Chapter 81

Tank
When Trina ran over to me I knew something was wrong. But I didn’t expect it to be that Lilly was in labor. Although it shouldn’t come as a shock considering how close she is to her due date. I rushed out the door to move the truck closer for Lilly to get in. I ran back in the club and saw Axel and Merigold holding Lilly up with looks of concern on their faces. I see Trina on the phone looking frantic. “ Ok, sweetheart. Let me get you loaded up.” “ No,can do brother.” Axel says. “ What do you mean. We have to get her to the hospital.” Lilly is breathing hard. Merigold is trying to calm her. Trina comes up now that she is off the phone. “ Tank, Lilly won’t make it to the hospital. She is ready to have the baby now.” “ What?” I yell. Lilly is ready to deliver now. No, we have to get to the hospital. That is where she will have the baby.

“ Tank, now isn’t the time to lose your shit. I just got off the phone with her doctor. Lilly has been in labor all day and didn’t know it. She thought she was having back spasms. The doctor says to get Lilly comfortable then call an ambulance.” Trina says. Just then Lilly yells “ I need to push. Now.” I grab Lilly and take her to the med room and place her on the bed.. It is the cleanest and safest place for her to be. Trina and Merigold run in behind us. Axel is staying outside to give us some privacy and probably telling my brothers what is going on. Merigold goes to one side of Lilly and I go to the other. Trina is on the phone again. “ The ambulance is on it’s way but they want to know how far the contractions are.” Merigold says “ Less than a minute.” Shit that is too close.

I read all the books and went to all the appointments even looked stuff up online. I know when the contractions are that close together it is time to deliver. “ They need someone to check and see if she is dilated.” Trina said. I know they are women but nobody is looking at my wife unless they are a medical professional. I get to the foot of the bed. “ Lilly, I have to look. Just keep breathing.” She just nods. I lift the bottom of her sundress, remove her panties and bend her legs at the knees.. What I see shocks me. “ Trina put them on speaker.” When she does and lays the phone close to me I say “ The baby is crowning.”

“ Ok. You are going to have to help her deliver the baby. The paramedics are on route but I don’t think they will make it in time. Can you do that or is there someone there who can?” the operator asks. “ I will deliver my baby. But I don’t know how?” Nothing I read told me how to deliver a baby. “ I’ll walk you through it.” the operator says. He calls out a list of everything we are going to need. Most of the stuff we have in the room. Trina runs around gathering everything, even yells out in the hall for a few things. “ On the next contraction she needs to push with everything she has.” he says. I look at Lilly to see if she is listening. Merigold helps her sit up. When the next one hits Lilly bears down grunting with all her might.

The operator stays on the phone the whole time for us. Two pushes and the head is out. A head full of black hair. When it comes to the shoulders Lilly says “ It hurts too much Nick. I can’t do it.” The operator said that the shoulders are the hardest but once they are out the rest just slides out. “ Lilly, I know it hurts but you can do this. You have been run over. You faced down your stalker. You play for hundreds of people two nights a week. I know you are strong enough to do this. A couple more pushes and we will meet our baby. Now push.” I didn’t mean to yell at her but it worked. One push and she passed the shoulders and the rest of the body into my towel cover arms.

When Lilly hears our baby cry she flops back on the bed completely worn out. I wipe the baby off as Lilly asks “ What do we have?” I was so caught up I didn’t even look. I open the towel and look. “ A boy. You gave me a boy, sweetheart.” I croak out choked up with tears. Lilly smiles. A knock at the door two paramedics with full gear walk in. Both recognise Lilly right away. “ Hey Songbird. How are you feeling?” Pam asks. “ Tired and crampy.” Lilly says. “ That’s normal. The cramping is the placenta coming out.” Pam says. Pam looks at me “ Mr. Tank, how about I help you cut the cord then I will help Songbird pass the rest before transport her and the baby to the hospital.”

After the cord was cut I handed my son to Rich , the other paramedic to look him over. Pam helps Lilly and cleans her up. They put Lilly on a gurney and put our baby in her arms. Lilly smiles and says “ Look what we did. He is perfect.” I kissed the top of her head. “ He is just like his momma.” The paramedics take Lilly out with me following. When we get to the main room I see all my brothers standing around. I stop the paramedics for a second. I grab the baby and lift him up for my brothers to see. “ Brothers meet my son Sebastian Nickolas Tramane.” They give us a short congratulations and send us off to the hospital.

I can’t wait to see how the rest of my life is going to turn out. With my wife and now my son by my side I’m looking forward to it.
