POV – Kai-Lea
“Actually, there are a total of sixteen packs with that name all under one Alpha. They are gifted creatures being directly connected to the Goddess has its perks, I guess. He can travel between packs the way that we can be summoned or appear out of nowhere.” Carmella further explained. “They are still the largest. It's just not widely known anymore. The councils and Royal packs of the world agreed to this arrangement for the safety of the pack after the attack Nineteen and half years ago.”
“This puts you a year older than us, Kai-Lea.” Stuart said. Which made me remember the Koi fish.
I smiled brightly and giggled at that thought. As I was connected to that silly looking little fish. “What is it?” Kallen asked.
“The Koi fish at Auntie’s place, the ones that share your birthday. There's a female in there with them. She is connected to me. She was born the same day as me.”
“Isn’t that fish that Auntie won’t name.”
“It is and she told me that once Kai-Lea woke she was going to be the one asked to name her. As she has a lotus flower in her pattern, and she thought it only apropos since Kai-Lea was the one to notice the lotus flower in her scales.”
“I think I'm going to go with Kai-Koi.” I told her. “I love it. I will tell her what you thought of it.”
“What were my parents like?” I tried not to ask why they didn’t just live and let me die. “Your mother was the goofiest person growing up. She was never serious about much. In college she made it known that she was going to take every class that she could. Complete book worm. Never failed a class in her life. Not that she ever had to actually study, which made your uncles and aunties so jealous. But your mom was the best big sister I could ever have asked for. Your father was the kindest man ever to meet your mother. She was stubborn as hell. It took them almost two months to accept each other and another two years to mate and have her Luna ceremony.” Roxanne told us.
“Why?” I asked.
“She had heard things about the women that your father had been with. And wasn’t looking towards being his next person when he was bored. She made him work for their bond. It didn’t help that half those rumors were false and started by one of the few former girlfriends he had in his last year of high school.” Titana said. Giving us that insight about my father.
“Wow. I had to deal with someone from their middle school days. I don’t want to know what it would be like had it been from their high school days. Sadly, had I met them after high school they probably wouldn’t even have wanted me. Or probably dead. Black Moon under the Taylors did a number on me.”
“Nestor and Milton Taylor?” my grandmother Cerena asked rather angrily.
“Yeah.” I said. “Not that would have happened.” they said in unison. “I swear to the Goddess if they weren’t dead already I'd kill them myself.”
“You may actually get your chance with Milton as it turns out. He had a witch protect his life with some kind of spell. And because I was brought back, so was he.”
“WHAT?!!!!!” everyone growled.
“Yeah, um the Moon Goddess showed me.” I answered, realizing that I had not even told my mates this yet. As they sat on either side of me, I felt and knew they were angry with me. Only because this had to deal with my safety. “When were you going to say something about this?” they asked in unison.
“Um… I… I wasn’t. Milton’s my issue not yours–” I tried to say.
“Not even, those marks on your neck say otherwise, there little mate.” Stewart said as he kept my face with his hands and was being gentle. Kallen moved to be next to Stuart as they then said, “You are not alone. You will never be alone. You belong to us as we belong to you. Little Luna you are our everything. Never think otherwise.” I nodded my head and leaned into him. It was nice to feel so connected to them. I also needed to let go of the feeling that they will leave me. They aren’t going anywhere. “I know. I’m sorry. But yes unfortunately Milton is still alive. And we will deal with him together.”
“Yes, we will.”
“We need to start heading outside. The sun is almost in position.” my grandmother said. We got up and walked outside. As we did I saw my cousin and my aunts creating a strange design on the ground with chalk. They then moved and placed candles in six different spots. “Now Kai-Lea, stand in the middle. Stuart over here. Kallen directly on the other side. Kai-Lea whatever you do, don't let go of their hands.” I shook my head.
“It's time.” My grandmother said as my aunts and cousin got in between the twins and surrounded me.
As they started to hum I felt a powerful wave push into me from all sides. “Now focus on your parents.” So, I did. I thought of my mother standing next to me. And my father hugging me. As I held onto those images I felt that power push even harder. It felt like it was trying to rip through me while crushing me all at the same time. They continued to hum at least that's what I thought they were doing, however the more I thought of my parents the more I heard them chanting in a very low tone. As the sun rose over my head I felt my body being jerked every which way, but I never let go of my mates. As a gold and silver cloud started to form over around me I felt warmth and happiness like nothing I'd ever felt. As I looked around I saw my mother's body starting to form as my father's arms began to wrap around us. As they were fully in the circle with us. They slowly stopped the spell.
“We're done.” My grandmother Cerena said.
“Mom. Thank you.” My mother said, turning to face her. “Anytime my child. But you have some catching up to do.”
“That we sure do.” My father said as dropped down. “What's happening?” I asked.
