Once the door clicked shut, Kallen and I exchanged a glance, shifting on the bed to face our mate. Kai-Lea sat there, clearly trying not to look like she was in trouble. She suddenly blurted out, “We could have sex,” her voice hopeful, clearly trying to distract us from the situation.
I raised an eyebrow. “What other abilities are you hiding from us, Kai-Lea?” My voice was calm, but the undertone was unmistakable.
‘I think she should learn a lesson,’ I linked Kallen, who smirked in response. His eyebrows arched as he moved closer to her, the tension in the room thickening. My hand slid down her side, fingers grazing the skin just between her thighs, slow and teasing. We needed answers, and I was going to get them.
“Just that,” she stammered. “I wasn’t sure until it happened a moment ago.”
Kallen shook his head. “See, we don’t think that’s the whole story, little mate.”

Kai-Lea bit her bottom lip, a tell we knew all too well—it meant she was lying.

“Fine!” She burst out, surrendering. “Okay, yes, I’ve discovered a few other abilities since waking up from the attack. And…since going into the caves.”
“Well, what are they?” Kallen pressed, his hand lingering on her hip now, steady but firm.
“One is the ability to move rocks and trees. The first time, I thought it was a gust of wind, but later… well, I threw a tree at a building that was practically falling apart anyway. Also, I know that so far is just trees and rocks. There was a scream I did during the attack—that wasn’t a fluke. At first I thought I just dealing with the shock of being attacked by Milton. However, I screamed so loud I shook the cabin. Milton noticed; that’s how I got away.”
My hand paused at her words, realizing that we may already know another. “Wait, the electrical burns you had on your hands—that wasn’t from tech equipment, was it? That was you?”
She nodded reluctantly. “Yeah, it was me. I got angry, and Kaitlyn’s energy made it worse. I couldn’t get that tech to work, so I lashed out. I didn’t even know I could magnetize metal until I touched it.”
She stopped, clearly hesitating to reveal more.
“And?” Kallen urged.
Her gaze darted between us before she spoke again. “Since being in the caves, I discovered I can bend others’ energy. I did it on Kaitlyn, so she wouldn’t ruin my night.”
“KAI-LEA!” Kallen snapped.
Her eyes widened, but she shrugged. “What? I didn’t do anything wrong! I didn’t even know it was going to work until it did.”
