POV- Flea Doe
“So, we noticed that you didn’t stick around for dinner. So, we decided to bring some up, with our plates.” Stuart said.
“I’m not hungry. Thank you though. That’s very nice of you, Stuart.”
“We all know that’s not true.” Kallen started as he sat down on the floor next to me.
“That you’re just hiding away from all the questions that others here would end up asking. That and probably not wanting to be seen vomiting up dinner. Also, how did you know I'm Stuart? Most people, even Mom and Dad confuse us. We look and sometimes act too much alike?”
“I just do, I can stop, if you’d like. I didn’t mean to. If I'm not allowed it’s alright, I understand. Um... when are you going to punish me earlier in the dining room?” Just asking to get it over with.
“No, it’s fine. And kind of cool. As for the punishment for what? You ARE NOT in trouble. Now or ever. Kai-Lea you are safe.”
“When I setting up in the dining room, you were mad.”
“Oh... no. I wasn’t angry with you. I was angry because I thought someone told you to do what you were doing. And, you don’t have to do that kind of stuff. Kai-Lea, you’re going to be Luna. And while some Luna’s still participate in helping out their packs in the day-to-day stuff. You don’t have to here if you choose not to. Our Mom doesn’t always help. On occasion she does. But not always and again, forever, you are NOT nor ever IN trouble.” Stuart said.
“Now back to why we are up here with you. Here just try please.” Kallen said, handing me a strange bowl of food.
None that looked like the stuff that was cooked for the rest of the pack which made me feel worse than I already did. I decided they were right, and I needed to try it like they were asking. They were trying with me, I think anyway.
Not sure of everything going on anymore. As back at Black Moon things were simple, I knew my place and expectations. Here I'm told that I'm to be the Luna while I know who that is for a pack, I'm just not understanding why they'd want me for it. Here I'm not given any expectations. I took a deep breath and decided to open myself up to them as much as I could.
“Ok. I will try.” I said, taking the container from him and opening it. I noticed that it was small pieces of fruit and crackers. There wasn’t anything bigger than my thumb. I tried eating the weird red fruit with little seeds all over it. It didn’t smell all that great. And it tasted even worse. I took a small bite and started to feel weird. Like my whole body was on fire, itchy, turning red, and it was getting harder and harder to breathe.
“Little Mate, what is it?” they said in a worried tone.
I shook my head, not sure of what was happening. Kallen grabbed me up and ran me downstairs with Stuart hot on our heels. “DAD! MOM!”
“WHAT?”
“WHAT’S WRONG?”
“We don’t know. She started eating then this.” Stuart said handing over my container.
“Get her to the hospital wing NOW!” They took me off with them to the hospital.
“DOC!” they all screamed.
“Lay her down. What happened?”
“She was eating and then this.”
“She ate a strawberry.”
“Ok first this is an allergic reaction. She is going into anaphylactic shock. She’s going to be fine. I’ve got her.” The Doctor then injected me with something that helped me. And a few minutes later I was out cold.
POV - Kallen
“Is she going to be, ok?”
“Yes, she’s doing just fine. It was just an allergic reaction. So, what was she doing?”
“She took the container of food. She started with a small bit of a strawberry. And then it felt like she was on fire. Like she was struggling to breathe. She was turning red, even.”
“NO more strawberries.” Stuart said, “Mom. Dad.”
“We’re having all strawberries removed from the house. Everything strawberry is gone. No need to worry about this happening again. And she is to carry EpiPens with her wherever she goes.” Dad said.
“Yes, Sir. And we’re going to carry extras just in case.” Mom stated.
“Good. Now take her upstairs to her room for the rest of the night. In the morning, we will get her eating something small. Everyone still has things that have to be done tomorrow.” Dr. Ayonna instructed.
“Yes, Ma’am.” So, we got up and moved her upstairs to her room. We laid next to her like we did for her nap. We stayed there watching over Little Mate while she slept until we dozed off ourselves. She was breathing evenly finally, and her color was returning to normal. But her temperature still hadn’t come down. According to the Doctor, it'll be down some time around two in the morning. But that ‘Little one’ as she liked to call her is just fine. But just because we are werewolves doesn’t mean that we don’t have allergies to things like humans do. And apparently, ‘Little one’ is allergic to strawberries.
“What happened?” She asked groggily, after moving around waking us immediately.
“You had an allergic reaction to the strawberries. Don’t worry, you're fine. You will never have to worry about it again.” I noticed it was 3:55am. Her fever had finally broke which was a good thing.
“I’m sorry.” she told us as she started to fall back to sleep. “Don’t be. Rest. We have an even longer day ahead.” We told her then fell back asleep.
We got up the next day and went shopping as instructed. Unfortunately, she was constantly surrounded by a dozen people including Gustava, Rachellea, and us. If she couldn’t go somewhere with us, she was with Gustava, Rachellea, or someone else. We shopped for the entire day, she freaked out a few times, but calmed down as we ate, steering clear of strawberry flavored items. We spent more money today on her than we’d spent in months, outside of Gussie and Chellea clothes shopping. It was a nice change of pace. She tried multiple times to stop us from spending so much on her. Even attempted to try and buy from racks that are on sell.
She was broken in ways that we weren’t seeing coming. But it only made us more determined to make her better, the person is one day meant to be.
“What did they do to her?” Wade asked.
“Everything. Beat on her, starved her. Hurt her in ways that would get someone here killed, if that tells you anything.”
“Damn.”
“EEEKKK!!!” Gussie, Chellea, Emma, Felicity, and Kaitlyn screeched, causing Kai-Lea to freak out. “I’m sorry, sorry. Please. Please.” She kept repeating that.
“Hey, you five go deal. We have this.”
“Relax. Breathe. In and out, just like that.” Stuart said.
“Tobais and Ronnie, have the girls in another store, they got excited about something.” Wade said, “Hey, don’t let those goofs freak you out. They are just shopaholics and crazy fruit bats.”
She chuckled at his statement. Nodding at him, they’d eventually be like brother/sister relationship, so we couldn’t get jealous. Even though it took him all of ten seconds to calm her down for tenth time today. It was good. ‘That should be us comforting her.’ My wolf growled.
‘Let it go. She is more like a little sister to him. You know, so hush. And they are going to need that kind of relationship.’
‘Doesn’t mean, I still don’t think that we should be doing that for her.’ I rolled my eyes at my wolf shoving him to the back of my mind, where he would hopefully calm down some, maybe not completely, but some.
