Chapter 19

Lilly
After the doctors examine me I have so many questions. I don’t even know where to start. So I start with the most pressing one. “ Why pain?” Damn my voice is so raspy I can’t stand it. Ryans answers “ You want to know why you are in pain?” I nod. “ You have some pretty serious injuries you're recovering from.” I still don’t understand. “ Injuries?” I question. I’m greeted with silence. “ Lilly, what is the last thing you remember?” Ryans asks. I think about it for a minute. Everything is kinda fuzzy. I tell them what I do know. “ Leaving the club today. Tank follow. I yell.” Minutes tick by with no one answering me. I start to panic. Why aren’t they telling me anything? “ What happened? How injured? Why?” I’m gasping for air. I feel like my heart is beating out of my chest. Monitors are going crazy.

Someone else grabs my other hand. “ Who?” I pant out. “ It’s Lug. You need to calm down. We will answer what we can but you have to calm down. Listen to me. We got you.” Him and Viper squeeze my hand to let me know they are there. But I remember , they turned their back on me. “ No. Not for me. You abandoned me. Threw me away. Said I lied. I never lied.” I try to pull my hand away but I’m too weak. “ Lilly, I’m so sorry. But that isn’t what happened. I promise. And we will talk about it but you need to calm down first. We will deal with the doctors first then we'll talk. I’m right here like I have always been. Please just take slow deep breaths.” If I want answers I know I need to calm down. I listen to Lug Nut. I took the deepest breaths I could to calm myself. I have to get them to talk to me. Clearly the only way that is going to happen is if I do what they say.

Once I was calm, Ryans said “ Ok Lilly. If you promise to stay calm I will tell you what we know.” I nod. Then he proceeds to tell me that I was hit by a car on purpose in a kidnapping attempt. He tells me all about my injuries which explains my pain. “ Voice?” “ Your throat is a little sore from the breathing tube. It should be better in a day or two.” says Ryans. “ Eyes?” “ I believe that is from the swelling you had in your brain. But like I said we have more answers after the tests.” Dr. Mason says. I sit back and absorb everything they have told me. I don’t even know how to process it. “ I know it is a lot to take in. We are going to do everything in our power to help you. But I want to assure you that you are doing so much better than when you came in days ago.” Ryans says. Days? I know I didn’t hear that right.

“ Days? How many?” No answer. I’m getting really tired of this shit. “ How many?” I say louder. It is Viper who finally answers “ Lilly, you have been unconscious for eleven days.” days? Eleven days of my life are gone because some lunatic wanted to kidnap me. “ Eleven days!” I don’t even try to hold back the tears this time. Arms wrap around me and pull me close. I don’t even try to talk. “ Go ahead and cry. Let it out.” Lug Nut says. I stopped crying after a few minutes but stayed curled up with Lug Nut. I pulled away and finally asked the question that needed to be asked. “ Get them?” “ No, Lilly. We didn’t, the cowards took off. Our main concern was getting you help so we didn’t give chase.” I nod in understanding. They could have left me in the street to go after the people who did this to me but they got me help instead. “ Thank you.”

But I know how we left things. It was nice they got me help and from the sounds of it they stayed with me when they didn’t have to. I’m awake and can deal with the doctors on my own now. It is time for them to go back to their lives. “ I'm good now. Can handle the rest. You can go.” I guess everything is catching up with me because I’m suddenly exhausted. “ Lilly, we have to talk. We aren’t going anywhere?” I don’t say anything. They said everything that needed to be said the day of my accident. “ Guys, it has already been a long day for her. Let her rest awhile then maybe try talking later.” Dr. Ryans says. Good idea doc I think as my eyes are already closing.
