I know Kallen and Kai-Lea's cousin Carmella saw my guilt. But I wasn’t willing to risk her getting hurt because I couldn’t, no can’t protect her. And I know he understood, but he still wanted her as our mate. This just proved that we aren’t meant to be hers. After the doctor had Kai-Lea lay down and stayed under supervision in the hospital, I decided to take a walk while she slept as Kallen chose to stay by her side. Even though we had had our differences, Kallen and I were always on the same page, until now, about our mate. I’d love nothing more than to be with her and be hers. But feeling her heart stop, almost destroyed me. And I can’t go through that again.
‘Well, this is awkward. As she has yet to show you and your brother what I showed her. However, since you need this more than he does, let me help you.’ the Moon Goddess said, stopping me in my tracks. I looked at her with pain and wondered why she’d let me feel her death like that. As I was about to ask I then felt this surge go through me and I was standing in a small house. I saw my little mate and someone else. She looked like she was talking to Milton from Silver Crescent pack, then I was moved to be in her view and saw what she was seeing. As there was a spell causing her to think she was looking at me and my brother. This angered me, I was then moved back and finally given sound for everything I was seeing.
‘I don’t care about where it happens anymore. It's going to be special because it’s with the two of you.’ she told him.
I tried to look as he tricked her into mating with him. ‘Can I mark you Stuart?’
‘Only if I can mark you back.’
‘Yes. I want to bear both your and Kallen’s marks until my death and then some.’ she told him as she then bit down on him. She started to shake and convulse. Then her eyes opened, as they turned black you could see that her wolf was the only soul still inside. As he had just killed her, her Lycan and her other soul.
“NOOOO!” I growled. “That will not happen!”
‘It will if you reject her. Her wolf losing Kai-Lea sends her into darkness. And with as powerful as she is meant to be this will only cause your world and the humans to come down. As there won’t be anyone born to stop her for three hundred years or more. I cannot see when, but I know that when it does happen, you and your brother are long dead. You cannot let the guilt of her decisions cloud your feelings of love and hope with her. And as much as I would like to say this is a onetime thing for her it is not. She and the two of you have many battles ahead. But know that her fate is to live a very long life before growing old with the two of you.’ she told me as she disappeared.
I took off running back to our mate. As I came she held Kallen’s face with both hands and her eyes were closed, as were his. After a moment or two, growling came from Kallen, but they didn’t pull away from each other. I simply just stood there in awe of my mate. She was so strong. Thinking about the moment her heart stopped, I felt like a fool. But, as the Goddess reminded me, I can’t let what happened nor what’s to come stop me from being with our beautifully strong mate. “We can’t reject her.” I told him as they both came out of her hold, “I am so sorry. That I was even thinking of doing so. I just felt like a failure to you when your heart stopped. I couldn’t figure out why the Moon Goddess would let me, and you experience something like that. But I won’t let my guilt cloud how I feel about you. You are my mate Kai-Lea. And NOTHING is changing that.” I told her, holding her face in my hands. She smiled so brightly that it made me smile right back at her.
“I know Stuart. I love you and I know you love me. I don’t care where we mate with each other. But I want to finish what I started back at the cabin. I want my real first time to be with the two of you no one else.”
“We want that too. But I'm afraid we have to wait until you are released from the hospital tomorrow. As these rooms aren’t sound proofed.”
“I don’t care who hears us.”
“Neither do I.” Kallen said.
“As long as you are sure?”
“There are very few things in life that I have ever been this sure of. Yes. I want both of you. As I want to be marked before the sunrises.”
“Yes, Ma’am.” I said kissing her. She kissed me back aggressively, and I loved everything about it. I bit her lip asking for entry and she gladly obliged. As I moved my tongue into her mouth she moaned, bringing me to full attention, uncomfortably so, as I was in jeans from the hunt to find the weapon used on my mate during her attack. As I made my way down her neck where my mark would go before the sun came up as she asked. I felt my brother removing her hospital gown. Exposing her to us in nothing more than her panties. Not that she was shying away from us. More like she was embarrassed as she was covered in scars. Her being a Lotus Wolf only helped her heal faster than average, nothing more. “One of these days you will tell us about these. But tonight, my brother and I are going to give you a night you will never forget.” I told her.
