POV – Stuart
Falling asleep was easier then I’d have thought possible. But the moment we did, Kallen, Kai-Lea and I were all mentally moved to another realm. Like the caves were just the beginning it.
“Welcome.” Said a woman who looked like the Moon Goddess, who had helped me reconnect to Kai-Lea. To prevent something horrible from ever taking place.
“Where are we?” Kallen asked.
“It’s the caves. The real power is a border to your realm, isn’t?” Kai-Lea asked.
“It is my darling. And you are right. But I’m not the one who brought you here.” She answered.
“I am.” Said a God with equal power to our own Goddess.
“You’re God of the vampires aren’t you?”
“Yes, and like a distant uncle to you dear child.” He smiled or maybe sneered. I couldn’t tell which. “One of mine, well one of our children is mated to a friend of yours. One of which is being seen for betraying you all. This could not be further from the truth.”
“I think I know who he is referring to. It’s… just that I’ve felt that it’s never been my business to say.” Kai-Lea said looking as if she knew full well who he was talking about.
“Who are you talking about?”
“I believe you him, Reggie.”
“What about Reggie? Kai-Lea what do you know?”
“Reggie’s gay, Kallen. That’s why he’s become secretive. He, I don’t think is out, if you know what I mean.”
“That explains everything, actually. I mean I have seen him looking at you like Kai-Lea, does.” I said, causing her to growl. The Moon Goddess and Vampire God rolled their eyes.
“Sorry. I know I shouldn’t be jealous. But Kallen and Stuart are mine. As I am theirs.” She said coming to stand in between us.
“Why wouldn’t he just tell me? Have been acting like I’m homophobic or something?” Kallen asked.
“No. But as I’ve previously stated you are accusing him of betraying you and yours. Which isn’t the case. He is simply lost. And has plans to reject his mate because of it.” The Vampire God said.
Causing Kallen to drop his knees. Feeling the weight of knowing he was behind the reason that Reggie was going to lose something Kallen was able to get the full embrace of. This tore into Kallen.
“Kallen couldn’t have known that his behavior was just him being shy, hiding who he loves. So, why blame Kallen.” Kai-Lea demanded of her uncle he stated.
“I’m not. I’m telling Kallen to stop blaming himself and to open his eyes. Kallen, your first instinct about Reggie was right. He is hiding something from you but has never been something that can or would ever bring harm to Kai-Lea or your pack.” The Vampire God said.
“Thank you, we will help him. He won’t be able to use us – me not knowing he is gay as a reason to reject his fated mate. No matter who they turn out to be unless they give him cause.” Kallen said standing to his feet.
“That is all I ask, Nephew-in-law.” The Vampire God chuckled.
“Wha - ” I went to ask his name when I found all three of us fully awake on the bed of hotel.
“So that just happened.” Kai-Lea said sitting up on her elbows, “I have vampire God as an Uncle. Yay. I think.” I laughed at her confusion on how to feel about that. Looking at Kallen I was able to see that he was having Wade and Tobias get Reggie in here with us. He was going to have to answer to Kallen why he felt the need to hide who he really his to my brother.
The door opened and in came Reggie, Tobias and Wade.
“Reggie, I’m going to ask you something and I want a real answer.” Kallen told him with the full weight of his Alpha King authority in his voice.
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Are you gay?”
“I… Yes.” He started to seem confused only to admit in the same breath. “Why not just tell us? I mean it would have been a hell of a lot better than us thinking you to be a traitor. Or cause you to think that rejecting your mate was alright with us. Reggie, man we’ve been since birth almost. So, what have I done to have you think that I would be angry or pissed or anything other than happy to know that you’re a, gay and b, have found your mate in a half-wolf, half-vampire from a nearby pack. I mean, please explain. I’m… at lose I thought you were betraying the pack for other reasons.”
“Sorry. But I honestly thought that you would have done more than be pissed. My dad told that there has never a gay ranked member of Royal Green Mountain. And while he is happy for me, he fears that… that you’d banish or kill me out right. He has never spoken to your parents about their thoughts on same-sex issues. And wasn’t expecting this conversation to go all that well. I figured before I could get banished I’d simply ask for a transfer to his pack. He is the Delta’s son just like me, only he has an older brother who will be taking the title in year. But I wasn’t going to explain that when I asked for the transfer, I just was going to say that my mate needs me over there and hope you’d let me go.”
“You, Reginald Mycroft Watts are complete and utter idiot. Even if our parents had issues with same-sex mates, they’d never use that as an excuse to remove your title let alone banish you. Nor would we. You’re an idiot.”
“I cannot disagree. Having now told you. I feel like an idiot.”
Kai-Lea busted out laughing. “I’m sorry. But you’re not very good at hiding it any ways. So, why hide it.”
“What do you mean?” he asked.
“I’ve caught you more than once looking at Kallen in a way that is not dissimilar to my own look at him or Stuart.” She said.
“You don’t have to worry about that anymore. I have my own mate, if he’ll still have me. Also, I thought no one noticed me doing that.” He said.
“I can say that we never noticed it.” Wade said with Tobias just shaking his head in agreement.
“That’s not that big of a stretch. Unless its actual pack safety concern neither of you really ever pay attention to anything you can’t sleep with. Which I have it on good authority that you two need to stop that before you lose your mates.” Kai-Lea said. As she seen them all as protective big brothers of hers. And hated that they slept around. Granted they never slept with anyone from the pack. But it still wasn’t very happy with them having their moments of couch quailing.
