to open it. "Jackson, let the other men you are connected with know that anyone who wants to show up in our defense will be repaid heavily." He nodded and walked out the door. I heard him say, "Ma'am" as he walked towards the front room. At that moment, I knew it was Sandra. "Hello beautiful," I greeted her as she walked in, but her face was different. Frustrated. "What was that about?" She plopped down in a chair in front of my desk. "He is finding men from other organizations willing to help us." I said running my fingers through my hair to take the focus off of what I wasn't saying. It didn't work. "I could feel the tension through the door boss." Her words seemed sharp. "What's wrong darlin?" I asked softly walking in front of her. She looked up at me with those grey eyes and I almost melted. "I told him that you are mine." The grey eyes rolled. "Joseph, he knows that. Yes, he is a bit flirty, but he is harmless. While we are on the subject *darlin*, I don't like putting on a show without knowing about it." Her words cut me; I knew she meant my trick with the comms earlier. " I am sorry. I let my jealousy get the best of me, baby. You just mean so damn much to me Sandra, you truly are my Sunshine." I leaned down and kissed her gently terrified that she wouldn't kiss me back. She did, instantly deepening the kiss. I think she was reassuring me, through the kiss, letting me know that she loved me. I heard an obvious cough in my ear as I kissed her. Someone had entered the room. I looked up to Zues with a stupid smile on his face. "Yes?" I asked smiling back at him. "Sorry to interrupt kids, but we got business." I congratulated him on his comedic talents and walked towards my desk. "Pan is sending some of his men, and Blaze. Hector said they are still healing, but he will see who is up for it soon. All the others are sending men as well. We will have an army here by dusk." He walked to the chair beside Sandra and sat down. "Hello Sand, sorry I interrupted your make out session." She punched his arm hard but ended up hurting her own hand. "Damn Z, are you made of steel?" she asked, giggling at him. "I am. We all are, not just super Jay out there." He chuckled as well. As always, she could soften them, it was amazing to see. I couldn't wait to make her my wife. "How is our family dinner coming?" I asked, seeing Henry walk in the door. "Probably about 30 more minutes bro." He plopped down in another chair. They all talked amongst themselves about the chilly while I looked over the plan again on my computer.
When the food was done, we all went to the table. Jay had finished getting all the security ready and in order for the houses, and Ken said his drones were ready to fly. He will be in a van off the beating path. He will be guarded as well. Everyone was talking about what we could do with a drone. "Can we not just put a pistol on the drone, drive it to the meeting, shoot dude in the head, and then be done with it." Henry had a plan. Ken started to laugh before correcting him, "You don't drive a drone, brother, you fly one." His words made me laugh. Sandra spotted Jay texting a few times at the table. This wasn't like him, so she spoke up, "What was that pretty woman's name?" Jay looked over at her and I could swear I saw him blush. "Celine," Jackson spoke up getting an instant dirty look from Jay. I chuckled along with the rest of the table. I had my hand on Sandra. I knew when it was time to go to the meeting, she would be furious with me. Ever since the peak, I promised her I wouldn't do this again. This is different, this is worse. She can't fight these grown ass men. I don't know how to tell her, but I won't let her go. Even if she walks out the door, I would rather her walk away than be put in danger. She looked over at me, noticing something was wrong. "When are we to be at this meeting?" Her question caused a lot of wide eyes at the table. I was hoping someone else would speak up. "Sunshine, you aren't going." It was Jay. He looked very serious now. "Thats not up to you." She said in a low tone, before looking up at me. "You can't." The words came out weakly. She instantly got up and left the table. She stomped off towards our room. "Sunshine wait." I got up slowly and noticed others standing with me. "This isn't just on you, boss, we will all talk to her." I let out a big sigh of relief, I didn't want to lose her, maybe with all of us she will understand. When we got to the door, she opened it and looked at all of us. Probably listening through her comm. "I'm listening" she left the door open and walked away from it. "This is different from the peak Sis; this could be a full out war." Jay started walking towards her. "I cannot do this unless I know you are somewhere safe." She turned and looked at him with tears streaming down her cheeks. It ripped me in two, seeing her like that. I stood forward, walked towards her and knelt down. "After this is over, when we can go home, Will you marry me?"
