Chapter 20

Tank
A week has gone by since Lilly woke up and basically dismissed us. Well she tried to anyway. We gave in to her request by not being in her room.But we are still outside her room to protect her. She doesn’t want us in the room with her or near her. But we are always close by incase she needs us. She will see Neil and the other guys in the band except Lug Nut. If it is a club member or ol’e lady she doesn’t want them in there with her. By Lilly’s request the doctors have stopped giving us updates on her. But that is all going to change today. Viper, Lug Nut, Ace,Goof, Thor and I are in the waiting room down the hall from her room. We have decided we are going in there and talk to her. We aren’t letting her push us away. But we have to use a different tactic than what we did before. We have to make sure we don’t upset her.

We had just decided that it would be better for Viper and Lug Nut to go first instead of all of us crowding her when we hear a terrified scream come from Lilly’s room. We didn’t even think, just took off running. It was no more than maybe fifteen steps but it felt like a mile. Just as us and the nurses get to her room a guy dressed all in black charges out and races down the hall in the opposite direction. Thor and Ace give chase while Viper, Lug and me check on Lilly.

We get inside and Lilly is thrashing against the nurses trying to calm her down. She is screaming at the top of her lungs “Get off me.” She is trying to pull away and hurting herself in the process. She had managed to remove wires and tubes from herself. Just as she flings her arm, yanking her Iv Viper runs to her side. He gets on the bed with her and wraps his arms around her arms, yanking her to his chest. “ Lilly, it’s Viper. I have got you.” He starts rocking her the way he used to when she first came to us and had nightmares. “ I got you, Lilly.” he assures her over and over until she finally calms down enough for the nurses to hook her back up to the machines. One nurse calls the doctor to look her over to make sure she didn’t hurt herself or have new injuries. They fix her Iv line. Once the doctor clears her and gives her something to help her relax he leaves the room.

“ Lilly, can you tell me what happened?” Viper asks. He trys to pull away to look at her but she has a death grip on his kutte. “ Ok,Lilly. I won’t move but I need to know what happened.” he says. “ I don’t know. I was sleeping, again. Then I felt someone touch my arm. I didn’t think anything about it. The nurses are always in here doing something. The next thing I knew I felt an arm slide under my knees and one trying to get under my back. Then I screamed.” Lilly tells us. “ Ok. Did you see what he looked like? Have you ever seen him before?” Lilly looks down at her blanket and shakes her head. “ No, I didn’t see anything. But.” She pauses for a second like she is unsure how to say what she wants. “Just tell us what it is. You may not think it’s important but it could be.” Lug Nut says. “ It was a he. I could tell by his voice. He said something like ‘ He was taking me where I belong’. And he had a weird smell. Like stale cigarettes,overly sweet perfume and cheap whiskey.”

Someone came into her hospital room and tried to kidnap. This is the second attempt. Who knew where to find her? Who keeps coming after her? Viper pulls out his phone “ Brick, I want the surveillance from Lilly’s floor. A.S.A.P. Someone tried to take her again. Get it done.” He hangs up that call just as Ace walks in. He looks at Lilly curled up damn near in Viper’s lap looking like she could fall asleep any minute. The medication the doctor gave her must have kicked in. Ace tells Viper “ Got him. Thor and Goof are taking him to the club house now.” “ He talk?” I ask. “ No, Goof knocked his ass out when he tackled the fucker.”

“ Lock him up. Noone speaks to the son of a bitch before me.” Viper growls out. Ace is already texting Viper’s command before Viper can even finish. Ace looks over at Lilly `` She give you anything?” I growl “ Yea. Mother fucker tried to kidnap her.” “ Tank, I want you with me when I visit the guy. I want you to see if you recognise him.” I nod. I have no problem with that even if it wasn't a command. I want a chance to get some answers of my own. “ I got some calls to make. I want one of ours in this room at all times. I don’t care what she says. She is to never be left alone. Where she goes someone is with her. I need to let the boys know.” Viper moves to get up but Lilly has other ideas. She grabs him tighter and whimpers. Ace goes over and sits on the other side of her. “ Lilly, Ace is going to take you. But I’ll be back. I promise. I won’t go far.” Viper whispers to her.

They carefully move her from Viper to Ace. “ Doc gave her some medicine to help her rest. She should be out for at least an hour or more.” Viper says. Ace just nods and leans back with Lilly in his arms. I want to be the one to be comforting her but I know now is not the time. I haven’t earned it yet. “ Tank, you stay here. Lug you are with me.” Viper says and walks out the door.
I grab a chair and sit down. I’ll be here awhile, not that I mind. Ace looks at me and asks, “ Was she hurt?” I shake my head “ No. Just scared out of her mind. Lashing out at anyone who went near. Knocked some wires and tubes loose. Didn’t calm down until Viper got ahold of her.” I’m about to say something else when there is a knock on the door and a doctor I have never seen before comes in. She looks around at Ace and I ,probably not sure what to think. “ Oh. I need to go over Lilly's recent test and look at her eyes. But I can come back later.” “ It could be awhile. There was an incident and her other doctor gave her something to help Lilly to relax.” I say.
Ace leans up “ You could tell us the results and we can tell Lilly.” The doctor shakes her head “ I don’t have authorization to give out any of Lilly’s medical information. There are strict instructions in her chart.” “ No problem doc. You can try back in a few hours.” Ace says. The doctor nods and walks out.

I shake my head and stare at Lilly. “ I know I have been a fucker to her. But she won’t let any club see her. She won’t let the doctors talk to us. None of the ol’e ladies or Anna .” “ Brother, she feels betrayed after we ambushed her. The idea was good but the execution was horrible. We have to give her time to adjust to everything that has happened. To us it has been over two weeks. To Lilly it is just a few days. The betrayal she felt is still new. Then finding out she was hit and almost kidnapped. It is a lot for anyone to take in. You heard Viper. We are going to talk to her. Him and Lug. After what just happened it will probably be tomorrow. But she is going to hear us out.” Ace holds her a little tighter and says low enough I almost didn’t hear him “ Lilly has to.She will know we never meant to hurt her. She will know how proud we are of her.” Neither of us said anything after that. There is no need to. We both know what needs to happen. We need to get Lilly back to the club. For her safety and for us. We all feel her absence. Ace misses her as his niece. And me, I miss my girl. Even when I was pushing her away she was always close. I don’t like her being this far away. She doesn’t know it but I’m going to stop at nothing to make her mine.

An hour later Lilly is laying by herself in the bed. Ace slid out from under her about thirty minutes ago to let her sleep more comfortably. A nurse I recognise comes in and brings Lilly her lunch. She sets it down on the side table and turns to us. She whispers “ You both know she doesn’t want you in here.” “ That was before someone came in and tried to take her. We ain't moving.” Ace says She just shakes her head. She knows there is no point in trying to argue. “ Point taken. Just be quiet.” She goes over to Lilly’s side. She leans down close to her “ Lilly. It’s Silvy. I brought your lunch. You need to eat.” Lilly whimpers. Silvy laughs “ Come on lady. You know you need to eat to get your strength back up if you want to get out of here.” Lilly huffs “ Fine. You're right.” I have to hold in a laugh at those two. Sivly raises Lilly’s bed and helps her get comfortable.
