POV - Kallen
“Alright I will deal with you two later. Right now, Doctor, I need you to leave. The three of us are going to have to make her shift. And in order to do that we have to use our combined Alpha command.”
“Yes, Sir.” She said, Once she was gone Stuart and I moved to stand next to our Father. He nodded and we then in unison, ordered,
“SHIFT!”
As her body started shifting into her wolf form, you could hear her whimpering from the pain. She is gorgeous, her fur is so soft and unlike anything I’d ever seen, golden and bright that shimmered with enough shine that made her look like a giant ball of light. Her wolf on all fours was as tall as our wolves. It broke our heart to hear her in pain but seeing her scared out of her mind like that was worse. Our wolves were giving us hell, for Little Mate being in this pain in the first place. As her pain started to subside, she started to calm down, and eventually started to shift back. She was naked as she did, so we covered her with a blanket from the supply they keep in the medical wing.
“When she wakes, we will be having a serious conversation about this issue. Until then stay with her.” He ordered us.
He was angry she still wasn’t shifting very often even now that she was about to be in college with us. That she’s been here with us for going on a little over two years and she still doesn’t feel safe enough to shift whenever she wants. She is the next Luna Queen of Royal Green Mountain Pack and five hundred other packs in our region. He is angry that she doesn’t feel safe enough to do the same basic thing our people do on a daily basis.
“Yes, Sir.” We said trying to worry about what happened to freak her out this bad.
It wasn’t like we hadn’t talked about it with her. She just felt that as a Lotus wolf it's her job to stay hidden to protect those around her. Once we told her other stories about different Lotus wolves, that we’d heard about she felt like she owed the pack a sense of safety. Especially since we’d been attacked twice, over her. And that meant she and her wolf felt that it wasn’t necessary to shift but once a month and only in private. She doesn’t even shift in front of the pack during training, while we knew it would eventually lead to issues if there was an attack bad enough to reach her and the others.
Stuart sat on one side of her bed, while I sat on the other. ‘We are going to get creamed by Dad for this.’ He told me.
‘I know. We have it coming. Dad’s right. She should feel safe enough to do whatever she likes. Including shift whenever she wants to.’ I responded. We stayed like this until she stirred awake the next day. We’d had Wade pick up our assignments.
“Hey, there. Are you feeling any better?”
“No, I have a massive headache. What happened?” she answered with a dry mouth.
Stuart got up to get her some water. As he handed her the cup, she sat up in the bed pulling the blanket with her.
“You woke up screaming. And just kept repeating, ‘Just a bad dream’ over and over again. We didn’t know what had happened? But Dad and the two of us made you shift in your sleep.”
“So that happened.” She says like she was hoping it was all a bad dream. She looked scared and in pain.
“What made you scream?”
“I was dreaming about being kidnapped by Milton’s cousin… Amber something I think her name is… she was able to grab me with the help of a witch I think the next thing I knew was being in a room with him and I was n… he. Uhn-hn.” She said.
“Little mate, that will NEVER happen.” Kallen and I said in unison as our Dad came into the room.
“Good, you're awake.” He said, “So why aren’t you shifting?” he asked her.
She looked down at her lap. “It’s not safe for me to shift. It’s too dangerous for everyone else.”
“Young Lady, let me and those two; morons I apparently raised, worry about what is and isn’t safe for the pack. You shifting is definitely safe anytime you and your wolf want. In fact, with you and your wolf coming into your gifts you’re going to need to shift more often to help with the transition. This means that you are to shift as least once a day for an hour or two.”
“But I’m a Lotus wolf. And we tend to bring danger to those around us. I don’t want anyone to get hurt over us.” She answered him looking down about being in trouble. In all fairness she wasn’t really in trouble Dad is just extremely worried about her that’s all. And even if she was this was the first time since moving here.
“Am I clear?” he said getting her to tell him she understood what he was saying.
“Yes, Dad.”
“I understand where you are coming from, I do really. But trust me when I say that my sons and I have a handle on the safety for the pack, we have it. It is after all OUR jobs. As WE are the Alphas. I’m current Alpha King of Royal Green Mountain and they are next in line for that title. It is our job to be concerned with safety. So, I need you to worry when you and your wolf will be shifting, and how often. Not just once or twice a month. Kai-Lea, you are safe. And as one of my children, it’s my job to make sure you are shifting as often as you’d like without fear. Young lady?” He said. “And you’re not in trouble unless that restriction continues. I’m just disappointed that you felt you couldn’t come to me and tell me that you still didn’t feel safe here.”
“Of course, Dad. I do feel safe. I just don’t want to jeopardize the safety of the pack. I’ve done that twice already just by being here.” She said leaning into his hug.
“Neither attack was, is or could be on you. Kai-Lea, do you really want to know how often our pack is attacked? At least once a week. Some are attack us for the rumor about you. Others just because they think they can. Please, never ever let us being attacked stop you from shifting, Kai-Lea.”
“So, what I saw wasn’t a bad dream. It was the future. Wasn’t it?” she asked, scared out of her mind.
“Probably. What happened in the dream?” he answered her.
