POV – Kai-Lea
“What's happening?” I asked.
“His Alpha title is returning to him.” My grandmother Cerena told us. A few moments later my father was back moving around. “Looks like you'll be meeting the rest of your family, little one.”
“I can't wait.” I told them with excitement and happiness. My parents actually were with me, I’m alive, happy, healthy, fully mated to my mates. Nothing was going to ever take this away from me again.
“I'm so proud of you. You're so strong and brave.”
“It's all thanks to my mates and this part of my family.” I said out loud for the first time. “About time.” Mom said, coming over to me and to hug me. “It's true. I'm stubborn.”
“You get that from both your father and myself. It can sometimes cause you to forget to admit somethings.”
We eventually headed back inside where my mother talked to my grandmother and her sisters. My father and dad talked to each other. While I looked at everyone with true happiness in my heart, something that as a small child I'd never thought I'd feel. 'Thank you for everything that you've done to keep us alive. You mean more to me than my own life.'
'I feel the same. Nor do I blame you for anything that happened. It’s now time for me to tell you my name sweetheart.' she paused. I guessed it would give more suspense and make it more special. ‘Asena.’
“Asena. That’s my wolf’s name.” I told everyone. “So special the original she-wolf. She was the first of our kind. Legend has it that she found a young man in the middle of a battlefield. And moved him to her den, where she turned him into a werewolf to allow him to heal. It’s said that the young man was her mate and that she even in wolf form saw that he’d eventually go on to do great things in the world for her and our people. It’s said that as proof she was the first of our kind that only her bloodline can turn us back to our human forms even after decades of being a wolf and lost.” Grandpa as he insists on going by said. “It’s also said that her bloodline can also give us a new wolf if they deem the recipient worthy of a new wolf and/or have lost theirs under horrid conditions.”
She pushed forward and as always I let her. “Actually, I am the only one gifted with that power. The others of my bloodline are capable of many other gifts. But only once every four hundred years am I reborn and able to use my gifts through the human I am given. And he was my mate that’s why I helped him. I couldn’t lose him as I was with child at the time. After I healed him, and our daughter was born did we start changing others into our kind. As once he was changed he too held that ability. After a while we stopped making others and just let our numbers grow on their own. We were the first pack and as such we were the first Luna and Alpha of our kind. Kai-Lea is an exact copy of the first human form. While Kallen and Stuart are exact copies of my first mate's human form. I am not sure as to how this has happened, but I do know that it does not bode well for us. As there is another that was there during that time, a witch, while she used to be a good witch, a kind witch she became very dark at the loss of her mate. And while I do not doubt that he too has been reborn I do know that she has never been reconnected with him. As Mothers’ decree for her using her abilities in such a dark way over the loss. While Mother cannot control us, she has hopes that we use who and what we are for greater not for the worse.”
“What’s this witch’s name?” my grandmother asked.
“Viseldrei she was a sweetheart. She was my best friend. Before she lost her mate.”
“Drei, I always thought that was short for something. But she hasn’t been dark for over a hundred years. She has been making penance by taking the pain from others as the council sees fit as her daughter finally found a way inside her thoughts again. Nor were we ever told what happened for her to be given that punishment.”
“Yes, mother has told me that she was finally reached again. But unfortunately, I am the one who can connect her to her mate once more. And only threw Mothers blessing will I do such a thing.” and with that Asena pulled back and went to wherever she goes within my mind. “See you are very special.” Kallen said, pulling me onto his lap.
I giggled. I thought about how this could never get any better. “Looks like we, my darling mate, have a pack to reassemble.” my father said, breaking me from my happiness. “Yes, but we don’t have to be in a hurry. As we both know your brother already knows where you and I are.” my mother scolded him.
I had a feeling she thought he was trying to rush off. And if he was I understood he and my mother are the rightful Alpha and Luna of their pack. Which meant they had a lot to catch up on. This saddened me for a moment, but the more I thought about it the more I realized that eventually they’d have to go back. And either take over what they once knew or let my uncle keep his position.
“So how many Uncles and Aunts do I have? How many cousins? I already know I’m an only child.” I asked.
