Chapter 74

Lilly

After the surgery, catching Constantine, and finding out I’m an heiress in less than four days my brain needed a break so I did what I always do. Turned to music. When I was at the police station I got the idea to do a tribute to them. After checking with Deputy Bradford to see if I could borrow a few officers I asked the band their thoughts on it. They approved and helped me find the rest of the people I needed. Focusing on that helped me deal with everything else. After working for two days straight getting dance routines down and songs ready Tank had said I needed a break. He was taking me to the club first then to lunch. He said I needed to be around family to help me process all the things going on in my head. Maybe he is right.

I was sitting around the club trying to get my head under control. Unless I was working but my brain wouldn’t shut off. It kept going over everything I have learned. It was driving me nuts. Finally I had an idea. I turned to Merigold who was sitting beside me in the playroom watching the kids. “ Merigold, do you know where Brick is?” If anyone could help me with research it was Brick. “ I think he is in his office.” she said. I got up with Harley’s help. “ I’ll be right back.” I didn’t wait for an answer, I just went to find Brick. When I got to his office I knocked. I heard a gruff come in. I poked my head in his office so he could see me. Even with Harley’s help I was not going in there without Brick. There are way too many wires and cords to trip over.

“ Lilly, what can I do for you?” Brick asks, leading me to a chair. “ I need to do some research on a company called Rencorp. Can you help me? And I need it to stay between us. Well Tank already knows but I would like to leave the rest of the club out for now.” Brick nods “ I can do that for you,Lilly. I do know a bit about them already. They are well known. But I need to ask. Why do you want to know about them?” I blush and turn my head “ I’m sorta, kinda the heiress to the company. Or will be when I turn twenty one. At least that is what the lawyer told me.” I explained to Brick everything that has happened. He leans back in his chair and shakes his head. “ Wow. How are you handling all this?” he asks. This is why the guys in the club are awesome. “ For now I’m taking it one day at a time. I figure when the company is handed over to me I’ll be ok.” “ Good. I’ll find everything I can so you have an idea what you are looking at.” he says. After thanking him and giving him a hug I leave.


3 Hours before my concert


Lug asked me to come to Harry’s early because he had a last minute song he wanted me to check out. I’m standing in the middle of the dance floor and ask “ Lug what is with the last minute add on?” Lug stands in front of me “ Lilly, I just need you to listen to the song.” There is something in his voice. I’m not sure what it is but it tells me this song is important. First I hear the keyboard being played like a piano. Then Lug starts singing. It takes until the second verse for me to identify it. He is singing Luke Combs ‘ Better Together’. It is a sweet love ballad and I enjoy it very much. I hear people shuffling around but I’m paying attention to Lug only.

When he finishes the song I’m almost in tears. It is so beautiful. There is movement then Tank is in front of me getting on his knees. “ Tank, honey are you ok?” He laughs “ Yeah sweetheart I’m fine. But there is something I want to ask you. I didn’t know how to tell you everything so I asked Lug to help.Since I’m not good with words. He came up with a song he said was a perfect way to tell you how I feel about you. Now that you know how I feel I need to ask. Will you make this gruff biker the luckiest fucker in the world and marry me?” I do have tears rolling down my face now. Between the song and Tank's words I can’t stop them. “ For a man who says he is just a gruff biker you sure know how to make a girl melt. Yes, Nick. I will make myself the luckiest girl in the world and marry you.”

Tank put the ring on my finger, picked me up and swung me around. “ Thank you sweetheart. I promise I will make you the happiest girl in the world.” I laughed, “ You already do, Nick.” I didn’t realise there were other people watching us until I heard clapping. “ Congrats, Tank. But if you want this done you have to hand her over.” Merigold said. “ What are you talking about?” I ask her. But Tank answers “ Sweetheart, I knew when I asked you I wouldn’t be able to wait so we are getting married now.” “ What?” I shrek. “ I don’t have a dress and I have a concert in a few hours.” Tank takes my hand “ Sweetheart, I have everything covered. Just got with Merigold. Anna and Merigold are going to help you. And Anna has your costume waiting for you after we get married.” I smiled at him “ Really?” “ Yes, now go before I marry you in just jeans and a tee shirt.” I give him a quick kiss and let Merigold drag me away.

Anna and Merigold got to work as soon as they brought me to the back of the bar. Turned out Harry donated his office for them to use. Anna did my make up while Merigold worked on my hair. Why they were working the only thing I could think about was that I’m getting married. I’m going to marry Tank. “ You are awfully quiet. Are you ok?” Anna asked. “ Yes, I’m fine. More than fine. I get to marry Tank. And he planned the dress for me?” Merigold laughs “ The poor guy was so determined to marry you as soon as possible he pulled us all in to help. We got everything arranged. The dress, the food, your bridesmaid and maid of honor. Us. Even Jace and Jax are here. He got the guests. With our help he did it all.” “ Wow, if I didn’t think I was lucky before I know I am now.”

Forty five minutes later Anna is helping me slip on my dress and shoes. They help me walk out to the hallway before we stop abruptly. “ Ladies, take your positions. I have it from here.” Lug nut says. “ What’s going on?” “ Lilly, if you will have me I would like to give you away.” Lug says. “ I would be honored.” “ Don’t forget about us.” says Neil as he and Connor come over to me. I hear the keyboard start to play the wedding march. Lug takes one and Neil takes the other and Connor loops his arm through Neil’s. “ Let’s get you married, Songbird.”
